My father was a get down like u live blues player an I remember him playin with albert king an when I came across this jam session I love me some Stevie ray ,this is killing me an lovin every bit of it oh yeah
Agree 100%. Bad luck these days aren't life's bad luck. Mostly self-described as bad luck. I really feel for the newer generations. It's not their fault for being so impressionable as to bad luck as we know it. Can only hope realisation is received soon 🙏 These songs are derived from some heavy duty times that is unfathomable to the newer generations. Blues forever!! I hope that the newer generations find the blues 🙏
@@pamelapalmer2832you are correct two legendary masters will not see something this special again I think music today just doesn't seem to be in this level glad I heard these men Texas Flood and course the Legendary Blues at Sunrise the greatest live album I have heard and that says something even better than Grand Funk Railroad live If you want blood you've got it And Bob Seger live and that truly is saying something
For those who don't know, Albert King invented the concept of the extended guitar solo. He was also the first to do those crazy step and a half "trainwreck" bends.
i'm 65 years old i love stevie ray vaughan and BB king they are awesome if stevie ray was still alive he would still be picking that guitar y'all have a blessed day and your family too thank you all for the love and appreciation you're welcome❤
I was very lucky to be able as a young musician to see Mr King live in Austin. My dad took me to one of the last concerts while I was in high school. I just wish that I could have been able to experience SRV with him together! They have both been a great influence in my music.
@@jarrellbamberger545Beautiful! N hey listen, take it from me, if it's meant to happen to you or not? Just know that's just the way "it" is suppose to be🙂 N hey my left hand hates my right hand, surprised they can clap together😆😂 But listen, really. If I didn't have music on all day until I'm ready to settle in? I'd go fuckin crazy! You sweetie! Go play that music n have your soul guide your fingers! Peace & Love🧡💚🧡
I thought I sent that last comment to Ka-Bar. Maybe this will go to him. I first saw only the "Don't Lie to Me" part of the session, sound was great! Don't know why it's not as good here, but it's not horrible
@@johnsallee7824 I'm not saying it is not good. I'm saying that they should digitally remaster the entire session, but it is not a complaint against you. I enjoyed watching it.
Human trauma human blues and human culture and the heart to speak of it as you're dying! That's why all rocks That's where you build your foundation and that's why we have gravestones otherwise you fall into the all-in-consuming fire or light take your choice. And there ain't much you want after being born because it's like guns n' roses said you're going to die... 🎉 🌘💜🌒
Dude that was my exact thought what you shed the rhythm section always gets overlooked and I'm saying that from the point of view of a guitarist I'm not a bass player or a drummer I love to play the bass I love to play the drums but any good musician knows that there's a big difference between playing and being one LOL I've been practicing bass and drums now for about a year and a half and I have a huge respect for good players I don't think I have enough time left on Earth to be able to get them down like I do the guitar. I have the guitar 40 years under my belt bass and drums one all these dudes are awesome and at least 50% argan and yeah to reply to another person's comment at the same time they better preserve this because since about 95 percent of the current generation and upcoming don't even know what the hell a guitar yes yes. We have allowed the world to be populated by talentless hacks who are not musicians at all. Just because you can push a button and play a drum beat and just because you actually can speak and have maybe some control over whatever language it is that half these guys are speaking these days in rap and garbage like thatdoesn't make you a rapper. Unbelievable. And I'm not anti-rap it's not my favorite by any means I'm a little old for that but I can recognize who is clearly talented musically with rap and who's not and usually the case is the ones who grew up listening to music actual music are the ones who put out this mumbling crap filled with nothing but obscenity racism hatred murder sexual perversion and every other hedonistic ugly thing this world has in it glorifying all of this is hardly the same thing as what we're seeing here. AI save us all at least in the musical community hopefully it'll recognize s*** and destroy it
Hello 👋 Eddie. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where you are from? You seem like a real country girl
@Msapere absolutely also to the cameramen, directors, producers, whomever studio that was, musicians, whomever idea it was 2 put these 2 legends together even to the damn youtuber who unloaded this video. So thankful to everyone 😁
It is epic. Stevie Ray and the great Albert King. We have so little to remember Stevie by compared to others. I was so happy to stumble on this session.
