The Queen of Gospel, The StarMaker, Dr. Albertina Walker Singing "Even Me" Sorry the quality isn't the best but I hope you enjoy, rate, and comment as usual!!!! Watch in "High Quality" for best picture and sound!!!!
Hi Saints, I was honored to be the organist on this recording. This was my very first time being on a recording (smile). I vividly remember on rehearsal night, Sis. Walker was so overcome by the Spirit of God that she broke down crying and couldn't finish singing the song. One more thing, my now late parents lived to be there on this their only child's first time on a recording. I guess paying for all those piano and organ lessons paid off. To God be the glory. (smile)
Bless God, I’ve played on three more CDs since this one. On the last one in 2008 by the Victorian Gospel Singers, I served as musical director and producer. It’s call “Keeping Tradition Alive. All of the organ is me.
I loved hearing MS.Albertina Walker sing. She sang and praised God even when her health was getting the best of her MS.Albertina is now on that Heavenly choir.
Mother Albertina was not feeling 100% in her body, but still selflessly gave her voice to song, for the Lord and for His people, Thank You Lord! Halleujah!
Give me Traditional Flavor everytime, accompanied with Holiness living psalmists!!! That carry the "I am not Ashamed of the Gospel" the type of singing that folk get saved on!!! That breaks a sin hardened heart, the anointing that destroys the yoke and sets the captives free!!! In the Lord Jesus Name, Amen, Amen, Amen!!!
I need you Jesus I need you in my day my night my hour my minute my seconds I need you in my heart in my soul keep me as you have all this time you let me see another birthday and lord right here right now I wanna say thank you even lil ole me I need you Jesus I can't do this on my own
i absolutely love traditional. i remember when i first heard this on the radio, i was driving in my car and started crying. Ms. Walker put everything she had into this performance. Nikki Ross's version of How Great Thou Art was out of this world--very strong vocals. Bishop Scott knew exactly what he was doing by picking her to lead that song because she will put her own spice into it and it was still traditional-sounding.
I love this recording Albertina Walker is in a class all by herself and the organ playing and choir is awesome . One more thing I love Bishop Leonard Scott . Awesome man of God . He's among the very best praise leader . ¹
This is disturbing to see how people hear rumors and spread gossip without confirming. I was privileged to speak with Mrs Delois Barrett Campbell last week, Miss Walkers personal friend, who confirmed Miss Walker is still recovering. Keep her in your prayers. Long Live The Reigning Queen of Gospel!
A TRUE LADY OF STYLE, ELOQUENCE, CLASS AND GRACE...... THE ONE AND ONLY QUEEN OF GOSPEL DR. ALBERTINA WALKER. THIS WOMEN DID NOT LET HER MEDICAL CONDITION STOP HER FROM PRAISING GOD THROUGH SONGS. WELL DONE, YOU WERE INDEED A GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT... CONTINUE TO.RIP UNTIL JESUS COMES AND YOU CAN GO BACK WITH HIM AND JOIN THAT HEAVENLY CHOIR........
I'm a "holinessboi" born, raised, and now a minister in the same church. I TOTALLY agree with you my man. There is no need for gimmickry in His house. You do not have to try to pump or encourage God to show up. Just deliver the word in text or song and He will do the rest. Keep your convictions and dont let anyone persuade you otherwise. God is the greatest, there is no God but God and I bear witness that Jesus is Prophet, Priest and King, Forever. Amen.
Dr.Albertina Walker was and remains for me a true life changing evangalist. Evaluating the specifics of her style at this point is not only disrespectful, but totally ignores the souls she continues to bring to the Lord even in her death. She uplifts, motivates, restores faith when we are weak. Thank you for pointing out that she had chronic respiratory illness and continued to spread God's through song nearly to the end. Who can find fault with her rich legacy of God's Love, Faith and Hope?
David Burden Thanks David very inspiring words you speak.some people's haven't read Proverbs 18 . R.I.P. Queen Albertina, I will never forget you , listen to her daily. Even me Oh My God
If you like the good old "standards", this is a part of Dr. Scott's DVD, Hymns of the Nation. The background choir and musicians were excellent throughout (I think they were out of Baltimore). The Spirit just builds throughout the DVD ... I highly recommend it.
