Aldi yarn event- come shopping with me! 

With events like these there should be a limit on how many you can buy, it's not fair on others like me who can't get on the starting days miss out from others being greedy, we all have projects but we also have consideration for others, love u muchly Alice keep smiling 🙂 xx

Makes me want to get out of there. There should have been a limit on them. Maybe there is and ha ha they had to leave the extras behind. I haven't been to Aldi's for ages, simply for the same reason you have said. I hate shopping, hate crowds, hate rude, greedy people. Well done for going and you picked well. I probably would have chosen exactly the same colours as you. xx

I can't go at the start of a yarn event. I got trapped between the greedy people once and flipped out. I went the next day and got couple of the multi coloured baby yarn and some chunkys. No blues left and I had to dig for the others. They would make lovely monsters. Thank you for sharing. Hi to Abigail x

It's really nice to see the joy on your face! However, I'm from Germany, the home of Aldi, and I've NEVER seen a Yarn Event at Aldi. I don't think that exists at all in Germany. But it's great that you're having so much fun! 😁

Hi Alice, wow what a nightmare I would not be goo in that situation, I would have terrible trouble keeping quiet at the ladies filling there trolleys 😂. You got some great yarn they would be fab for amigurumi’s, blankets and definitely a cardigan. I did pop in last night and they had some left but not much chenille. I don’t really use chenille and chunky yarns and only went into look so was a good girl 😊. Have a wonderful rest of the week x

i was just about to comment on the reselling as you brought it up too!! they really do act like its the apocalypse, honestly good on you for braving it and im glad you got something for yourself. we dont have aldi here in ni but i refuse to buy any from resellers for this reason too, i dont support that kind of behaviour!!

Those chunkies would make a gorgeous blanket! I never go to the aldi yarn events because like you say there are many selfish people about. It’s a shame for the people like us who only pick up what we will use instead of people filling up trolleys to sell on! Hello lovely Alice! I swear we are like the same person, haha! I hate shopping for many reasons but the biggest is because people are out there!!! And omg people are like vultures for sales! I mean, for real! What are you going to do with that yarn!?!? And if they are selling it, that ruins the fun for the people that actually want to use it. It's like when covid started and people were buying all of the toilet paper! It made it hard for the people who only just needed their regular toilet paper. People wonder why I don't like leaving my house, haha!!! The yarn you were able to get is super cute and looks very soft. Our Aldi's in our area don't sell yarn :( Make anything with that yarn that you can cuddle with cause it looks super soft! :) I hope you have a great week, love! Hugs ❤

I like it when Lidl also sells yarn, it does not sell it as often as Aldi but they usually also have a multi buy offer on some. I stayed clear of Aldi this time after finding some lovely marbled yarn in Home Bargains and only just managed to hide/stash that away from husband's sight as he considers I have enough wool lol

I also went along to the aldi on Sunday just for the yarn, I ended up spending £61 on yarn and ingredients for a roast dinner for my family of 4 😆 I picked up some green and blue chunky yarn, planning on making some bobble stitch Christmas trees with the green chunky yarn (mj’s off the hook has a pattern), I also got the blue, pink and white of the chenille yarn and I’ve already made a baby bear hat and booties in the blue, and plan to make more sets out of the other colours. Then I just got some DK yarn in grey and blues…. I actually picked all the yarn with a plan in mind, which I don’t usually when I buy yarn! In the aldi I went into it wasn’t crazy around the yarn bins, there was another girl there with her boyfriend and she picked up a lot of chenille yarn and think she was planning on making some baby blankets with hers….

i brought the baby yarn last year and wasn't really a fan tbh but i went again this time and I'm pleasantly surprised. the yran is softer and not as stiff to work with as previous years and also the colour ranges are beautiful!

Those filling up their trollies will be selling on most definitely. Think they should have a cap like 4 balls of the same colour per person to make it fairer.

I began crochet yesterday. I went to Aldi, saw lots of yarn, bought lots of colours to try them out and I’m now 1/4 way through making a huge (all in one) granny square blanket for my dog. I happened across your video whilst wondering if I should go back and get more…. Question now answered. Home bargains have beautiful chunky white and grey yarn where I am as well. I’m thinking of getting more of that too. I can see everyone getting hand made blankets from me in the future 😂.

