These might be the most beautiful fish in the hobby. Today we are checking out the Albino Threadfin Acara (Acarichthys heckelii). Enjoy! Music: bensound.com License code: YVUTUQ2G1HKEYDHI
I’ve had these and your right about not chasing water parameters, I see so many just dropping tons of buffer to get the desired PH and it’s just a waste of money, especially since most hobbyists get their fish from LFS In their neighborhood which have the same parameters. Beautiful Fish and set up and love the fish room
Such a Stunning Fish! I have kept Albino Hecklii quite a few times successfully and the Three things I feel they need is Stable PH, Sandy Substate, and most of all a mostly veggie based diet of pellets and flakes….protein from what I’ve experienced is their long term downfall and will have them develop stomach/ swim bladder issues as they get into adulthood.
Thank you for the great video. In your experience with them do you find that they have a slow reaction/response to seeing food?I currently have 1 male and he seems to be having a hard time seeing. My other SA cichlids grab it right away.
Great video and I’m now looking to get some of these for my 75 with built in Wet/Dry filter….you mentioned a pair in a 75 and that seems like a very light fish load….what are thoughts on 5 total (1 male with 4 females) or if only a pair will be okay together what other fish do you recommend with them in this tank?
In a 75g I think 1 male and 3 females would work. I would personally be hesitant on 4 females. Also, Congo Tetras would be very cool tank mates. Best wishes!
Good day, fishkeeper! Love the info and those tanks. My question to you is, do you think a large datnoid tiger fish can be kept with cichlids ( not a dovi, red devil, or flower horn), but maybe a jaguar or an oscar? Thanks!
@@Riffwaters I brought 3 of them & kept losing one after the other without knowing the reason. But one thing I guessed for sure was these must be very very sensitive fish. They are expensive too 😭
Oh yea they'd be beautiful with Discus, but I agree with your caution on keeping them together. And cool to hear from someone in South Africa. Thanks for watching!
I own one of these albino threadfins…beautiful about 6” very nice colors but beware…these are aggressive towards each other…the second one didn’t fair well at all…parasite got him. These fish will lock lips and constantly fight. After the other died the surviving one targeted my geo tapajos and that saga continues…
