I own this same tent, picked it up in December when it was on clearance for $14.99, and mine doesn't leak at the corners. The door did leak though. My second time using it, it was a REALLY bad storm so I ran a ridge line over top of it between two sturdy trees and made a big tarp rain fly that covered most of my camp site. The tent was really nice and dry then lol
Yes lets see more, i actually took a break from watching your videos and went to a few stores to check out the supplies to make a few of these videos. Its gonna be a fun spring through fall for me!
Great video! You could apply water repellent spray that you can get from walmart and do another text to see if it keeps out the water better. (Could also turn water off before you get in it just to see results a little better)
@zmk55 I’ve fixed leaks in the past and retested other tents and those videos don’t do as well as the first ones. I like to point out leaking areas so people know if they buy the tent. Turning the water off would help to get in but then I wouldn’t see the actual leak and where it’s coming from. I need a remote control hose to be able to turn it on and off from inside the tent lol. That would be cool! I also like to see how the doors do if it’s raining that way you know. Thanks for watching
I have a similar tent that U bought at Cabelas in clearance 20 years ago. Several applications of silicone spray when the tent was new have seen it through multiple thunderstorms and scouting outings from Cub to Eagle without leaks. Just a small amount if effort at the beginning really paid off. Also staking it so the sides are taught makes a lot of difference for condensation
@James Middleton that’s great man! Did you ever have to reapply the spray? I like to spray my tents annually when I do. But typically I use a tarp. I had the side guy outs tight on this tent. Thanks for watching
Burn count returns!!!! I’m guessing it will be a bit juicy at the second test but not the first. Happy Sunday Chris. I just found a new camp spot local in the city with 5 lakes and a recycled water creek running through the campsites. It’s not the wilderness, but pretty close to my house, and I can pretend I’m in the wild.
@Miles Robertson burn count returns lol. Happy Sunday bro. Sounds like a sweet spot. Some times you just need a place close to home to get away. Enjoy it! Thanks for watching
These tents are great but bring a tarp big enough to cover the entire tent to the ground. In a storm with wind they're weak but if you have a 10x10 tarp staked to the ground covering it these tents can take high winds. Bring a towel or two to mop up little leaks
@Mike Ries yeah I suggest using a tarp for sure! The tent itself for $35 is great for anyone starting to get into camping on the cheap. Thanks for watching!
@Bender Bender so glad you do! I also do. I love the sound of water on a tent or tarp and the surprise of seeing how a tent does. It’s fun. Thanks for watching!
Over the years I've seen new campers having their camping holiday ruined and going home because of leaking tents. Really there should be tighter regulations on tents being reasonably waterproof etc... It seems the States are the same as the UK concerning this issue. Enjoying your videos!👍
@Mike Hughes yeah ruined trips from rain really sucks. But can make for some great stories! Regulations on tents I totally agree with! Especially for hot tents, tent made for winter subzero temperatures. Those need to regulated for sure. So glad you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching
Definitely not surprised at the performance but for the price it totally can fill a slot. Cool that someone made a donation, big time youtuber now! Woo
@Corey Gunzzz right, there is a purpose for this tent. If you have a purpose, cover it with a tarp lol. Bro that’s exactly what I was thinking, Big time now! Thanks for watching
@Lee I like tent zippers too! I reminds me of someone waking up and it’s coffee time lol. Also like a good zipper cause messing with one with kids sucks! Thanks for watching
I love my marshmallows crispy like that but all the way around.. I DO let them cool 1st...lol... thats a tent that needs a rain/shade tarp over it but I like shade tarps even with my steel tent... I totally agree about cooking with those "portable campfires" even the homemade ones using a cookie tin, coiled cardboard and olive oil or wax are more ambiance fires than for cooking, they make a mess of your gear as well as giving the food an off taste
@Doc Ink I can see those gumming up a pot if you cooked over them. I too like a tarp over my stuff. Anything can happen and tarps are heavy and you can get them cheap. I prefer my mellos golden brown but I couldn’t get them toasted without burning them lol. I should have let them cool down but I was too excited lol. Kid in a candy store lol. Thanks for watching
I remember when I was a kid marshmallows would also turn black in a wood fire. As for tents, I got a couple at wall mart that we haven't used yet. And to be honest I didn't get them for serious camping. I got them in case the power goes out in our apartment in the winter. While I don't know how comfortable they will be I figure in a pinch maybe being a smaller area it will hold a little bit of body heat. Maybe that Aldis tent could also serve that purpose if somebody already has one. It's just a thought, not anything I can claim to have tested,so don't nobody rely on my idea as Gospel. Last time I talked to the wife about camping she said when we can we need to get one of them things that hooks to the van to park her wheelchair in and sleep in the van if we're going to camp.
@T Ritchie this wasn’t burn from the fire, the fire was giving off black smoke and just turned the Mello black. It was burnt as well but that wasn’t what I was trying to show. Using a tent indoors during power outage for a smaller space to keep warm is really smart! Thanks for sharing that. As for your wife and camping…… sounds like you need to get that tent that hooks to the van lol. Have fun and thanks for watching!
Another good test bud! I looked at that tent at our store and i am glad i didn't pull the trigger in it. So what tent are you going to test next? Keep up with the Spackmann water torture tests bud
@Jeff Jackson oh man I don’t know what’s next….. I do have a cool cooler accessory that I want to make a video with. As for tent, not sure. Glad you enjoyed bro, thanks for watching
@@AdventureswithSpackmann oh i know you have no clue. You're like me and fly by the seat of your caboose lol. What ever pops into your head at the time is what you try lol. Right lol?
@Kathleen Kendall Jacks Grandma lol that reminds of Super Troopers when the guy is dared to say Meow 5 times during the traffic stop. I’ve seen people put tents inside of tents to make the inside tent warmer. I said it 3 times too lol. Thanks for watching!
So my prediction is that this tent is really just a flawed Colman tent or the Chinese equivalent to a Colman therefore I just feel like this tent could be hit or miss, so even if this tent is a success the next ten or so could be flops.
So I have a youtube channel and I'm always looking for bad products to turn into good products and that's why I clicked your video. I sometimes even cut holes and sew in bug mesh fabric to create vent holes, but if it it gets too that point I just advise people not to buy it. Basically if a can of silicone spray can't fix it then I don't recommend it but I like to see what it takes to make products good.
@@JackStewartEnjoysRealEstate that’s awesome. If it leaks but the tents alright, budget friendly, quality good, I recommend a tarp. I’m a strong believer in covering my tent if there is rain in the forecast. Just what I do. What’s your channel? I’ll have to check it out.
@@AdventureswithSpackmann Jack Stewarts Outdoor Adventures. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MXM8GLCxjY0.html. This is the link to my personal favorite video, however people of youtube disagreed. I really had such a blast on this trip. I hiked 10 miles along a forest trail found an old Iron blast furnace, some iron Mines, had lunch along the river and watched a train go by. I did all this in supper early spring on snow and ice.
My channel is going through a complete over haul. I've had to many bad videos and I'm updating all my equipment because I want to upgrade my video quality. I've spent a few sleepless nights because of the fact the quality is not where I want it to be.