Hi, I happened to go into an Aldi on our way to visit my Father in law and bought 4 of the peachy baby yarn (multi coloured) but could only find 2 of the blue/ purple yarn but also got 4 cakes of multi coloured yarn .... all really cheap .... and only me foraging in the yarn bins!!!! I have never heard of these events but will now keep my eyes peeled for them. So glad to have found your channel .... I love how much we can learn from each other ( maybe some of those ladies in the scrum might take note!!!)

Beautiful colours, I love what you picked out. That’s one of the reasons why I’d rather be home too lol, the crazy crowds and rude people. So lucky you get deals like that for yarn, I’m in Canada and the deals are not that great.

I went yesterday (Tuesday) after the school run, I’d never been before and was proud of myself for finding it (2 buses with electric wheelchair) I was the only one looking at it there wasn’t a huge range but I got 3 different shades of the chunky & 2 each of the chenille colours they had left x

Found these in our local Bedford Aldi ...plenty of balls.... Got peach and the yellow.. Made scarf tonight.. Love the colours...

Hi Alice, our Aldi is useless when it comes to the special buys, we don't get any of the decent stuff. The worst thing they ever did was stop the online shopping, it was the only way a lot of us had the chance of getting any of the stuff on offer. As a wheelchair user, there is no way I would be able to deal with what you did. Many people are greedy and selfish, they don't give a monkey's about others, it's all about me, me, me, you wouldn't believe how many times I've been hit in the face with bags and elbows, etc because people want to grab everything, before anybody else gets to it. This is one of the reasons that I don't leave the house very often, I get so naffed off with ignorant, selfish people that it's easier to keep myself away from them, lol. I love all the colours you got and if everybody did the same as you, a lot more people would have the chance of getting some, but, unfortunately, that's not the world we live in. However, if Aldi had the decency to put a limit on how many of each, people were allowed, that would possibly make a difference too. I would have loved to get some of the multicoloured baby yarn, I'm like you, I have plenty of plain colours, but something different would be nice, just to be able to change it up a bit. I live across from an Aldi, but my hubby said he'll take me to a bigger store locally, first one we went to didn't open till 11am so we went to the next one, managed to get enough baby for a blanket, and two each of the chunky, and 8 of the Green Aran for a cardigan. lucky it wasn't too bad, I only got a basket but hubby said to get a trolley but didn't fill it, only bought what I know I would use. I think we have 6 Aldi's within a decent short drive

You are right about some people grabbing as much as they can at sale prices and selling for much higher. I needed just one skein of a color to finish a project and it was being discontinued. Another woman came in and bought every last one of them and then went to all the other locations that had it and bought all they had. When there was no store that had any left and no more would be sent to the stores. A week later she started selling single skeins at a time on eBay and other sites. It was last on sale for $3.99 discontinued and she was asking and getting $18.00 a skein for it. I sent a message to the yarn company and they decided to start making and selling that color again after they verified what was being done.

I had no idea Aldi could have yarn. I’ll have to look at mine.

Love the all colours you bought well done. I whole heartedly agree with you about people being greedy Aldi should have a limit on how many people are allowed to purchase so everyone has a fair chance.

As you said the trolley fillers, grab it all types are often the ones who sell it on ebay at double the price 😞

I went to my Aldi and spent £48 it was quite quiet, was hoping for brown chenille but there was none, so sad lol, only need a little bit to make a flake and didn’t want to buy a ball from a wool shop. Xx

I always buy Aldi yarn. I’m allergic to wool unfortunately, and I have four knitting machines which I use as well knitting a lot by hand. I don’t have a lot of money either so acrylic yarn is brilliant for me. I’ve had jumpers that I made years ago and they’ve washed and worn well. I have looked at all the beautiful ‘real” wool in our local shop with longing but they’re not for me sadly. I’ll keep checking out Aldi stock.

I got two each of most of the yarns, and a bunch of cream for a blanket I'm making. I spent £96. There was one other lady there when I got there who had taken ALL of the white and green baby yarn.

