Another video with the swedish folk music maestro, Ale Carr.
Here he plays two waltzes: The first one is Träskovals från Skäralid efter Per-Joel Berndtsson, and the second one is Vals efter Ola Lans.
The cittern, along with other fretted string instruments like the mandola or bouzouki, found its way into the scandinavian folk scene in the 80's, and has since become a staple.

Once again here's a piece of Scandinavian traditional music with a pleasing combination of energy and dignity.

Ale Carr, how do you tune your cittern for this piece? Say the 5 courses low to high ---open strings? It's wonderful!

Hey! It's my trusty old DGDAD, quite flexible tuning while being open enough to feel free 🙂

Beautiful song, is the Cittern tunes the same as the irish bouzuki and where would I be able to find one? Best regards

I could be wrong but I think it's DGDAD. Similar to an Irish bouzouki.

I'm not totally sure but I believe they are Royer ribbon mics.

That is a Royer, probably a 121, ribbon mic. Those are lovely instruments, very true.
