In 2004. We thought Fortier would last forever. Still don't understand why people seem to just accept this as a casualty of Katrina and not the racial injustice it really was. Tulane insisted upon having the historic building for "their kids" to go to school thus robbing the kids at Fortier of not only their building but their legacy. After years of tradition, history and memories, just like that, Fortier was gone. And no one seemed to say a word. RIP.
Your entitled to your opinion. It does not erase facts. Fortier was a last resort school for some kids and for some it effectively rerouted the classroom to jail pipeline. McMain/Spectrum was not an option for most of those kids. The same energy that closed Fortier TRIED to close SUNO and keep only UNO open knowing it would keep many blacks out of college. UNO was arguably a "better school" to some.
This was the only year Fortier was better than Kennedy. Then on Rock & Roll, all the T-Bones, B-Tones, and F-Horns playing the same wrong note together in unison lol. At least they're all playing it lmao
