@fernandoblueschannel Albert Collins, Explain Riffs, Bending and Vibrato in conversation with Keith Wyatt. Guitarist and blues singer. He had many nicknames given by fans as "The Ice Man" ("Iceman") and "The Master of the Telecaster."
I met Albert in the mall in Las Vegas he was alone having coffee 9 in the morning. I was the only one that recognized him I told him I loved him and how much joy he had brought me and the rest of the world. What a lovely man
Yeah, absolutely. I guess overplaying is a major trap you find yourself falling into more often than you (should) like once you've reached a certain level of dexterity on the fretboard... Going back and listening to the masters like Albert Collins will teach any sensible blues guitarist that the number of notes you play is definitely NOT what it's all about.
God he’s great, grossly underrated… always left out of best blues guitarist lists.. ya got Srv, Albert, BB, Jimi, clones galore but I haven’t seen one Albert Collins clone, think about that one
I'm starting now out of frustration I think I've finally found the style of playing my soul connects to I'm gonna get a tele and put my Les Paul on a break
His style is so difficult to replicate. A lot of what he’s doing is simple on paper, but very difficult to actually make it sound anything like he did. Absolute master.
Lorenzo Ciliberto yes I want to trans Siberian orchestra. Everybody was saying how great it was & I was thinking that was the biggest wank fest I’ve ever seen in my life. Long hair, distortion. Legs spread stance.
Im not sure Freddie king can be imitated that man is a legend and has soul, funk and rhythm and plays like no body else and really unleashes on guitar you are think albert and bb yes but freddie is in a league of his own..
Stevie ray Vaughan is the biggest imitation of albert king and albert collins i love stevie but even he would admit albert was his favorite guitarist makes sense why he sounds like both... but r.i.p stevie he was a force too be reckoned with for sure love stevie.. theres other guitarist you hear in stevies playing such as lonnie mack and his brother jimmy and jimmy hendrix obviously he is a product of his own environment so naturally he sounds like most and several native texas guitar players..
Great player, and innovator. What he got out of a few notes in one position is incredible. One of the few blues guys of that era who could actually follow the changes and knew where he was.
Biggest takeaway: At the time of this video its clear that his Telecaster had essentially became an extension of Mr. Collins himself; he didn't need to put any thought into it whatsoever, except when he had to explain it to an outsider. Something for me to work on, thanks for posting.
My favourite blues guitarist, hands down. Him and Jeff Beck inspired me to chuck the plectrum and start playing with the naked fingers....and I love it!
Albert plays some funky blues. Not many do that as good as him. His vibrato is different than any other blues guitarist and with how many there are, he's instantly recognizable, like BB and Albert King.
I discovered Albert through my brother in the late 1980s when I was first starting to get into blues music. 'Cold Snap' is his best album. I saw him in Jacksonville Florida in the mid 1990's. During one song, he walked all the way back to the lobby area, followed by a small crowd, including me, clapping in time, and he was shaking people's hands with one hand while playing with the other. His whole hand was calloused from all the playing.😅 A much cherished memory!!! Even when playing as a co- guest with other artists, his unique sound was instantly recognizable.
Seeing idiotic comments like the one from that Toy Boy guy makes me lose hope for humanity. Then a few notes from Mr. Collins restore it for me, reminding me of the truly beautiful things that exist in this world. Thank you, Mr. Collins. You will be greatly missed.
Get on stage, lead and entertain the audience, feel the dance groove and have a million original lines in your arsenal instead of asking how many fingers...... 😀😀😀

Tremendous stage presence. All the best blues guitar players come from Texas. There are so many great ones there that you never heard of that would blow your mind.
Yeah!! On stage .. When I see I'm boring.. I'm starting to play something like Albert did. Short, energetic licks.. And it's works!! :D I love this man!
I've been a huge Collins fan for ages and I just recently discovered a player named Pee Wee Crayton who seems to.have a lot in common with Albert. Pee Wee came up a decade or so earlier but does anyone know the connect ... if there was one?
As a kid starting guitar I was listening to Albert and had no idea he was using a capo or different tuning. No RU-vid and you would not know know unless you were lucky to see him live playing and walking out into the street with his 40 foot guitar cable. Genius
The touch, the feeling were uncomparable. Right. The sound and the beat were nothing less than magical. Fine. But, in the Name of the Lord, HOW could he hold the shoulder strap that way without losing it ?? 😄😄
Albert fell on hard times in the 70s and returned to construction. One project he worked on was at Neil Diamond’s house I believe the pop legend recognised the guitarist and encouraged him to return to gigging
l don't think Albert would be embarrassed to think he picked a little George Benson feel, amongst his own and numerous others. The man oozes with soul. RIP
Omg, I'm 45 and I still looooooovvvvee hearing these dudes break down they're style......I'm so inspired, this is my first time seeing this video..... Huge fan......oh and no pick mind you,...🙄🙄. I couldn't ever sound that good with Just my fingers
Love Albert too!! Does any one know how He tuned? He says D natchul but it appears that the capo is on the 9th? fret and Albert appears to be shaping a C. Im confused, if anyone knows, please share. Thanx 🎸😎
I had the chance to meet him two times (aftershow and have a talk for a few minutes ) in France during the 70's / 80's. A great guy ! I will never forget him. RIP Mr. COLLINS.
