Thanks Ivan, the weather's the same up here. It's a shame about all the wind and rain at this time of year which we had up here last year and quite a few of my tomato plants ended up with blight, then due to the lack of heat mine struggled to ripen outside. Take care and all the best. Stevie

It’s been terrible weather here in Lancashire, pouring rain 🌧️ and cold winds 🥶 a very bad summer so far, we are about 4 weeks behind at least.

@@starlight1867 I'm in Lancashire too. Night temperatures are still regularly dropping well below 10degC, so very few female flowers being formed on my courgettes, and none being fertlised. What a waste.

Similar winds and rain last night and into the morning here in Lancashire. ALL my potted sunflowers blew over but fortunately none were damaged, and the top half of one of my sweet pea towers has ... disappeared. Quite where the canes and string have gone, I have no idea. I will leave any repairs until tomorrow as its still lashing down intermittently here. I daren't go up to the raised beds to look at my Broad Beans, French Beans and Early Onward peas - I'll leave that for tomorrow, too. I'm about to sow some more peas and some runner beans - maybe we'll have an Indian summer, we can but hope.

My toms have got some curled leaves as well, think is a combination of wind and rain then 10 minutes of boiling sun! My dwarf peas are only 6" tall but covered in peas. Thought they'd be a bit taller than that by now. It's a funny old year for the gardener.

The peas are looking great. So is the lettuce. My cucumbers are looking like yours. All the little fruit keep falling off mine. I'm going to check them again today and decide if I'm going to just pull them out and try again.

Hi Ivan, here on the Wirral, we had rain lashing down and thunder and lightning. But it only lasted about an hour. Your garden is looking great, but all this rain is bringing on the weeds.😢

had one tom that folded all it's leafs like that, I just left it as online advice was all over the place. recently the top kinda flopped over an a ton of new healthy growth started to come up from the bottom. So I just topped the plant to allow that fresh growth to grow, so far so good. Just wish I knew why it cureled in the first place...

Leaf curl can be too hot too wet and Aphids etc Check under the leaves for pests and do not over feed nitrogen Thank you

@kooltube100 Месяц назад
@@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk thanks, all I can say is it's too wet I guess? doubt it's heat cause the weathers been bad and I've not see any aphids underneath the leaves either. Interms of feed I highly doubt that would be the reason as if anything I underfeed as I often forget XD

@@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk just done another check and found something really interesting. I have a plum roma tomato plant that has leaf curl and it's a bush variety. I have let suckers grow as I am supposed too. But I've found that the suckers are the leafs with leaf curl. They seem to be trying to srpout new roots near the joint to the rest of the plant is... could it be that they are trying to get nutrient through the weird root nub growth rather than the actual plant? and maybe the sudden roots are due to the wet weather yet again?? so weird...

Hi Ivan, my peas were great and I’m growing a second lot. However my tomatoes are as you say very unusual. Lots of flowers but little fruit 😢 cucumbers are doing ok but they are inside. This cold, wet weather isn’t good for growing vegetables.

Your cucumber is probably suffering with the fact it has been so cold and we have had some cold nights. My outside cucumbers are still quite small but the one in the greenhouse is much better, albeit shorter than it would normally be by this time in July and at least has a couple of flowers on it, so I'm hopeful.

Hi Ivan, Outdoor tomatoes are always something of a gamble and this summer has been very much against a successful crop. Have you ever grown ridge cucumbers as they seem to do better out of doors than the other type that would be grown in a greenhouse or frame?
