Andrew Cuomo and the anti-gun elites of New York declare war on gun rights in the name of "public safety," yet the streets of Albany outside of the Governor's Mansion are littered with crime, overrun by violence, dictated by drugs and plagued with abysmal public education.
In this three-part series, NRATV's Colion Noir will report from the parks, barber shops, schools and streets of Albany, to identify the real problems, highlight the hard-working citizens outside of government who are fighting to make a difference and expose the politicians who scapegoat their failed leadership on gun owners. This is about people, not politics. Solutions, not gridlock.

Good help you FINANCIALLY if you happen to shoot someone even if the shoot is clean. It's not right, the criminals have more rights then the law abiding citizens. They need to instate strong castle doctrine and arm law biding citizens. No lawsuits allowed if a felony crime committed and the assailant gets hurt. Fuck them.

Exactly. Every time a legitimate gun owner goes to prison, poor neighborhoods in Albany have their ideas about suburban white men reinforced...the press conferences paint gun owners as white supremecists by using dog-whistle keywords. When white people go into South Albany and Arbor Hill, they’re looked at with distrust and disdain, when what we need to be doing is supporting their businesses and feeding resources back in, in a positive way. Capitalism rocks, and they’re being told it’s greedy to make an honest living.

I also want to give props to conscious cool, he’s absolutely correct. The black families living in these neighborhoods need to be able to protect their families and themselves as they go about their day. Currently, most of them think they need a permit and registration just to keep a shotgun in their home, when that’s not correct at all. All they need to do is go into their local gun shop and ask the clerk to help them select a good defensive tool for their family. That clerk would happily welcome them into the world of responsible gun ownership, as would every other customer in the shop. Get connected, learn safe handling and storage for YOUR family, and talk to your good neighbors about the choice to be armed and responsible for THEIR families.

DjFrankie Fach I think you're just going to have to defy the law. Don't worry too much - fascism is difficult to enforce because it is so oppressive. But from there people are going to have to step up - put their minds to work and find ways of creating value in their communities and generating untaxed economic wealth that ultimately succeeds on its own while not enabling a parasitic government system that keeps it from changing the situation. We have urban populations that literally cannot take care of themselves, and this helplessness is what fuels poverty, crime, and continued destruction of economic opportunity. 3D printers and miniaturized hydroponics, and DIY energy can be used by individuals towards this end. Industrial America is turning to automation. That's fine - America was great before industrialization, and while the situation isn't the same now, we have new resources/tools to create value in our communities, so we can create/generate localized economies.

@hyperliterider861 Yeah man it's terrible seeing great states like this get run down. New York was one of the most crucial battlegrounds during the revolutionary war, and look at it now. We forgot our history. Pennsylvania still embraces it and the 2nd amendment and I wanna move there so badly after helping my friend move to Philly. Not just the gun laws but houses are actually affordable unlike here!

AnimsOnDemand agreed 100% I’m born and raised in upstate New York, grew up near Lake George and we’ve had guns around the whole time. Wasn’t even allowed to touch a firearm until I was old enough to learn proper safety skills, responsibility and respect for them. It’s honestly infuriating watching and hearing all this ridiculousness going on, much respect and keep fighting for what’s right.

being a Licensed FFl in NY its hard. I once asked the state police abut the law and they told me it is as clear as mud. How can I run a business and do the legal thing if the issuing authority doesn't know how to interpret the law?

They do not care about you, those states need to start their own group and actually fund money for them selves. I grew up on Long Island NY, Came home from the Army in 1976 walked into "Leslie Edelman" gun store with my driver license and purchased A Colt AR-15 and Steyr Aug for $600.00 each (did I mention it was 1976). My point.... alot of citizens did and guess what!? No mass shootings in Schools, nightclubs or movie theaters. People have evolved into mentally ill defectives with no moral compass. A new generation devoid of any conscious- Super predators. It All started with the break down of the family unit over decades. It's not about Gun Control which is a myth. It's about Mind control among humanity.

I don't even know what to say, I moved from NY to Connecticut and that's when I found out that you can actually own and carry a hand gun. I never knew this at all. When I took the gun class I was nervous, I could not believe I was actually shooting a gun. When I bought my gun I was expecting something to happen and the gun store owner to tell me I cant have a gun. Now I have a gun and I'm terrified to buy ammo or go to gun range. All of this is because I grew up in NY.

