Love him or hate him, Rangers fans can't deny that Josh Hamilton was the major cog in reviving this franchise. If it weren't for the bullpen collapse in 2011, he would have been cemented as one of the greatest Rangers to ever after that 11th inning 2-run HR. Too many memories from him.
He did. He was a major part in both world series trips. But in his final year going ice cold and missing a fly ball to give Oakland the momentum. Then after than going 0-4 in the wild card game then going to the rival team surely didn't help his case.
He had his demons, but I truly think he was a good guy at heart. He was our Roy Hobbs. They haven't been able to get anyone close to his caliber since, and their performance ever since has shown.
halftimesportscards he was such a puzzling player but no denial how good he was for that brief amount of time. All Ranger fans would love him forever with a game winning home run to win the World Series had Cruz made that catch. I have never seen that play or game since the night it happened. The next time I watch it will be when the Rangers win their first World Series title. Then I can let that wound finally close.
Same here, was with my mom and dad, My father was filming the moment we struck Arod out, hes got a steady hand, but the sheer noise makes it look like we had an earthquake going on. Its honestly a real shame we could never bring that trophy home. This franchise has made so many memories for me and i want nothing more for them to win.
I miss this Rangers team! I miss Nolan Ryan being in the front office! I miss the ballpark always being packed and loud! I miss the claw and antlers! This is bittersweet.
There have been only 3 sports moments that I will never forget where I was. Ricky Williams breaking Tony Dorsett record, Vince Young scoring the winning TD vs USC to win the national championship and when Arod sent the Rangers to their first World Series on a called strike 3.
Beautifully tragic. This city deserves a championship more than anybody else after all the heartbreak and frustration we’ve been through in the past decade. #DFDUB
Texas beat the New York Yankees.A great series victory.Texas has won a American League Championship and finally Are Champions .I been a Texas Rangers fan for years.Through winning and losing seasons never give up.Never give up.Go Texas Rangers.
+Stiven Bonilla Still gives out chills every time you hear that along with "and almost poetically, Alex Roderiguez comes to the plate." Loved the fact that the TBS guys laid off and allowed the pictures to tell the story.
This might have been the most lopsided 6-game series in MLB history - the Rangers massacred the Yankees 31-6 in the four games they won and none of them were ever really competitive. I remember Girardi in the press conference after being all "uhh yeah, they pretty much kicked our butts all series, it was very one-sided"
1:51:52 Just tagging this cause you know your batting lineup is deadly when you have to walk Josh Hamilton and hope you can get Vladimir “I can hit anything you throw” Guerrero out
I think baseball is the best game ever was played I think the players are very skillful and very professional they can throw the ball I can hit the ball they can catch the ball they can do all sorts of things with the ball they can make her they can make it up players in the whole world like the best guy that ever hit probation ever Mickey mouse and all the other Legends
I never understood why Ranger fans pay WAY more attention to the Yankees than they do to teams in their division. It's like they think the two teams are rivals or something. Granted I know the Rangers are mad and hate A-Rod which I don't blame them but other than that there are 0 ties to either team. This series is one thing because they faced each other, but even in the regular season Ranger fans are far more concerned about when they play the Yankees than the Angels or A's. The Yankees and Rangers are not rivals. It's very odd to see. It's like every Ranger fan I know is always talking about the Yankees this and the Yankees that. I'm like ummmm You should probably focus on the A's who are going to own you for the 3rd straight year haha. But the way things are going in 2014 neither team will be playing come October. Another funny thing about the Rangers are, during the 2010 season they ragged on the Yankees for their payroll and whatever. Well now, four years later and the Rangers have more than doubled their payroll from $55M to $128M. It's like they enjoyed the tradition of winning and going to the world series so much that they figured they better start paying for better players because winning gets contagious. Hmmmm, sound familiar? Good luck to both clubs in '14. I think they'll both need it.
It's cause arod took steriods while with them and texiera mad a name for himself with the rangers and the yankees swept then 3 straight years in the division series in the 90s. So In a way the rangers have a score to settle with the yankees, but the yankees don't
Cody I understand that. But you can't be mad at Arod for taking steroids with the Rangers. Look at Conseco, Palmero, Juan Gonzalez. I mean tons of players took roids for the Rangers in the mid to late 90's as well as the early 2000s. Now hating Arod just because he's easy to hate and a huge d-bag is completely justified! haha.
+Dustin S. Rangers prior to this had only made the postseason three times. 1996 played the Yankees in the first round, won the first game then lost three straight to get eliminated. 1998 played the Yankees in the first round, swept out in three straight. 1999 played the Yankees in the first round, swept out in three straight. Lost 9 straight games to the Yankees in the playoffs coming into this series, this is in large part why Rangers' Fans saw them as a rival (really not so much anymore, more about angels these days), they were the obstacle they could never overcome till the '10 season and what made it all that much more special.
***** LOL wtf? you're an ass! ya'll let a away team made a grand slam. Adrian Beltre and Cole Hamels should get out of their organization on that trash ass team
