This blew mine and the mind of others upon listening to this for the first time. People that don't even like jazz or jazz fusion are like... "Holy crap this is amazing music!"

I keep this album on a loop and use it for my ambient background music while I work. It's exquisite.

Just today, I was thinking of music to recommend to a young neighbor who plays guitar and somehow thought of Pat Metheny, which is why I am here now. I purchased this album in 1976 at the MIT Coop in Cambridge as a co-worker of mine back then was taking guitar lessons from Pat. I still have the album, and great to refresh my feeling mood from listening to this gorgeous ethereal music from so many years ago.

@@katedryer4488 True story, true feeling. Thank you. There was SO MUCH great original music emerging from artists back then. Not so much now, at least not in the "mainstream."

un album que escuché por primera vez en casa de mi suegra ... pedazo de obra maestra ...ninguno de sus albúmenes subsecuentes llegaron ni de lejos a este altísimo nivel

the first theme, it gives me a sensation of like a suspense badish film music Lol, very interesting voice leading. First time listening to this one and is just delightfull. I have a friend who plays and sings rock, I used to like more than now, progressive rock. i went down to Chile to visit my circle and I asked him; any Jazz Club? and he said : I don't like Jazz...ooooooh boy I cannot believe how U can be a "musician" without not knowing ; in order to like music; JAZZ. Voila Muac! Un manjar!.L.D.

I found a nice copy of this on vinyl last week. It was a little pricey but worth the cost. A beautiful ECM German 1st pressing . Now I’m looking for “ Watercolors”.

Guys, lots of misinformation in the discussion. This recording pre-dates Synclavier, Also pre-dates Jaco Pastorius drug issues. What we have here is a clean representation of Jaco Pastorius as well. Watch the Rick Beato's Pat Metheny interview. He talks quite a bit about this first recording.

Hi, just thought to mention this, JACO actually didn't crash and burn because of drug issues per se. The great musician actually suffered from (untreated) bipolar disorder. It eroded his impulse control and he couldn't slow down and think clearly. You are right on one level, certainly all that cocaine he ingested while touring with Weather Report messed up an already unstable personality.

Hey Thanks for this memorable upload - my 1st PM album what musical brilliance ,vision and quality for the time and the start of Pat & Lyle's metamorphosis into many first class musical group collaborations which I followed religiously from gigs in USA ,London Spain to Perth Australia (the Sanchez ,Oh & Simcock bandmembers ).Biggest regret was not seeing PM live with Esbjorn Svensson Group (EST) a magical musical collaboration & Let us not forget Lyle's contribution to PAT's music over the many years R I P Lyle Mays ....as a tribute please play ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RSU-bnQMjBI.html ......forever, DJEJ Ayrshire

Avevo questo LP, se ricordo bene oltre a Pastorius c'era Bob Moses alla batteria; che album!