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was at Asia Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi. The late Sophronia James Marshall Moses accompanied the sanctuary choir. Later, I asked Mrs. Moses, if I could lead that song. Of course, she said let's try it. As she taught it to me and I listened to the words of the song, my soul was inspired. I can still hear the altos, Lillian D. Carey, Beatrice Watson, Hattie J. Brown, and the sopranos, Seleda C. James, Tugar Booth and Nathalee Clark, as I sang the verses. O my God!!!
WHILE THOU ART BLESSING....PLEASE SIR JESUS BLESS ME!!! WHAT AN AWESOME WOMAN OF GOD! REST ON MRS. WALKER AS YOU WERE ON EARTH YOU ARE IN HEAVEN... STILL SINGING GOD PRAISES...............
Yes..as she got older she would struggle to get her wind but I loved the Queen..she always kept the standard n sang to the Lord..she always made it personal n u felt the anointing..that's that keeping Holy Ghost power..my Lord, where is it now..we need it back..take us back Lord to the ol time way
Although I was rather disappointed after hearing the result of a financial blessing of benefits in which I was eagerly anticipating, I must admit after hearing this song, that the Lord ensured me that there will yet be a much better blessing soon coming my way. Truly now, I do believe and can sense that there will be some financial raindrops of blessing soon falling down on me.
I've had this video I don't know how long...LOL! The quaility isn't the best b/c it was a duplicate VHS tape that I dubbed to a DVD & then uploaded it from there...LOL! But I LOVE Albertina & finally decided to share it! I didn't post Nikki Ross b/c I didn't really care for her! Not to say that she can't sing but she was doing to much runnin & "extra" stuff & these are traditional songs...don't need all that! Just stand flat-footed & sing from the heart & let the anointing take care of the rest!
@mlowerysmelodies She has a severe case of ashtma and being in the wheelchair just helps with her breathing because the less she has to walk it keeps her from having to breath so hard. But if you ever happen to catch her live, she may start out sitting in the wheelchair or on a stool or something...but as soon as she starts to feel that thang, u had best believe she coming out outta there and snatching off the oxygen too...LOL!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Carolinavs27. Your organ skills are simply beautiful. I also love the song, "Even Me". I remember leading that song at Asia Baptist Church in Lexington, MS, with Sophronia Marshall Moses at the piano. Hymns are so rich and pure, and they and can really stir the soul, when sung by a good vocalist.
Like I said...it's just my personal opinion!! She was doing way too much for me but I am sure others liked it...but I will take Albertina's style & those of her generation over the young folks any day!! I am only 27 myself, but there is just something special about that generation of singers...the ones who started gospel music as we know it today & they never get the recognition they deserve!!! Many of the younger generation don't think u can sing unless u do a whole lotta runnin & extra stuff!!
i know this is off the subject but dont you wish Vickie Winans would go back to traditional? I know she started contemporary during her early years but i like the traditonal better...
Yeah...I love her but getting to the point that I don't care for her music too much anymore!!! She was just here in the Virginia Beach area on last Saturday, June 6, and I had plans to go see her since her tickets were only $20, but my Pastor died unexpectingly, and his funeral was on the same day she came so I wasn't able to make it!!!!
I don't like her like that so that's why I didn't post her singing...LOL!!! Not trying to sound mean or anything, cuz she can sing no doubt, but she was doing WAY TOO MUCH "runnin" & "extra" stuff for me!!!! This was a traditional album & all you have to do is stand flat-footed & sing from the heart & let the Lord take care of the rest...just like "The Queen" did here!!!! I hate a lotta foolishness in my traditional gospel songs...takes away from them to me...but dat's just my opinion though!!!!
I don't know sir, it seems you can't make up your mind if you liked Sister Albertina or not. In one breath you give her praise and in the next you don't like her. Make up your mind you can't have both.
I thought I was the only one! I can be perfectly fine while watching this video until she just starts hollering "Oh Jesus!" That thing resonates in my SOUL!