But in my mind I'm waiting for the hammer to drop their are not alot of African American at the range, sometimes I'm the only one in there and they are a little surprised to see me and my license.

I'm in the executive protection industri. I started my career in NYC but I lived in westchester county up state new York. If you live in up state you get a full carry license from westchester county, however that license is not recognized in nyc. if you enter with that license its a felony. I had to get another license from the city of new York in one police plaza. FYI new York state is a enclosed state in its self and dose not recognized any other state. I love new York only for the pay in E.P work, but the laws are designed to disarmed and discourage good people who want to protected themself, and only benefit the criminals in the streets and in the power of office

To start you need a carry permit then depending in what state you live in you will need a security license. For example New York requires a armed guard license on top of your full carry permit. Florida requires a class D and class G armed security permits. Then you will need to take a executive protection course. It will run you about $4000. And it takes 2 weeks to complete from a Respectable school. The more training you have the better are your chances. A verifiable security background will help. Then you will start doing on call work, small Event ,Concerts Etc. Anything that requires X escorting a person. After that is just building a good reputation And networking. Build a profile in linked in .Some people go stray to Miami , that’s were you will fined lots of work. After that is just upgrading your client. The trick is look for the client that pays the best and requires the lest amount of work. Usually the older the client the better. The younger the more babysitting you will have to do. Also look out for ilegal work. E.P work can take you down some bad paths. Remember The only difference Between a executive protection agent and a drug dealers hitman is one bad decision. Good luck 👍

Born and raised in what was an awesome NY and even when Mario was governor it was still OK. Then along comes Emperor Andrew who totally turns the state to schit. We fled as subjects in the Socialist Republic of New Yorkistan to become Citizens of tbe Great and Free state of Georgia. Friendly neighbors low taxes and the Constitution still applies here. All those stuck in NY under the Supreme Being Cuomo should seriously think about heading South where reality and common sense (mostly) still prevails. We welcome all!

I have lived here my whole life and its funny how the people who shout for gun control have armed guards and state troopers protecting them and yet poor people “ black and brown “ have to wait 5 to 35 mins for the people who dont care about them to show. Upstate New York is farm land and country setting albany and New York city are no where near upstate New York if you are north of I90 you might be in upstate Albany is capital region and is on the east side of the state and New York city is a small island at the bottom of the state. The southern tier is alot of wooded areas and if you stay away from the bigger city's such as Rochester buffalo albany and new York city the rest of the state is pretty nice

Awesome. I live in NYC and its the same just larger. I'm not just talking eco but gun control. Its almost $100 for fingerprints and $340 for the license then up to 9 months waiting to see if you get it. If you do theres a time limit on when to get the gun. If you don't, null and void. If you do, you have 72 hrs to register the firearm. Then you have to wait 90 days before your next purchase. I've said for years NYC is the worst when it comes to Rights. After watching this I feel bad for Albany. Hope real change happens.

They are also the same people who keep voting for the politicians who impose these restrictive requirements. It's just crazy, and voters have to wake up... or they can keep living as they do today. Kinda like Detroit. I live about 20 miles outside of there and have worked in the southwest side for years. A shit ton of good people surrounded by corruption and terrible democratic economic policies. Many a destitute population. Used to be the richest and most prosperous city in the nation too. I moved out of NY State in July. I could not deal with the SAFE Act and the taxes. The taxes are so high on everything. It is a welfare state and welfare is so lucrative it doesn't make economic sense to get off it for many.

I’m also from NY, grew up in Brooklyn. They actually arrested and began prosecution of a man who picked up an officers handgun during a robbery that turned into a shootout after the officer was shot. I left NY 6 months ago.

Albany resident here; great stuff, shame I couldn't meet you while you were filming. It makes me especially sad to see what this place has become because my family has a lot of history here - one of my great-great-uncles (I think I got that right) was actually mayor of the city (no joke he's even got a wikipedia article because he was so damn cool en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_H._Gaus). My grandfather used to talk about about how him and his family got run out of town by the democrats (not literally of course) and I always thought he was exaggerating...the more I learn, the more I see he probably wasn't. TL;DR: NY politics are...special. And I'm definitely going to Bricks next time I need a haircut and don't feel like doing it myself.

