Alba can just flat out sing!!! Her voice over the years I've been listening to her just gets better and better. I could listen to her sing all day and night! And, she just get better with age and experience!!! ❤
A very professional presentation by musicians with red fingers and noses...not to mention cold mouth pieces. Alba's voice is really maturing nicely. I was surprised by the depth and warmth of her speaking voice. Of course , her smile warmed up the atmosphere.
Post script: Also impressed by the bassist. I already knew that Marcal and Vicente are excellent players but no step is lost on the bottom/rhythm. All excellent musicians!
Speaking of her speaking, Alba is control here. She knows what she wants to say and says it. I imagine the practices are more collaborative, but it IS her quartet.
I do love this girl. At the time of this performance held under artic conditions, Alba was an old twenty years lady. I wasn't surprised to see her lead her own quartet. She played at eigth her first trumpet solo in the biggest Barcelona theater, and when back home helped her sister Elsa, aged 5, in her first attempts to masterize a trumpet. As an italian, I was surprised and pride to discover (time 1h 03') Alba engaged in "La voglia, la pazzia", a great tune and a great success all over the world, in the version performed and recorded by Ornella Vanoni with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho, and I was estonished discovering Alba singing this song in perfect italian pronuntiation. Perfect as always, just as she is in spanish, in english or in portuguese. Great Alba! With this execution, you drove me back half a century. A real, efficient "time-machine"
This is an excellent quartet. And Alba: since a little girl she just has to dance when waiting to play. (I first saw her in A Tisket A Tasket with Alba E) Such a cold day and the audience is definitely appreciative of their abundant musicianship. The group has a huge future if they want it.
Joan Chamorro must be very proud of how his young charges are maturing. Alba and her companions are very competent musicians and worth listening to. Very enjoyable !!
Wow, it’s as if overnight Alba has matured into a world class performer. Her voice has a more mature timbre. And her English is sounding more fluent and natural. Great line up too especially Marcel’s always excellent work on the sax. Looks like this is the beginning of the next chapter in Alba’s career. Very exciting. Hope the frigid Barcelona winter hasn’t left any lasting harm to these very talented performers. Expecting more great things from the Alba Armengou quartet. Also great recording! Kudos to the technical people who made this excellent recording.
Fun show to watch, relaxing too. (although I have to admit I felt a bit sorry for them playing in those temps) There's a lot of other recordings of this same group doing live shows (often the whole show is recorded), which you can find on YT. It seems to me that Alba's voice is getting better and better -- there's a vibrato there that didn't use to be, and it adds a lot. Plus, she has such a friendly personality that you can't help like her, even without all her talent. She's one of my very faves.
Four wonderful instrumentalists and a great vocalist. Pure delight. As I mentioned in the chat, this lineup could take on "The Girl from Ipanema" in Portuguese and English. Also, really fine recording under tough conditions -- better than much I've seen and heard in controlled environs.
Grande Alba!! Aupa! Cada día cantas mejor!
Alba performs beautifully in Spanish, English, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, French, (I guess Valenciano) She reminds me Edie Gorme. What about Vasco, Aragonés, Occitano, Extremeño, Euskera ? What a talented girl! The freshness of her voice is sourraunder. Congratulations!
It is wondeful to see all these refreshing groups sprouting from Joan Chamorro's tremendous work. Somewhere else somebody posted, he should be awarded the Nobel Prize for music. I cannot agree more.
Quin matí més deliciós ! Quina veu més meravellosa Alba ! Felicitats a tots els músics. Vaig gaudir molt.
@@garyedmondson2998 That's given to the prettiest girl on the stage. 😀 Seriously, I have no idea, but it seems to say something in english. If you look at 46:18 you can kind of make out "The Pro...", I think. It would be interesting to know, please post if you find out.
OK, mystery solved! If you go to 53:12, you can see it reads "The Project". That is the name of the concert promoter that runs the Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival in Barcelona, which this performance is part of. In fact, if you look up above, you will see that this YT channel is actually The Project's own channel. I'm pretty sure the wrist band is something she needed to get on stage or backstage for the festival. I assume the guys have them also, they're just not visible.
