It is difficult to catch live shows because my day is filled with too many interruptions. The household is quietly sleeping so I am finally sitting down to knit and sip tea while you catch me up on all the newsy bits. Blessings to the Clark family tonight!
Currently knitting my first colourwork item (aside from a a tiny Christmas tree decoration) which is a pair of socks, they’re the ‘onion socks’ on Ravelry and are an all over pattern. They’re actually really easy, they’re charted which I prefer as I’m a visual person. There’s no more than three stitches before you switch colour so no long floats and no catching when I’ve tried them on. I’ve just taught myself to knit continental style which is far easier than English knitting for colourwork!
Hi Andrew, life got in the way of this, so very late to the party🤪. But I sat and knitted on my latest shawl (Lucent by Alisa Hartzel) while watching…better late than never? Anyway, great progress on your Dustland and lovely as always to sit and knit with you!
Andrew there was an article in our local paper, a teacher had taught her grade 5ers to knit and they were amazed that they had something to show after all their time spent.
Sorry I missed the livestream, but, thankfully, it played just fine later. Congratulations to the Podiversary recipients (don't want to say the "W" word because it attracts unsavory non-sentient visitors) Today, I'm ashamed to admit I'm still working on sweater #2 of the three Christmas sweaters I started knitting in November, but it's about 1/2 a sleeve away from being finished. I haven't knit socks in sock weight yarn yet. I've done several pairs in worsted/Aron weight that turned out really nice and warm and were a fast knit. My favorite pattern is "Beauteous Boot Socks" by Alice Neal. I find her instructions extremely easy to follow and complete to where when you finish, you know how and why you knitted them the way the instructions placed them, which is ideal for new sock knitters.
Hi, Andrew, I'm from West Virginia, USA, and just watched your recorded Extra Stitch live episode. I'm late by a couple of days but enjoyed watching. By the way, what is the name of the tune that played at the end of this podcast? I've heard it before on your podcasts, and it's a happy little tune that always makes me smile. God Bless You and Yours!
Caught the replay. That sweater is looking gorgeous. Yes, that would be nice if your kids had a desire to knit. Maybe when they are older. I’m sorry you are having such bad weather over there. Our weather here in Florida has been crazy. 80 one day and 39 the next. Never know what to wear. I love the music you have for your podcast and seeing the boat going along on the water. It’s relaxing to me. Have a good month with all your activities. 🧶
Andrew, I've never met a crafter who is a minimalist. I think it's just not in our nature lol. The best we can hope for is containment and organization hahaha
I’ve had a great night watching and listening to all the Q&A and all the comments. Is so grand that we can watch if not live then when we can. That you for the note about the Victoria Methodist Lent Knit Along, I am waiting for admission to the Facebook page and if accepted will be looking forward to joining in. Great night, thank you Andrew and God bless from Sydney Australia.
Late but finally....watching this with a self designed summer top on the needles. @Donna Carmean: Do you know the book "Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys & Arans“ from Gladys Thomson?
Just corrected myself; I had said East coast but it’s definitely the West coast. Besides the fact that I am a BC resident, I confess to being severely Geographically challenged, i.e., I could get lost going around the block.🤣
@@albanachknitter I just checked and it is. 😕. This happens with some of the other channels I am subscribed to. Maybe there is some inconsistent glitch.
I love DK socks and wear all the time in the house. Not as good inside shoes as sock yarn. When I was learning to knit socks I made a pair in dk acrylic and they were horrible. Very sweaty and uncomfortable didn't allow the feel to breathe and lost all shape after the first wash. If you can't tolerate wool socks, maybe a cotton/bamboo blend would work in DK.
It's an Old Scots derivation of Kirkland coming from the Norse. Kirk is church, lin or land is land. The area I live in is Margnaheglish...that's Scots Gaelic for land of the Kirk! You could be Mrs Margnaheglish!
