Hi friend!
Do you love shopping at Aldi or looking for some easy recipes?
In today's video I'm going to take you along as I do my weekly grocery shopping at Aldi, then share with you my haul! I will also be doing prepping dinner and making Pinky Winky! It's so good!
Dinner recipes on the menu -
1- Greek Chicken Bowls (I share in the video) served over rice.
2- Creamy Tomato and Basil Chicken (aka Marry Me Chicken) - I bake the chicken and use fire roasted tomatoes instead of sun dried tomatoes. I serve it over rice. It's so good! - littlesunnykitchen.com/marry-...
3- Sheet Pan Pesto Chicken ( I just toss jarred pesto with chicken and a little white wine vinegar and let it marinate all day. Add to a sheet pan with veggies. Serve also with a side salad.
4- One-Pan Asian Ground Beef and Rice - www.fivehearthome.com/one-pan...
5 - Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork with coleslaw on brioche buns. Serve also with French fries. I also like to top it on baked sweet potatoes - www.motherthyme.com/2024/01/e...
6 - Mini Turkey Meatloaves serving with rice (you can also serve with mashed potatoes) salad and a veggie - www.fivehearthome.com/turkey-...
7 - Easy Hamburger Helper - served with a side salad - www.halfbakedharvest.com/one-... (I don't add the zucchini)

+ other items for salads, Big Mac Salad which I toss together with lettuce, pickles a little cheese, diced onion and cooked ground beef or ground turkey. I make a simple homemade 1000 island dressing. It's so good!

I always keep pasta and pasta sauce on hand to whip up for an easy meal too.
Greek Dressing
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon (about 1/2 lemon), juiced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
Add all ingredients to a jar, close lid and shake well. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
Over 7 easy-go to dinner recipes! I don't plan ahead what I am going to make each day unless it's an ingredient that needs to be used up first. Most of the time I decide the night before or the morning what I'm going to make with the "pool" of dinner ingredients I've picked for the week or let the family pick.
I keep my list of recipes on the menu for the week going and cross them off until I get low, then I start working on my meal plan for the following week, rotating go-to recipes and I always like to add a few new ones into the rotation to keep things fun and trying new recipes!

Oh my Jenn, I love Aldi. I have been shopping Aldi when they had black and white labels, no name, vegetables. It said corn, peas, beans. My boys would remove those labels so their friends wouldn't know we had black and white labeled cans. What they didn't know their friends moms probably had them too. 😂I never knew what I was getting when I opened the can. Great memories. Can't beat Aldi.. In my 70's now still shopping Aldi. Thanks for sharing. What a great haul you got, and the price is right!!

What a great story! I love that! I used to put Aldi chips in a name brand chip bag and my kids never knew. lol! I would do that with a few other things too. Now they don’t care as long as it’s good. lol! It’s such a great store! I love their prices, variety and that I can get in and out quickly. 😀

I prep ingredients. Today I got a delivery order from Walmart (we don’t have Aldi) and have washed, peeled, chopped and diced vegetables. It makes it so easy to throw a healthy meal together.

I’ve made your pinky winky like you do and then I’ve made it a couple other ways. Use strawberry jello and peaches or lime jello and either pineapple tidbits or tropical fruit. This is a good and fast dessert for picnics too. I enjoy your videos

I LOVE Aldi’s. Currently I take my 91 year old mother-in-law (she’s a gem!) to Meijers so she can get her groceries so I shop there. I go to Aldi’s when I’m on my own. My daughter homeschools her three kiddos and now has a teenager. She said she couldn’t believe the increase in her grocery bill with a teen and preteen. I’d love to see your menu plans. I like to menu plan and sometimes just run out of ideas. I have a list of things my sweet (somewhat fussy eater) husband likes but always look for more options. Feel free to share more of your recipes :)

Awww! I love that! I do that with my dad too. He likes Tops which is like a Meijers then I go across the street and do my shopping at Aldi. 😉 I love their prices, selection and of course their seasonal items too. I love that I can get in and out fast too! I try to create my menu plans with most items I can get there or find an Aldi substitution for an ingredient they might not carry. Have teenagers, especially my son is always hungry so sometimes I’ll even use a dinner idea for lunch so that’s why I tend to over plan so I have a variety to pull from that works for lunch or dinner, especially since they don’t typically eat sandwiches. I’m so glad you enjoyed this!

