I hope he reads like a paragraph summary about the longchains and themes of the album. Maybe not though since I was awaiting his reaction to this albums story, couldn’t wait to hear what he thought.
Lupe has walked away from the search of the Limelight of his first albums. He's been doing the Art House thing for quite a while now. Ever since he started teaching college courses his artistic message is more about his creation than reaching more people. I think he truly believes his work will stand the test of time. That's why his own paintings are the cover art of his albums.
I feel like Bob would get the most out of The Impossible Kid or Integrated Tech Solutions. The rest might be a little hard to enjoy on a first listen. Bob would have to listen to it like he does with MF DOOM where you appreciate the rhymes and delivery over understanding what's being said initially
Great review Bob, I liked this album a fair bit, especially after having explored Amy's discography. Asap Rocky's releasing an album in a week or so and it would be great if you'd explore his discography a bit more before then. At Long Last Asap and Long Live Asap are both amazing.
Hey Bob Could you please react to the “Pink Heartz” album by SoFaygo? I’m sure you would enjoy it a lot and it has features from a lot of artists you reacted to before. Thanks
Really glad that you dove into the Amy Winehouse stuff and checked out the Professor Skye video, really glad That stuff made the album so much more meaningful and interesting Take a week off of work before getting into Mural tho
I"m late but I think this album is especially relevant given the recent Lupe/Kendrick discussion. I don't know if you're aware or not Bob but there are a ton of people, maybe even the majority outside of Lupe stans, that think Lupe believes he was supposed to have the accolades, acclaim, notoriety, and respect that Kendrick does and is jealous of him because he did the hood conscious rap thing first only he didn't blow up like Kendrick did. I see this album as almost a response to that. Like you said, Amy's what-if story mirrors Lupe's real life story, he's speaking through her. At one point he craved that type of success and attention (after getting some hype behind him and recognizing his own skill) but shifted at some point. Lupe is now fully content to focus on his craft and hone his art away from the limelight. He's doing it just out of his undying loyalty to the art of rap itself, regardless of what outside & potential inside pressure wants him to do. Could be wrong but that's how I interpret it.
Most of yall ain't hip hop though. He gets annoyed with people asking him about Duckworth as if they're anything alike. Lupe is a lyricist. Kendrick is a pop star. Let's stop comparing the two.
Bob you should really react to some Boldy James since you like samurai so much Personally I recommend Manger On McNichols Its a Collab with sterling toles the production took almost 10 yrs for Sterling to perfect and you can really tell he went all over the world to create some of the instrumentals not to mention its 10 tracks 42 mins perfect runtime for an album imo.
hey bob sorry if you keep seeing this reoccurring comment from me lmao, recommending that you check out childish gambinos "awaken, my love!" and his 2024 releases 'Atavista' and 'Bando Stone & The New World' I think that all three of those would be 100% down your aisle in style and originality, really enjoyed your reaction to kanyes JIK.
Can you PLEASE get into Micheal Young History? I get that you have to listen to all of the albums 1st but I think getting right into the 10+ songs in Lupe's Saga would be awesome!
Great! You finally found the reason for the Amy references! Lupe is a GD genius! Favorite rapper ever. Please do T&Y, but I wouldn't mind Food & Liquor 2 bc I need to understand it better as a massive Lupe stan.
FIRE VIDEO!!! This is fantastic. Underrated even. You really sat with the album huh? You really processed it. Loved your thoughts and ideas here. I had some similar thoughts but you also had some things I didnt think about as deeply. The fact that months later after personally sitting with the album and watching all the breakdowns and watching Professor Skye, I thought I dug to the bottom of this album. Nope. There is still much more to discover!
T&Y and Drogas Wave are awesome and I hope you get around to them eventually but man... Drill Music in Zion is incredible and it's shorter so not quite as much of a time commitment. To me it's his best album other than food and liquor.
Edit: I should add this because it's important. In order to understand WHY Lupe would make an album like this, you have to go back and listen to a song called "Mural Jr" from his album Drogas Wave. He also has song versions of this like "Alan Forever" and "Jonylah Forever". Mad respect for checking out Professor Skye's video and listening to the comments on your initial reaction.
This album proves you should start reading the album or song overviews on the top of Genius pages during your reactions. Not gonna lie, the Amy Winehouse 'denialism' kind of killed part of the viewing experience. With that being said, you're still one of the best reactors on RU-vid. Watching your journey into hip-hop has been one of my favorite things the last few years.
Bob I’m kind of going insane I’ve been asking for luv is rage 2 for a while, and many others have too. Luv is rage 2 is lil Uzis greatest and best album, also one of the greatest and most influential trap albums of all time. I’d just love to see it and I’m sad to see that you only reacted to his worst album, every other album is 10x better
Hey Bob, I would be really excited if you would do a reaction to Immortal Technique and his album “Revolutionary Vol.2” and here is why: Immortal Technique is a raw and honest rapper from Harlem. His Peruvian background has made him experienced racism against latinos and that is one of the many things he talks about in his lyrics. His first studio album named “Revolutionary Vol.1” was released 2001 and was a very unique style of rap at the time with rough beats and producing but passionate lyrics about things that no other rapper nor musician really talked about. He is very much against big record labels and instead sold cds to the album on his own. He was offered a record deal once and his response was that he would agree and sign the papers if he was allowed to fuck the wives of all the workers on the record label. Vol.2 is his second studio album and it introduced finer beats and better quality than his first. I love this album and many fans think that it’s the beat of the three albums he got. It offers more songs that say fuck the industry but he also talks about things like the path of cocaine from Peru all the way to USA and things he don’t like about the government. My favorite three songs from this album is: “One (remix)”, “leaving the past” and “You never know” - which is a really emotional story that I think will leave you in tears. I would love to see a reaction to his work and I really think that the world should be more aware of Immortal Technique. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I really hope Bob reacts to Tetsuo & Youth and Drill Music in Zion. After listening to the latter especially, it quickly became one of my favorite projects EVER. So beautiful and powerful.