As their yarn events are so successful,Aldi’s should think about stocking yarn all year round. Most villages used to have wool shops but they are now gone. Sorry your visit was traumatic Alice,.❤

I am sooo glad, you've said the things you've said - I've thought it all! I must admit, I haven't even bothered to go to this event this year due to what you mentioned. I just cba with being elbowed for acrylic yarn!! nothing against acrylics, love them ... but I don't think theyre any different to any of the others you can buy on sale online - restock at anytime... with the special buys, I always think, if I run out of it... I'll never be able to buy it again ... which, I actually mention in one of my vids. Ahh anyway, rant over - do LOVE what you did end up getting though. Will be watching more of your vids! xx

Hi Alice, I managed to get to Aldi's on Monday and bought 6 of the green/blue baby yarn. I was surprised at how much yarn was there as they were on sale in my Aldi's from the Thursday before. So far I have made a little mouse for my cat! It really annoys me too when I see people selling the Aldi's yarn for a lot more than what they would have paid.

Oh no! I missed this one! I got a couple last year, but didn't know this was on. I buy aran myself, and bought some of those yarn cakes last time. I loved the look at that blue ombre that you passed over with your camera, but there's no way our store will have any more of this now. :(

I went on Sunday morning. I was the only person at the yarn, it was the hairdryer and some face cream that the other folk were after. I asked in a crochet group how many balls of the chunky yarn I'd need for a decent sized blanket and was told 32. There are ladies out there who fill trolley after trolley. They then post yarn to people in NI and the Highlands who don't have a local Aldi's and want this yarn. These people pay the shop price plus the postage. I've bought loads this time, the yarns cheap and I donate the blankets I make to charity. So I'm not sorry I bought loads. But yes there are already listing on Ebay with this yarn at ridiculous prices. N that chunky pink is soooooo pretty.

I was at Aldi for opening on Sunday as well there was only me there for the yarn which supprised me really. I got two of each colour of the baby yarn maybe i should of got 4 but didn't want to be greedy. Everyone else there early where there for the hairdryer apparently they were busy being mad women with them so i got to shop in peace after missing out last time.

i went today and got 4 balls of the blue grey aran and 4 balls of the caramel Dk. I wouldnt put myself though the hell of that sort of event, our local seems to have plenty of choice still

I was one of those crazy ladies that filled my trolley with yarn "in seconds" but that's because I knew I cannot buy get to Aldi and buy yarn for several years. I love those variegated chenille yarns and it does look like the super bulky yarn is better quality than before, love the colours, too, but I have enough yarn to watch in piece and not to have FOMO, no matter how pretty or cheap the yarn is that someone is showing.

Im not a fan of Chunky Yarn but im glad you managed to get some at a good price. The smaller the needles and 3 or 4ply for me😁

I've seen a bunch of videos on tiktok of people taking trolley fulls of yarn and just watching them makes me anxious like there is no need to hoard that much 😭😭

I didnt make it in time for the baby yarn, i saw a few women with their trolleys full of the baby yarn (the shelf was completely empty). At least i got a few of the chunky yarn to make my world book day costume

Hello, I’m very new to the knitting world. I was wondering is this chunky yarn the same thickness as all chunky yarn? I managed to get 2 balls just to begin with but am now looking for more of the same thickness, I wasn’t sure if it was all the same? :)

The Aldi stores here in the States do not sell yarn. Live in Texas and have not seen any yarn in these stores. Thanks for sharing.

I went to my local store on Wed to my surprise they still had lots so I bought 10 candyfloss baby yarn to make a dolls carry cot and blanket set for my niece. Sorry your visit was such a traumatic experience. 😢

As someone who doesn’t have a lot of money I’ve been very sick recently and that day i found out about the yarn I went fast and I only bought a few because was like half an isle of yarn came back 1 day later and there’s only a couple of Aran yarn left I was so mad

Most of the chunky was gone when I got there, I just got 2 chunky and 10 baby yarns, 2 I gave to my boyfriends mum. So I have 8 to work a project with im ok with that I don't need tons im already lacking space lol it was mad going in!

We have limited small shops for yarn in Jersey Uk. I wish we had an Aldi. Can you please tell me if you know of any UK pooling yarns. I’ve seen US pooling yarns but they aren’t always available online. I buy 80% of my yarn online but shipping from US not cheap