I went to Aldi once. I saw a ton of gluten free options and got excited. Drove the 2 hours to the closest one and left with produce and stuff for kids. My teenagers didn’t care for their snack cakes and the gluten free options for everything had other things l am allergic too. Great haul. I love checking out prices on produce this way

Great video! I love this style of videos to get inspiration for making something new. You could do videos like this once or twice a month as far as I'm concerned.😊. My mom would make a version of your Pinky Winky salad, but we called it Strawberry Fluff. The only difference is she used strawberry Jell-O and diced strawberries. Sometimes she made Orange Fluff, and you guessed it, that one would have orange Jell-O and mandarin oranges.

I love the Aldi Brioche buns, cashews, Avocado oil and baked goods. I never ever have any luck with their produce, doesn’t last at all once I bring it home, their blueberries are the worst. Could be my area who knows. Your haul looks way better than any haul I’ve ever brought home. ❤

I love Aldis organic milk. I have a 2 week menu for my family. I at tines have crock pot meals, so I'll prepare those on Friday. Most of my shopping is at Aldi. Then I do bogo at Publix. I also do Walmart grocery.

Pinky winky, never heard it called that, but that is one of my favorite salads I usually take that when I need to take a salad to a function. You got a lot of groceries at Aldi. We don’t have one. Hour and a half we have a Trader Joe’s which I think is the same family. Such a good store.

We just recently got an Aldi about an hour away from us and I like a few of their products. When I go, I get two cases of catsup at a time. LOL. But I buy everything in bulk and have a grocery store room in our home and four huge freezers. As much as you cook, have you ever looked into Azure Standard for groceries? Between buying in bulk from Azure, and buying all of our meat/eggs from one local farmer, I only have to buy dairy and fresh produce at regular grocery stores. We stock about a year's worth of food at all times whether store bought, home canned, home grown, hunting, or local farms, so rarely in the stores. But Aldi is certainly worth going to when we are in that area.

Hi! I love that you mentioned Azure! I love them too! I try to order from them every few months. The drop off is a little out of the way for me so I don't do it monthly plus with winter I didn't go much because I didn't want to commit to picking up items if the weather is bad. Now that hopefully spring is here I plan on doing a haul and loading up on some of their ingredients I like. You can't beat their prices on good quality ingredients. I would love to get to the point like you where I just go for some dairy or fresh produce.

@@MotherThyme My husband and I have always been the type to keep our home well stocked with not only food but toiletries, OTC meds, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. When the pandemic struck, I had a few days notice that everything was going to shut down because of the line of work one of my daughters is in. I had just done my regular shopping, including picking up the normal two big packs of Charmin at Sam's Club! LOL. When I knew what was about to happen, I went to the store and got a few gallons of milk and came home. I didn't go back for three months for anything except curbside pick up of dairy and fresh produce. We never ran out of anything. Afterwards, we realized how fragile things really were and decided it was a great idea to stay that well stocked all the time. It took a minute but it really gives us a sense of security. I also home can SO much food. Always have home canned jams, fruit, pickles, peppers, beans, chicken, beef, venison, potatoes, chicken and beef stock, soup, stew, etc. But it has never been done out of fear. It is just a way of life like my grandparents lived. We have children and grandchildren that we consider when I put up all this food. Just makes life simpler and more secure in this very crazy world we are living in now. And, once I stocked up well, I just do huge Azure hauls quarterly. I didn't order all Winter either!

I love that many of Aldi's products are artificial dye free. Their "Kool aid" , fruit rings cereal, water enhancers, and many other items I can give my daughter who is dye sensitive.

I was in Trader Joe's last week and this woman was talking about Hearts of Palm pasta and said it was delicious. Let us know. I had to come back and add. The bowls look amazing. I think if you replaced the cottage cheese with ricotta, than maybe, but the greek salad looks good & I do love Aldi, wish we had them where I live.
