Albert Johansson was always my favourite Leeds player, when I first started following Leeds, at 5 years old. I was privileged to watch him play at Elland Road. He was mesmerising to watch, he had the speed, the skill and was an unbelievable talent. Great post Joe!!

Albert Johansson is a Leeds United legend as far as I’m concerned. He was a great player who sadly was racially abused by rivals for the colour of his skin , but Albert quickly silenced the critics by showing them he can play, and Billy Bremner said the only time he ever got angry was when Albert Johannesson was racially abused. Even Georgie Best praised him. He deserves a statue at Elland Road. Albert was a legend of the game. He deserves to be recognised as a pioneer. 1940-1995

Grand video, Joe. In 1970, I played in the Inter Streets final in Otley and I still have my (losers) medal Albert Johansson presented to me.

I watched Albert Johannson, he was very good but did not get in the team very often at a time when the legends dominated the team sheet. I don’t ever remember any racial discrimination or abuse from the stands, we all gave him full support. I think the racial negativity is over blown.

I have to take my hat off to you Joe cos you very eloquently praised one of the Don Revie greats in Albert Johansson. As a 15 year old lad as often as possible ide catch the train up to Leeds from Nottingham once I started working altho I am from Leeds originally. I saw Albert play quite a few games and he had every football skills that you said about him. I remember him having thighs like bloody tree trunks and yes he could motor down that left wing and often leave opposing players on there backsides as he dribbled and weaved passed them. A truly great player and actually watching my first game with Leeds was as a 13 year old lad on a old big black and white TV of the 1965 fa Cup final. The fact that my uncle used to pick me up from my parents house and take me to his house just behind the Peacock on Elland Road going by the ground made me a die hard Leeds fan even tho I was only between 8 and 10 years of age. One of my greatest memories tho is seeing King Billy lift the FA cup final in 1972. I managed to get a ticket for the game as a 19 year old. Thanks so much for bringing back a memory of the great Albert Johannson in the fantastic Don Revie era. Let's please have some more of past great Leeds players.😃MOT ALAW 💛 💙 🤍

Thanks so much Joe. A great tribute to a total legend. I keywork someone at my workplace (a mental health unit/ home in Leeds). His dad had befriended Albert, and had him round the house regularly, and have seen some lovely photos of that time. A tragic end to a true trailblazer in English football. Thanks again. MOT

I was 6 years old when I first went to Elland Road in the early 60’s. I absolutely loved Albert, he really could get the crowd going with his speed, skill and heart. He was one of the reasons I fell in love with the game and with Leeds United. God bless you Albert…

I saw him and he was very fast with his dribbling. The trouble with him if he was up against a HARD full back he was snuffed out of the game. But he had amazing skills.

Dear Joe,,,thankyou for this brilliant video on Our Albert,,,a Legend that should always be remembered, for his skills and love for Leeds Unired and playing in the most difficult period as the first African player . The clips I saw of him were enough to convince me that he was a magical player the type who would grace any team in the Premier League. RIP Albert

Another Sinistera who more often than not was on treatment table than the pitch. Nevertheless exciting dribbler to watch and trailblazer for black footballers post 60's. Very sad ending, credit to u Joe giving him prominence in your Leeds all our yesterdays series

I remember watching him as a kid I'm mixed race and remember old guys patting me on the head and calling me young Albert as l was crushed against the barriers at the front of the old cinder bank. Years later l remember when l was working in Leeds City centre seeing him begging in Leeds city centre 😩 l never gave him money but l always bought him a coffee and a sandwich and had a chat with him it was sad to see him like that and a sad day when l heard of his passing ... He's buried in Lawnswood cemetery in Leeds and was a trailblazer and sadly underappreciated what he had to endure whilst playing this was the era when every team had a clogger who went out to stop the flair players playing by fair means or foul and Albert had Refs didnt protect players from tackles that would be classed as GBH these days and then after his playing career there was not support for players like there is now.

I used to walk to school and would often cross paths with Albert as he went for his morning walk / newspaper. A shy smiling man who always said hello. If I could liken his playing style to a more modern player I'd suggest Aaron Lennon. Quick feet, pacy, dynamic. (not sure it took 100 years for Leeds to acknowledge him though Joe.... Think the maths went wrong there🤔)

I appreciate the explanation but you definitely said it took 100 years for the club to commemorate him. As he was born 84 years ago, it's not possible! I now see from your response that you meant Leeds paid tribute to him in the clubs 100th year. Anyway mate keep up the fantastic work, you're doing an amazing job with your content and keep the fanbase well informed and entertained.

Leeds 4 Everton 1 is a game i will never forget the first season in the top flight 1964-65...iy was the first time i saw the great Bobby Collins which began my undying love for Leeds and the first time i saw our Albert...on a boggy pitch Albert glided over it and scored the first and hit another..im sure he was playing more inside...i was 10 but just on highlights it was clear he was going to be special...i never saw a colour of skin i saw the colour white and those who abused never had Leeds in the heart...i could go on about Albert but all would have been said plus..in the cup final i just didnt think Albert was with it but years later i heard his nerve's got the better of him bless...Albert was part of a great team from coming up to FAcup final and league runners up losing on goal difference...in 1995 i was a grown man and still sobbed for Albert..passing away in a cheap bedsit alone..times change and if known im sure if today we would have looked after a club legend...R.I.P Albert

Well done Joe for always thinking outside the box re content. A bit less stat reading and adding the likes of the chief Lucas Radebe, Rod Wallace, Yaboah, and some more recent fan favourites Beckford, Phillips, Summerville etc would have allowed you to bring it right up to date with the players of colour who contributed to Leeds success. Fans at the ground support mist of the black players but social media I’m afraid Phillips, Tyler Roberts and Costa got comments about stupid hair cuts , and racial slurs that only key board warriors get away with. A definite racist element sadly on line. Great you highlighted Albert a trail blazer. Your best when animated, passionate and supportive of other content creators big up bro 👍🏾