Here's one for ya, Doyall Bramhall 2 doing Outside Woman Blues on the Clapton's Crossroads concert in 2007. He also does a song called Rosie on there, they're both damn good👍
With headphones on, you can hear someone from the backing back laugh out loud at that statement. Respect to them all! Takes a full band to make this work. That said, no one will ever convince me that there ever was or will be a better blues "fiddler" than Stevie.
When he told Stevie the better you get the harder you work, you going to get better and I’m going to be there watchin you. Bout broke my heart man. What a lovely contribution to music they made.
I haven't read all the comments, but let me be the first or perhaps one of the few to point out what it terrific singer Albert King was. A wonderful voice, velvety, strong, flexible, direct and subtle. Combined with his legendary guitar sound he was overwhelming. Stevie really knew how to pick his heroes.
We People From The South Simply Refer To It As "Soulful". Albert King And Marvin Junior Of "The Dells" Are Two Of The Most Noteworthy Voices With Such Tonality... Unless You Attended A Black Church In The South During The 40'-60's.
70 yr. Old here.. remembering listening to SRV since almost infancy, or seems like it..and find myself closing me eyes, and saying to myself " oh hell yeah!!" Or " Thats right..play it son!!" "Bend those strings and let it talk!".. Jimmy? He's good.. but, ain't nobody can make that Strat speak the way Stevie did..sorry
I'm the lion queen. I'm 65 this July. I love the blues since I was a child. Kids my age thought I was weird. I didn't care. Just like donny Osmond & michael Jackson back in the 70's. I like Michael while my white girlfriends liked donny. Damn...who has the flavor for music? I'm still here. Listening to the blues!!! Where are they? 😂
I was a security guard driving a van and I did the same when I heard the news... I had just seen him with Jeff Beck just weeks earlier in S. Fla.... and I actually threw a frisbee to SRV at a Tulane University stopover in 82 or 83 (along with about 50 other partiers) when he quit David Bowie's tour and was on his way back to Texas.
Stevie's Death Hit Us ALL Hard!🥺 I Had Seen Him Just Mere Weeks Before....He Was Sober & So Happy & Sounded SO Good - God Love Him! SOUL💞Soul, Stevie💗😘
Eric Clapton arguably one of the top 5. SRV left us too quick. I agree he is a gentleman in this performance. SRV IS SHOWING MAJOR RESPECT TO A LEGENDS
Clapton is a king among mediocre wannabes. I love Stevie too. But Clapton is one of the best even playing backgrounds for Pink and Tracy Chapman his presence is always prominent. Listen to 2 minutes of invisible
At the beginning of the clip, Albert was basically telling SRV.."You are the man!!" What a feeling that must have been for Vaughan to hear that from one of his guitar heroes!
they picking it on like if he was still alive steve with raymond he would still be that was one of the greatest guitar players ever out there stevie ray vaughan thank you i appreciate the love and the support y'all have a blessed day and thank you and your family too you're welcome and thank god
At age 69 and a lover all good music and voice these guys are in my soul . They are my generation and we are not a lost generation we are the people of America. We know where we are .
Absolutely astonishing. SRV shows so much respect to Mr King, studying his every move, waiting for signals to lead then come back. It's a great pity SRV did not have the opportunity to step into those shoes. RIP Gentlemen.