All we can do is go out there and vote, the state is mostly conservative, with the exception of NoVA. All young, millennial, and brained washed by the left. Hopefully we can come up with better candidates next time, and we keep fighting.

you should look into new york state's sullivan act (pistol permit law). it was originally designed with the intent to discriminate against italians. it still uses a similar system where the county sheriff decides whether or not they like you personally which i'm sure is still used for discriminatory purposes today

If everyone were to stop abiding by these unconstitutional laws then they would change the unfortunate thing is law abiding citizens follow the law but what needs to happen is resistance you should not be following an unconstitutional law the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. That's not a topic for discussion or debate and and an inaliable right is just that a right can not be removed

It might not be PC to say, but poverty does not drive crime. It’s not simply an “economic issue.” While it’s a contributing factor, the poorest areas in the country do not have a high crime rate. It seems to be a culture problem in the inner cities that’s driving the crime rate. I agree they need economic opportunity but it’s not the only factor. I think you need to do more research. Still, you have my respect for getting out there and putting your feet on the ground in these areas.

It is a poverty issue, or we'll see changes in Detroit and Chicago overnight with an influx of income and more jobs, but sadly it's bout $$$. Just recently soon Chicago is putting a 9% tax on Video Games as part of the "Amusement Tax." Chicago people got 4 days to veto it out or it's gonna get worse.

I don't disagree, but that was mentioned in the video. Several of the interviewees talked about how the first response to a dispute is to get violent, and how there needs to be a cultural shift so that disputes can be settled in a more peaceful manner. It's kinda dumb to say that Colion needs to do more research when the point you're making was expressly stated in the video.

I grew up in New York City and then lived in the Albany area for 30 years. In regards to the gun laws, as a volunteer with the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, dealing with the ignorance; the partisanship; the voter apathy; etc was emotionally draining. All that on top of the economic situation, the tax structure, the regulatory environment, and the lack of hope for any improvement. Last year we finally left New York and moved to a free state. Night and Day.

Thank you for making this short film. I live about an hour south of Albany. I have lived in many other states, but am native to this area. I am currently going through the process to become a legal carrying citizen in my state. After much research on everything from reading the Safe Act, to researching firearms I can buy and carry in New York, you really start to see the uneducated lawmakers true agenda. Cuomo is the definition of a posturing politician who has all kinds of plans for himself, but none for the citizens of this great state. Not to mention that the Safe Act was rushed through with no one in mind but what Andrew Cuomo would look like to his constituents. Not citizens, not police officers, no one. And now he's our governor again. Thank you for putting this information out there, I know this will see a lot of eyes.

Brother I was born and raised in Albany, in fact that corner store you walked in use to be my corner store... You nailed it entirely. I grew up with neighbors on that block who 4 generations of the same family lived in the same house, all saying that what the great grandchildren are going through is the same thing the great grandparents went through as far as socio-economics... For the life of me I can't understand how many decades people have to go through zero change before they realize what they're doing is not working, but as a son of Albany, I thank you for the attention you're bringing to our city, because you nailed it... Everyone always wants to pay attention to the big glamorous cities with the major league teams and all the High Life but nobody gives a damn about small City Urban America.

I learned my most profound life lessons as a young man talking to shop owners, cabbies, and hundreds of my passengers when I drove a cab myself. even the inmates in my care in a 33 year career. You just need to open your mind, then you share the wisdom, and the pain of the world.

I’m from Albany. Moved from there to Texas in 2011. Since I’ve moved from there, friends and family that still live there have told me it’s gotten worse as far as crime. They say it’s mostly teens and young adults that are committing these crimes. They say you can’t even go out to a bar or a club anymore without someone outside in the parking lot waiting to rob u or assault u when u walk to ur car. The gun laws there are super strict. A friend of mine did a crime there in 2003, didn’t kill anyone, but based on him just having a gun on him and no permit, gave him that major time. He was just released in 2016.

My brutha, your passion spilled over in this segment of how you feel about the change that needs to happen. I sat here and watched every facial muscle cringe, at the the mere thought of meaningless policies pointed towards more gun control laws, rather than attacking the issue that is plaguing this community, and other communities around this country. Senseless gun laws does not fix this issue, because as you stated, ECONOMICS and poor infrastructure is the root problem in these communities. EXCELLENT segment piece this is, and just know that others share your passion
