Since placing an order for a Leisure Travel Van last Summer, I have become a RV-RU-vid junkie while I await the start of our adventures. I've now watched hours and hours of RV adventures of "full timers", and their commitment to this lifestyle is inspiring. And I'm so grateful that they have shared their love for their journeys with us computer based followers. I now follow many, but Tom and Caitlin's production quality is simply unbelievable. The cinematography, the editing, the narrative and related research. And of course - the drone footage. I think I've heard that Mortons on the Move will be featured on upcoming Discovery Channel episodes. So deserving. I've watched most of your entire journey starting with your Lance Camper and I think I'm about to rerun the entire series. It's that GOOD!

The best view we had of the Aurora borealis was from second floor fire escape of the Kennicott Glacier Lodge . One of the professors and Aurora researchers was there and told us just what time to get up on what night to get a best view if the weather cooperated. It cooperated and we had an amazing view of them.

W Carl Hepker That would have been supercool. We were in Kennicott too early for the Aurora and it was cloudy the whole time, But we did enjoy it for over a week from Fairbanks back to the Yukon the end of Aug/first week of Sept. Mind-blowing!

Well, since you hiked Worthington, you didn't need to hike Root Glacier. We went this past September. We didn't know the town was closing down the couple days we were supposed to be in McCarthy(the fact our VRBO res failed to pan out added to our adventure). We stayed at a cabin rental and ended up hiking from McCarthy to Kennicott and then on to Root Glacier. It was quite the adventure. But, man, it felt so amazing to be on our own so far from any real civilization.

Nice Video on some of our favorite parts of our Alaskan adventure this summer. We loved Valdez and spent several days exploring this walkable town. We’re both vegetarians so fishing was not on our agenda, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Lu-Lu Belle cruise to the Columbia Icefield. Regarding your hike to the Worthington Glacier how did you rig your rope bridge across the glacier melt creek without crossing it first? Also loved McCarthy/ Kennicott, but really hated this road. It was the roughest washboard we drove all summer in our Class C and wouldn’t do it again. You had much better weather there than we did too. It mostly rained the three days of this spur trip. The guided tour of the old copper mill was definitely worthwhile. See you next episode!
@MortonsontheMove
@MortonsontheMove 5 лет назад
Totally get it, we have been Vegan for years, but made an exception for Alaska and only if we catch it ourselves. Yes that road was terrible, We ran into a few who turned back. I wish we had more time out there to get a proper tour! We had to get back for a meeting. That road was sooo slow.

When we went, we drove to Chitna and then rode a bush plane to the McCarthy airport. That was late afternoon and the thermals and the winds swirling over the mountains were fully active. As soon as we landed, my late wife grabbed my arm, took me aside, and told me in no uncertain terms that there is no way we can go back that way. I had to find another way. I told her that when we would return, it would be in the morning before the thermals and swirling winds. I then had to take her to the pilot who said that it would be as smooth as butter the first flight in the mornings. She finally relented.