SRV showed respect in the form of restraint. SRV was ready to unload the blues, but realized it wasn't appropriate to do everything he could. The man could've got fire and weird with it but chose to play conservatively and stick to the staple blues
No this was srv paying homage, not about blistering the neck. If you recognize the parts where Albert was being more vocal in his notes, and Stevie was still playing the same signature licks he plays, don't think for a second he could do what Albert does, that's the beauty of Stevie. He knew Albert still had some strange vocal abilities like horn players to his riffs, and srv let him accentuate them. I love srv, but I've been playing for over 30years blues guitar and can see exactly what was going on, yes Stevie was holding back, but, he also knew that if given the time, and warming up, and comfortable place to jam, then Albert turns into a completely different player, using other than his own signature licks. This was about giving back, and also pushing Albert to his most uncomfortable places, yet supporting him. So let's stop the whole head cutting thing, this wasn't that
And King right back stating you need to show me hiw you're doing it. 2 powerful richly. Talented superstars playing like kids and giving their prospers. Both like I need to see this and show what you just did. They are having so much fun I can't stop looking. Neither trying to be better. Both doing their best . Love and encouragement. We need alot of this in our world. 😢 matters how we treat each other. We're all smiling from 5 weeks ago when I saw it the first time. Get it boys. And please keep giving it back
@@TheBigbry8 and your thoughts? hahaha It's so unbelievable its like it was fiction!! Albert channels shit from another dimension and completey outplays Stevie and says "sit down and watch your master bring his own song home". Watch Stevie's face during Alberts last solo before he brings it home. SRV inspired his master to play better than he ever has before! Haha This is THE ONLY TIME anyone's ever outplayed and matched SRV note for note, then completely destroys him and leaves SRV note-less. I challenge anyone to find anyone outplaying Stevie like this. Please share the link if you think I'm wrong. I'm not! The last solo by Albert is absolute destruction channeled from another dimension!! SRV thought he ended the song with his UNGODLY solos right before. hahahaha His face when he sees Albert bring it home is priceless. He knows he was outmatched by his master and he's loving every second of it!! Praise GOD FOR THESE 2 GENIUSES of Music. PRAISE GOD FOR #THEBLUES!

This video is absolutely amazing! You can tell how proud bb king was of srv & how srv just studied his every move. It was like a proud grandfather showing respect to how much he had grow up. I've wondered for year how far stevie would have went if he didn't die. He was amazing & had so much talent. I love the way stevie just sat back & didn't showboat. There will never be two men as great as these two ever. I never got the chance to see srv. I got to meet bb king & have dinner with him. He stopped at the truck stop I was working at. He had the back area of the restaurant closed off for him. He wanted every employee at the shop. Fuel island, store restaurant, maintenance etc. To come sit down & have dinner with him. He invited all the truckers to come back & have dinner. He sat back there for prob 8 hrs just talking & playing guitar. He was such a wholesome man. He was taking request, he said if you don't know my music I'll play what you like. I requested Lucille. I got my picture taken with him & he handed me his guitar (Lucille) to hold for the picture. It was one of the greatest days I ever had. When I got of work I went back & listened to him play for hours.
When you watch Stevie and his movements and mannerisms it really looks like he's pushing his soul through the guitar. This dude was a guitar, wearing a human suit 😂 what a one of a kind. RIP to the greatest 🙏
@@treypeters1087 I'm not sure what you're watching but you can see in Albert kings mannerisms he knew who the better guitar player was on this day. It's not an offense to him. By this time he was older and Stevie was in his prime.
Me too. So enlightening to see true mutual respect between the mentor and the student. So sad when we lost Stevie Ray. Immortallity on earth live in memories. King and Vaughn are already passed on to my kids. Lets keep it going. Great men.
If someone you know never heard Blues music before let em see this. They'll know everything they need to know, afterward. BELIEVE THIS! This is the tippy top of blues music, period!
They used to show this on PBS at my grandma's house and she was deaf. One day she came in my room after she had the choclear implants and she was like oh I hear music now. I mean I was beefin it pretty bad. Like sit down and look at this with me grandma. It was a pretty cool thing. Like ok so that is music thing is cool. Rip grandma.
I swear the mothership just called Stevie home. This guy was other worldly. Beyond understanding. What a tremendous gift he was to us all. RIP Stevie 🎸
Sure , SRV might be more appealing to a younger listener, but those licks & wide vibrato , are just fundamental part of Rock guitar now. SRV certainly helped bring in a new generation of youngsters to the blues . But Albert helped invent the foundationl to rock lead guitar .
@Sandra-Louise at Mumma2s Place ...so "Life Without You" was an Autobiographical Prophecy? I know the Devil tried to do him in, but was always in God's Hand!
Albert played in flat e and b flat a lot he had some incredible licks but a times he could be repetitive but damn Albert dripped the blues, what he was able to do was done at a very high level for certain
This might be the best long recording of 2 blues masters enjoying each other's company, experience, and unassuming improv of the last 50 years or maybe ever. IMO 🤣🤣🤣
I am so thankful I came across this jam session and it was on the net for me to get to hear it! This is one of those moments in time captured that can never be duplicated and I’m thankful I got to see it. I believe that any true Stevie Ray Vaughan fan should see this. It’s such a great tribute to him and his mentor the great Albert king.
