Traditional Indigenous hunting and foraging techniques of and for Southeast Alaska Native
peoples.
The Prince of Wales Harvest series partnership between Tlingit & Haida and Cedar Group began
in 2021 as an effort for the Tribe to catalog traditional Southeast Alaska Indigenous harvesting
practices. Tlingit & Haida's Cultural Heritage & Education Division and Cedar Group worked with
tribal citizens to prioritize and document 10 harvesting methods between 2021 and early
2023. A collaboration in 2023 between the Tribe's Cultural Heritage & Education Division
and Traditional Food Security Department placed an urgent and continued emphasis on the need to collect harvesting knowledge through the Harvest series platform.
