13:39 I started with a bolt on squire II , and once i was hooked on playing I upgraded to a thru neck jackson RR. I was over the moon with the ease of access but as I’ve grown played soo many guitars (my current favorite to play is a bolt on Jem Jr ) the difference between the neck joints isn’t a hinderance it only slightly affects how i play. Its just muscle memory at this point.

Pickups are a smaller matter if you're into metal or heavy distortion....but for cleans, blues, etc...pups are a huge contributor to tone...even on simple Teles....as I've learned as of late swapping them all the time for the sheer fun of it. No amount of EQ or fancy pedals is going to bring out the magic tones that bring tears to the eyes and joy to the heart from crappy pups or crappy amp. Got a set of '51 Nocasters coming in the mail.... The Zexcoil's I dropped into a '93 MIA Strat two days absolutely transformed that guitar...magical on all 5 positions...not to mention the 'tone shaping' feature these amazing pups offer.

Holy crap, that Baum is one of the coolest guitars I've ever seen! I would probably have no use for it, because I barely play any non-metal music and it's probably way out of my normal budget, but I really appreciate an awesome unique guitar design, and especially in that color, it's just gorgeous.

Hi Kris! Thank you for your answers, i did exactly what you recommended :)) I left the original wiring like untached, soldered it out, bought new parts (even the plate too), and made a modern wiring even with that little cable mod, what you mentioned! i traded a mark 1v in for a single rec after i strummed one chord through it. it was a straight forward, easy to dial amp that i still run with 15 years later. however, there was something special about the mark series amps i miss, i guess i just got tired of tweaking and wanted simple layout.

Hey Kris....thanks for your YT.Videos. Always really informative 👍 I have laughed so loud regarding the comment about changing pickups. This guy has no glue. For example, I have changed my stock pu from my LP Epiphone to Seymour Duncan and the sound, the attack, the feeling, the sustain has changed drastically....so changing make sense and can improve your sound 😉

I think the things that get overlooked in these conversations are ears. None of us know what someone else is hearing. Sure, we can assume that it's something similar to what we are hearing ourselves but is it? The structure of our ears must impact what we hear. I've watched videos where the presenter is insisting that there is no difference and there's me sitting at home screaming at the television "of course there's a bloody difference". This needs to stop being an argument. It never will of course, but that's what we like isn't it? 😂

Hello Kris, I have a challenge for you! I've just heard about two interesting guitars and I'd like to see You try them out (and compare them and your Tele). The two guitars are the Strandberg Sälen Classic NX 6 and the Powers Electric A Type. The first is a modern reincarnation of a T-style (and you have it at Thomann, I think 😉) and the second is a more traditional-looking but very innovative instrument. What do you think? 🤔

Pups make a huge difference to the playing experience when you are standing next to the speakers at a decent volume. If the guitar is being played straight into the desk then the pups have no added acoustic content so there is almost no difference between pups...

Hi Kris, I have a question for you if you don't mind? I am in Canada and I have ordered the 15 watt version of the Stage Right Tube Combo amp(Same amp as the Harley Benton that you are familiar with), I have the 5 watt version currently and love it, anyway what 12"speaker would you update the 15 Watt HB/Stage Right amp with for a killer bluesy sound? thanks man...I love your channel!!! Hope you have a great summer!

Hey buddy, thanks so much! Which 12" speaker for a bluesy sound? For most amps, including the Tube15, I'd definitely go for the Celestion Creamback 75. It's the most balanced and full sounding speaker that I ever tried (maybe except for some super expensive alnico speakers). Cheers dude!

The guitar ergonomics is a strange thing. I was long long time all for the super egronomic, contouted guitar with awesome upper fret access and rounded neck joints and what not, only to find out, that cumbersome pieces of furniture (like Led Paul, Tele, 335) are what feel best to me to play. 👍

Hi Kris, ist nicht eher die Kombination aus Tonholz, Hardware und Pickups wichtig? Ich bin ein Fan alter Squiers, und ich sehe einen massiven Unterschied im Klang bei der eingesetzten Hardware (Sphäro-Guss gegenüber Blockguss), massiv natürlich bei Strats. Ich habe mehrere Japan, Mexico und Korea Strats mit Texas Special Pickups, und den klanglichen Unterschied mache ich hier eher am Gewicht des Bodies und der eingesetzten Hardware (Tremolo) fest. Tolles Video. Bei dem live q&a hatte ich eine Frage gestellt die ihr leider falsch verstanden habt.... Es gibt leider keine Gitarre mit H S P90 Bestückung... Was schlägst du vor?

Hi, jetzt verstehe ich. :) Nein, ich kenne so eine Gitarre auch nicht. Es gibt sowas bestimmt, es ist aber sehr speziell. Ich denke das klingt nach einem Modding Projekt (oder sogar nach einem DIY Kit), am besten und am günstigsten ist sowas besonderes lieber selbst zu machen. Ich würde eine Strat als Grundlage nehmen, da hätten alle 3 Pickups Platz. Wenn man da Platz für sie macht. 😅

@@patrickpierson6079 Hi, das kann gut sein, Fender macht gerne einheitliche Korpus Fräsungen für eine Modell Reihe. Kann ich aber nicht versprechen, aktuelle Strats hab ich nicht „aufgemacht“ um nachzuschauen. HSH Fräsung ist schon fast richtig, allerdings ist ein P90 noch breiter, als ein Humbucker. Also einfacher wäre es ein P90 im Humbucker Form zu nehmen. Das wird gleich perfekt reinpassen.

The wood thing is wildly oversimplified, IMO. The question is never does wood make a difference. No one cares about that. The question is does it make a significant difference. I think the answer is not really. You can't hear what kind of wood a player is using. Oh, that's definitely ash or definitely alder. We talk about gear the way we do largely due to marketing. You're being sold ideas that translate into features that are packaged into products sold by companies. That's why there are tons of tubescreamers are advertised as being special. How many PAF style humbuckers do we really need on the market? Hendrix played new strats right off the wall. Imagine thinking Hendrix couldn't have played Woodstock on a basswood Squire and been just as incredible.

... and Fender almost routinely changed wood each decade based on what was readily available at a decent price. Ash, alder, pine, a few short runs in mahogany. You rarely hear anyone say "omg those MIJ poplar/basswood strats sound so different to the MIA ash/alder". Yes, maybe there's a marginal difference back to back, but there's also a marginal difference playing two alders back to back too. It's not a difference the audience is going to hear or care about. Sure, buy the one that plays better to you for whatever unquantifiable "feel" and setup reason. The one that makes you want to play. The players emotional response matters too. But I think we should stop overthinking and over-attributing the whole wood thing. Fender didn't make a song and dance about it in the 50s/60s/70s when they were switching species for cost reasons. The Fender marketing machine espousing wood character is a much more recent phenomena to upsell the whole vintage nostalgia price premium.
