for Van't Hoff's factor you gave HCl a factor of 2, I thought that you could only use this with ionic compounds?

A little late, but you're correct with ionic compounds (particularly water-soluble compounds); although Hydrochloric acid it's a strong acid and will break apart into it's component ions to form H+ and Cl-, therefore making the theoretical van't hoff factor equal to 2.