What's wonderful is that they are enjoying themselves. I saw SRV in London and he was kicking it! Such a feel - good gig. I actually still have my tickets for the week after his demise. Didn't know quite what to do with them so did nothing. Meanwhile I've seen other bands who were just there to earn their bread and butter. Fair enough. Seasick Steve also has a fabulous stage presence for anyone interested. Everyone has a great time - on stage or off!
@@billatnip6425 I'm sure Mr James will put me straight on them. He got me into The Marshall Tucker Band and George Thoroughgood. I've seen Seasick twice at the old Hammy Odeon and SRV once at the same venue. Still have my tickets for when he didn't make it.
I just discovered this. Jesus. Knew AK was a huge influence on SRV but I didn't realize how much SRV's style follows AK's from soft and mellow to bending strings on face-melting solos. This is an incredible piece of music history. Love the blues.
watch Albert completely outmatch SRV notefor note at the end of "Don't Lie to Me" and watch Stevie's face! haha He completely destroys his own song and channels something from another dimension
You think Stevie ever realized he outplayed Albert? Albert wanted to sit and watch. If he pushed him a little further we may have entered another blues universe. This is an absolute treasure to come and listen to. Thanks for sharing.
"Say what?! I cain't hear ya..." Such a Blessing watching a Proud Papa tell his baby boy to go on ahead and talk like the grown man he's become...and watching how Stevie Ray naturally compliments his "Pops" when he's talkin'. It's the mutual Love and Respect for each other and the Art Form for me! Thanks to whoever posted this, because the current generation needs to understand what REAL MUSIC played by REAL MUSICIANS LOOKS, SOUNDS, AND FEELS LIKE! Thanks again! Love you AK & SRV! JAM ON!
I am going through a really bad stretch of depression, and after this I laughed and I cried. It soothes my heart and brings a rare smile to my face and eases the pain. Thank you to all the incredible artists who help us to make it through the days. I am sure - if the world is still there - that people will listen to this a hundred and more years from now. Send it out into space.
No higher compliment than the respect of your peers. We all need to acknowledge how lucky we all are that this... performance (too small of a word), was captured for posterity.
I've been listening exclusively to stevie ray vaughan for about two months straight now. I just found out that this performance was recorded about 200 feet from where I grew up. I walked past this building a million times, it's changed hands a dozen times but they're still trying to make it work. Covid might kill the place for good but now I know that the spirit of Stevie Ray Vaughan is in that building and I will never look at it the same again. I'm going to kiss the bricks next time I walk past it. Thanks for the UNBELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVAAAAAAABLE music. I CANT EXPRESS.
I couldn't agree more I've listened to em all .STEVIE RAY is something special one of a kind .his voice and his ability to blow my mind no matter how many times I listen to him. Love him the man was the best 💪
I saw Stevie Ray - he opened for the Pretenders (!) and the Alarm played first (?). Anyhow. That was 4/20/1984. Good lord was I blessed with that gift.
Holy F..K I’m 27 Years Old And Have Been Playing Guitar 🎸 For 13 Years. (Mostly Rock & Some Classical Music 🎶 But Within The Last 8 Months I’ve Been Trying To Integrate More Blues. Stumbled Across This Gem 💎 Mind….🤯🤯🤯❤
If you're within 40 miles before I have to stand I mean I wish I could say 400 mi but I've been broken it being really fucking hard I'm 50 now so no I can say is that you got something and don't other stuff to show you if you're cool with that bro come here I won't still from you got nothing to lose so if you're that cool Bye aye I feel you feel you.
I see you see there at the right so many of us but that's corruption because the fact that you see me and I see you let us know their ain't so many of us. 😅
Mr 27 yr old. You must have lots potential for practice on your guitar. Keep playing. Stay with the blues.i it will NEVER go out of style. Learn it good, & become great. Love you to life. Good luck!
King was left-handed, but usually played right-handed guitars flipped over upside-down with the high E on top. He never played the 6th low E. Only later in his career did he play guitar s designed for lefties, the first made by Dan Erlewine in the late’70s.
You can tell Stevie is just humbled being on stage with Albert, he must be a huge inspiration for him Stevie almost looks a bit nervous first I’ve ever seen that
