Yeah, hallucinations tend to just be the tip of the ice berg. I mean the restlessness, fear, anxiety, enhanced senses, the feeling that the room is moving, the inability to sleep, the fluctuating nature of your bodily function and shit like that. I got mine when I was on my second trip to Poland. The room of the hostel we where sleeping in was leaning. I hade to ask a friend if I was going mad or if he could also see a bottle of water when I made it roll across the room haha.
My buddy just went through this, and ended up in the hospital for a week close to death. He was always my drinking buddy, but I chose a different path last year. Can't help but thinking it could have easily been me
Tactile hallucinations are the worst and terrifying, it's like something is poking your body during the night as well as nightmares I have been through it and never again !
I’m 32 days sober. Was a very heavy drinker for almost 17 years since I was 15-17yo. Drank 20-30 drinks a day if it was beer, and 16-25 shots a day if it was liquor. I took a lot of Xanax in ,y 20s, and a lot of Norco in my late 20s up until last year. I quit on my own weaning myself off for a year and had a seizure within 2 hours after my last shot on March 8th. I drank so much water I had no damage to my body besides a fatty liver, and was malnourished as for the last 3+ months I didn’t eat anything. The anxiety after quitting starting in week 2 and the high blood pressure was the worst. Blood pressure finally going down, and anxiety starting to calm.
I usually make it a few days then drink a fifth. Then I feel terrible the next day. Don't sleep well for 3 days. But around day 4/5 I feel better and sleep better. Then I buy a fifth and the process repeats.
Started drinking when I was 12, I'm now 34 about to be 35 and I honestly just want to be done with alcohol forever. If it doesn't fully destroy my insides in the next few years it will definitely put me in jail. God please save me
I'm approaching 19 years of sobriety and straight edge. My liver was swollen 28%. A recent ultrasound showed my liver has returned to normal. In sobriety, it's important to engage in physical fitness and eat natural foods. We need to live a very clean and healthy life to allow our body and brain to heal as rapidly as possible.
@imakrewitatl I had full blown DTs, was admitted to the ER and put under for 4 days to keep my heart from exploding, really. I had some pretty crazy auditory and visual hallucinations the days leading upto. But a small percentage of people get that, it unfortunately runs in my family.

Everytime I drink alcohol usually a day or two later, I feel numb to everything that’s going on and it stays like this for at least a few weeks and it makes me feel slightly depressed. Also my hearing is foggy too. It sucks :/
@Mr. Tibs it’s honestly such a weird feeling and not a good one at that. I’m fine to drink a little bit of alcohol but if I get drunk then I feel that way.

Using benzos to help alcohol withdrawal is like adding fuel to the fire. Use alcohol taper instead. Benzos are extremely potent on the GABA receptors, moreso than alcohol, so please save yourself and them the pain.
Some hospitals do keep alcohol on hand. But alcohol is very short-acting. For someone non-dependent on benzos, it doesn't really present a problem. Long-acting benzos self taper, phenobarbital's self taper is even longer due to its extremely long half life. Quitting drinking and not trying to taper is a better idea.
Cold turkey can have severe effects for both benzos and alcohol. Obviously, if you can avoid tapering with benzos, I'd recommend that-to stay away from dependency-which can occur very quickly. You're your own arbiter, so I can't control you-just-be informed.
ive been through withrdrawals before, incredibly shakey and sick. But i went to jail during withdrawals and the gave me librium. I went into intense hallucinations, woke in retraints at the hospital. Benzos were not good for me during withdrawal.
I always do an alcohol taper for about three days after a bender and it works great. I have a mild anti anxiety that helps with sleep. I get back in the wagon and save myself the horrid detox when going cold turkey..
what do i do when my mom is in in psychosis but is paranoid and thinks we’re keeping her hostage but the crisis team cant involuntarily commit her because of substance abuse laws?! now she’s ran away and the police won’t look for her because she’s not diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder other than alcoholism…. what do i do how do i help?

