I might have to look into Sorcerer as an option for multiclassing as they can convert their sorcery points into even more spell slots, and then of course you could convert those extra spell slots into even more elixirs. Just make sure to but lots of flasks, lol.

Great video! Looking forward to your Artillerist review. Just a quick clarification on Alchemical Savant. It works on adding your int modifier as damage to one roll of the spell (not the first creature). This means if you used it on Tasha's Caustic Brew for example, you would roll 2D4 and add your Int to one of the D4s. This would apply to all the creatures hit by the acid, not just the first one. Any subsequent damage wouldn't be affected by your bonus damage because it is only one roll. This makes this feature a little better than you thought, although it is still fairly limited in effectiveness. The Artillerist's Arcane Firearm has the same effect, but unhelpfully it is worded differently.

Nice catch. Yeah this does help slightly but overall it isn't enough to make it crazy busted. If it applied more broadly, it could be a decent little boost

Had to come back and make another post, lol. Sorcerer probably wouldn't be the best choice for extra spell slots because they get their sorcery points based off their level and that would compete with your level in Alchemist. If you want a more reliable source of spell slots with a minimal dip into multiclassing your Alchemist then try 1 or 2 levels into warlock. I would suggest 2 as this would give you 2 spell slots that replenish on a short rest and a couple of invocations.

One thing I was wondering about with the elixirs. The ability says “until the end of your next long rest”. To me I think you should be able to essentially ‘rest cast’ your elixirs. If I use this during a long rest, shouldn’t they last until the end of my NEXT long rest? You still can’t stockpile them longer than that of course, but it could help maximize the use of the ability. Also, maybe you combine this with Warlock. Like a Scorlock build, but instead of converting warlock slots into sorcery points, you’re converting them into elixirs. This could actually allow you to stockpile elixirs if you’re not taking a long rest.

Hmm I like the way you are thinking and this would be a nice improvement. That would be a DM decision though probably. I like the Warlock flavor too. If you have a DM who would let you do that, that sounds really cool and would definitely give you some more versatility

@@DapperSnapperGaming I think most DM could be convinced. Only real question in my mind is it worth dipping a couple levels of warlock. I think it could be. You get spell slots that replenish on a short rest, plus a couple invocations and Eldritch Blast for a consistent source of damage. Unfortunately I’m not sure if I would want to take a third level 🤔 you miss out on your pact noon, but then trading 2nd level spells for elixirs doesn’t seem as great. Maybe it depends on what patron you choose and what else you’re trying to do with the character 🤔

The elixirs should of been proficiency bonus amount, the resilience and transformation should of be an hour( u only use it for breathing underwater or as a disguise which need an hour), and when spending higher spell slots it should be slot level equals amount of elixirs made(must be same elixirs for every bottle)

Probably been pointed out here but Right Tool for the Job doesn’t allow you the Poisoner’s kit. It’s not an artisan’s tool nor available as a Artificer’s focus. Which still peeves me off

I know I’m a bit late, but in your experience does the alchemist deal decent damage or am I only expecting my character to be support and healing? The ratings aren’t giving me hope lol. Edit: and now that I’m thinking about it, are they underpowered. Honestly wished they were made as full casters.

Well technically you can be whatever you want to be. The alchemist tends to be more of a support role as does the Artificer class as a whole. You get several spells that deal damage but generally you are gonna be a utility or support character.

@@DapperSnapperGaming yeah I guess my question is does it hold up compared to over classes? I watched your review section and I feel like another character of the same level could do similar things.

The largest selling feature here is your infusions at level 2. No other class can do that and the extra attunement slots can come in handy with a bunch of stuff that gives a passive bonus. If you're looking to be a full time healer, Cleric is probs the way to go. If you are looking for a Swiss Army Knife, this is your ticket.

Pretty good except when multiclassing spellcasters you can only learn spells of the level you could if you single classed. So when you got the second level of wizard, you could not learn a 3rd level spell even though you unlocked 3rd level spells with the Artificer.

Yes you're correct. When I finish this series I am going to be going back through my builds and fixing ones where things are wrong or confusing. This one is at the top of my list

im confused, one of your rules is not power gaming, but isnt that how you build the most efficient characters? since its a socially cooperative, isnt being efficient considered socially responsible?

Well it's a fine line to walk really. If you go with a full meme build then your party may struggle. If you pick the most powerful build you can create, then the game can be too easy on the players and frustrating for the DM.