Oh wow, playing in that cold must have been hard, but they sound great despite it. Instruments, voices, and fingers really don't like cold. The talent and development of the artists from Sant Andreu is just amazing. I also really love how the vocalists are skilled at playing an instrument, too, or maybe it's vice versa, the instrumentalists are encouraged to sing. Whatever it is, Joan Chamorro seems to have an amazing gift for bringing out the best in these young players... the leadership and mentorship he provides seems second to none.
There are no singers as such in the band - many people play two or more instruments and Joan encourages people to sing - obviously some better than others.
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 I have to put Alba's voice, diction, and vocal delivery above her talent and skill with the trumpet. Obviously, singing is her first love!!
Marcal Perrimon - I'm a sax player with 40 years experience. I am coming from the Getz/ Desmond school. I have not heard a more beautiful tone and artistry on the tenor as you have. Absolutely beautiful. You are now my favorite player, and that is saying something! is That a SBA your playing?( I am also repair Saxes and have specialized in vintage saxes),

Anyone who knows the reference for the 9th song (40:17), please tell.
At a minimum, it would be preferable to just copy the left channel to the right and re-encode the video. It's not that difficult if you have the right software. That's assuming we are dealing with a mono recording.
The song is called Eclipse, and was performed by Natalia Lafourcade. Here is one of those not very great Google lyric translations, but I think it's good enough to give you the main idea behind the song. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to improve it right now. lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo Absence of light in the sea Ausencia de luz en el mar Suffering from bitter sleeplessness Sufriendo de amargo desvelo Looking at the night I got to thinking Mirando la noche me puse a pensar I thought you didn't love me anymore Pensaba que ya no me amabas with a desperation Con una desesperación In something that always overshadowed En algo que siempre eclipsaba the light of your love La luz de tu amor lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo Absence of light in the sea Ausencia de luz en el mar So alone with my sadness Tan sola con mi desconsuelo Looking at the night I started to cry Mirando la noche me puse a llorar Eclipse of love on your lips Eclipse de amor en tus labios They don't want to kiss me anymore Que ya no me quieren besar I would like to forget your grievances Quisiera olvidar sus agravios and then dream Y luego soñar (parapapapapa) (Parapapapapa) (mmmmh) (Mmmmh) (Parapapapapehhh) (Parapapapapehhh) (Uuuh) (Uuuh) lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo Absence of light in the sea Ausencia de luz en el mar Suffering from bitter sleeplessness Sufriendo de amargo desvelo Looking at the night I got to thinking Mirando la noche me puse a pensar I thought you didn't love me anymore Pensaba que ya no me amabas with a desperation Con una desesperación In something that always overshadowed En algo que siempre eclipsaba the light of your love La luz de tu amor lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo Absence of light in the sea Ausencia de luz en el mar So alone with my sadness Tan sola con mi desconsuelo Looking at the night I started to cry Mirando la noche me puse a llorar Eclipse of love on your lips Eclipse de amor en tus labioos They don't want to kiss me anymore Que ya no me quieren besar I would like to forget your grievances Quisiera olvidar sus agravios I would like to forget your grievances Quisiera olvidar sus agravios Eclipse of love on your lips Eclipse de amor en tus labios They don't want to kiss me anymore Que ya no me quieren besar I would like to forget your grievances Quisiera olvidar sus agravios And then Y luego dream Soooñar (parapapapapa) (Parapapapapa) (Parapaparadeeeei) (Parapaparadeeeei) (Uuuh) (Uuuh) (Uhhhhh) (Uhhhhhh) (Uhhhhhhh) (Uhhhhhhhh) lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo (Moon eclipse in the sky) (Eclipse de luna en el cielo) Absence of light in the sea ( Ausencia de luz en el mar ( Absence of light in the sea) Ausencia de luz en el mar) lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo (Moon eclipse in the sky) (Eclipse de luna en el cielo) Absence of light in the sea Ausencia de luz en el mar (Absence of light in the sea) (Ausencia de luz en el mar) (Moon eclipse in the sky) (Eclipse de luna en el cielo) (Absence of light in the sea) (Ausencia de luz en el mar) lunar eclipse in the sky Eclipse de luna en el cielo (Moon eclipse in the sky) (Eclipse de luna en el cielo) Absence of...