@@angru_arches No I haven't . Doing pretty good right now. I did make 2 YEARS . Your first couple months can be challenging. I think it all depends on how much and what type alcohol you drink on how bad it gets I could be wrong
Very interesting, my mum was a severe alcoholic I suspect she had alcoholic psychosis near the end of her life my dad was also an alcoholic who had to detox in hospital but I didn't know it at the time because he was a no show in my life for years lol oddly enough I'm a once in a blue moon binge drinker and have turned to alcohol in the past when I've been depressed it's pretty shit lol the binge drinking I've never considered it to be alcoholism though but the worst was when I drank in the mornings at school and stuff it is the worst feeling you feel like a walking broken corpse
I can't understand why some people who drink incredible amounts of Alcohol are o.k and others like one of my best friends are afflicted with delirium tremens , awful to see lovely people destroying their lives . Graham died a few years ago and I remember being shocked when he came to my home at around 3a.m screaming that rats were climbing up the walls of his bedroom , I took him home and pretended they had all gone to the farm next door . Please tell me why alcohol causes hallucinations similar to L.S.D. as part of my working life involved addiction and people who were not drug or alcohol dependent . The brain is the most complex area of the body and more funding and better , kinder attitudes need to be invested amongst staff and non staff alike . So sad ..
Not so much like LSD you don't have insight so you believe what you see is real and almost uniformly frightening, promoting paranoia etc horrible utterly horrible.
Many people with chronic alcohol disorder like myself have probably undergone "kindling" - a phenomenon in which the GABA receptors become hypersensitive. People that drink copious amounts of alcohol that have never suffered repeated episodes of use and withdrawal may, in fact, be better off when they quit as opposed to individuals who have binged and quit, binged and quit. Repeated withdrawals may cause the kindling process. The same applies to sedative/hypnotics. For kindled alcoholics, they can suffer significant withdrawal, including delirium tremens after relatively short periods of drinking and smaller amounts of alcohol.
@@ASchnacky you have no idea. Hallucinations I've seen from withdrawals are absolutely frightening. I've almost died because I kept thinking people were breaking in. Grabbed my gun and called the cops. They almost shot me because I was so delerius
I had a psychotic episode after blacking out not too long ago. I don’t remember anything about it nor did I drink a lot for it to happen, but it landed me in jail. I wish I wasn’t prone to these things but I am still going to quit for at least a very long time. We will all get through this together.

Three nights ago I hallucinated a dark figure when I woke up in the corner of my room that turned to me and slowly walked until it walked through me.... I don't EVER want to wake up to that EVER again...that fact it walked to me waking up was the most disturbing thing EVER. I've been doing everything I can rn to continue detoxing... I've made it to work 3 times rn and am doing much better than that night...my God talk about creepy.. I can't stop looking at that corner now.
I would clearly have been classified as an alcoholic this time last year; but, inexplicably and unintentionally, I just stopped 10 months ago. I was more of a binge drinker and didn't drink all of the time; but, being drunk for a few days or starting drinking at 7 in the morning could be a normal thing. Obviously exhibiting alcoholic behaviours that are extreme and not normal. I don't know what the trigger was other than I was going though a bipolar episode that on that occasion gave me a renewed fear of losing my health and my 54th birthday (at which I poured a drink, as one would for ones birthday, especially for a drinker. I had a few sips and poured the rest out. I just didn't want it. I haven't had a drink for 10 months and have no desire to drink; and, even if I were, either by habit, like on my birthday. or by desire, after 10 months of sobriety and better health, even if I think of it, I simply tell myself, why restart now? or, "do you really really want a drink? which is no, I don't feel like a drink, and then I just go on to the next task of the day. I know that I am blessed to have had this happen for me given what I know about how much of a struggle it has been for so many to quit. Only a very few being successful at quitting despite trying their very very best. My brother and sister in law are functioning alcoholics and freely admit to it. I am lucky. I am sharing this story, not JUST to be prideful in a way; but, to give some hope. It was a rare thing to have happened; but, it did, and I don't think I will ever go back to drinking. I'm not going 0 tolerance or complete abstention. I'm not gong to put that pressure on myself, but, I think this will stick. Don't give up people, it could happen for you too; and, if it does, take the gift from the cosmos and use the little bit of control you have been given and do something good with it. Good Luck.
I actually think you did a fantastic job. However I disagree with your constant shilling for pharmaceutical drugs as answers.......if you want to promote a drug to cure addiction, research the studies on psilocybin .
I feel so unhappy worrying about my brother in the us he calls me every day there’s nothing I can say or do he’s drink driving and he’s a truck driver he says there’s no cops over there there and he has no health insurance. I was given naltrexone ages ago and it works so well but we have health care for all here. I’m terrified for him and glad he drives in the middle of the night

The only thing that kept this from a perfect video. I mean perfect in everyway. But I kept noticing the spelling errors and that really bugged me. But that's just me being compulsive and critical. Other wise. This is the best educational video I have ever watched. This is actually the 4th psychiatric video I have watched for this channel. I'm addicted. What's best about my comment is while I am critical of your spelling in the video I have no desire to make sure my spelling was correct or punctuation. 🤣
I tried quitting once and had hallucinations of my gf comimg to me as a ghost and 2 little girls as ghosts saying they were murdered. But were so kind. Playing me my fav songs ans shows. It was scary but they were so kind.
