Alberta Premier Danielle Smith provides an update on the ongoing wildfire situation in the province.
She is joined at the news conference in Edmonton by ministers Todd Loewen (forestry and parks) and Mike Ellis (public safety and emergency services), as well as Christie Tucker (information unit manager for Alberta Wildfire) and Steven Lacroix (managing director of Alberta Emergency Management Agency).
There are currently 176 wildfires burning across the province with 54 of them classified as out of control. A 300 to 400-foot wall of flame was reported to have spread through the alpine resort townsite of Jasper, reducing it to charred rubble.
