For those wondering why he was questioning the ownership of the bags , People tend to forget the London bombing attacks of the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's.
It’s sad how these brave soldiers and their horses are treated like an amusement at a theme park or petting zoo. They deserve respect for the job they are doing.
Obviously I’m talking about the guards “in the box”. I respect that the Guards & their horses are on duty…..working. Stupid people grabbing the reins should not be allowed.
@@pandyjohnson8980 They never attack unless they are on the defensive (which is rare). When they get in the way, they just shout and if the other person doesn't take them seriously, then they can drag him into their path.
This Trooper is one of my Favourite Life Guards. He appears in many Videos. He seems a little older than many of the Young Troopers in both Regiments & with age comes Wisdom in any long Serving Soldier. He also understands the PR part of his Job, I have seen him tell Children & their Parents to come closer to have their Photos taken & he always acknowledges the Thank yous' he receives with a slight smile & nod of his head. Having said that, I really wouldn't like to upset him, Sword or no Sword.
Guards are very tuned into what’s going on around them & their horses so a backpack & suitcase even though those tourists looked harmless to the Guards it could be a possible threat well done lads.
All army personnel & their families are fine tuned to be aware of the risks. As an army 'brat' in Aden for 2 years, then back to Germany when the Bader Meinhof group were active and also the IRA. Soldiers and wives knew what to be aware of.
@@PhyllisGlassup2TheBrim Back at you. Thank you for your father's service. My Dad US Army. I'm also an 'Army' brat & proud of it, Kaiserslautern, Honolulu, Bangkok, DC area, Columbus GA & California. There ARE sacrifices. My Mom was an Army nurse during WWII. She knew what we were in for.
THAT is why they are there as a first line of security. Security risks come in many forms. They are there to protect and prevent harm and not just look pretty, as some disrespectful tourists think. You are correct. He did and always does, an awesome job.
@@susanharrison6401 You must live a very sheltered life. I doubt you live in London and have experienced bombing or the theft of luggage momentarily left unattended. How nice for you. If it was your luggage stolen you would be the sort suing the guard for not preventing it. 😂
The changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Where else in the world can you see such splendour, dedication, synchronisation and spectacle? It makes me proud to be British. Long may you flourish
Many different countries put on a more precision and splendid military display. In the past, the British were number one at this, but now their manner is sloppy and less and less British.
@@lynetteguest1598 I'll be truthful, I have no idea who does or does not do it better or best. I absolutely do know these Soldiers 💂♂️ are very impressive. They are very sharp and spot on. I see nothing sloppy about them. So continue to be proud of them because they are outstanding. By the way, I'm from deep South Texas and I'm as proud of your fine British military as I am the USA military. God bless and keep you and yours. 😊 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
FGS! Cavalrymen are called Troopers. Their Horses are Chargers. The Cavalry men are all called Troopers as the ones on foot also take their turns Mounted. The Infantry Men at Buckingham, Kensington & St James Palaces, The Tower, Clarence House & Windsor are called Guardsmen. They are the ones in Ceremonial Bearskins & Red Tunics. The Cavalrymen at Horse Guards work on a One hour on & two hour off Roster. So the Troopers on Horseback do 1 hr on the Horse, then do another hour dismounted. Did you think they work 1 hr & go back to Barracks? The only ones who aren't called Trooper are Officers & those who work looking after the Horses, they are called either Stableman or Strappers.
Well done to my favourite Guard for being highly observant while on duty at all times, especially this time. It does not bear thinking about what could happen when we least expect it. So proud of the guards & horses. 👍🏻⚔💂🏻💂🏻♂💂🏻♀🐎❤🤍💙
There was a bombing years ago and horses and guardsmen were seriously injured. There may have been deaths among the horses These soldiers and police are protecting tourists and Londoners alike. Well done.
yes, unfortunately that wasn't an isolated incident in my home state[montana]. it just boggles my mind what stupid people do in the presence of wild animals. extremely wild and ferocious animals.
👩🏻💻Many years ago when the Salt Lake Jazz played the Chicago Bulls in basketball I was fortunate to be able to go to a game in Chicago. When the game was over I exited the venue and saw a really calm crowd of people as the police on horseback gently walking amongst the crowd. I have never experienced this phenomenon of horses among the people. I think of this experience when I observe people agitating these royal horses doing their duty, the beauty of this soldier doing his duty on such a beautiful animal strikes me as majestic and with strength without even having to say a word. 🙋♀️🥰🇺🇲🇬🇧
Beautiful horse. I'm sure that they train these horses and the ones used by police to be okay with people brushing by them and stuff. That would have been an interesting experience to see in real life.
Sometimes it seems the tourists think the horses are pet horses who have someone dressed up as a soldier for the day.sitting on their back. A tourist attraction for entertainment. I don't think anyone realises they're actually British soldiers.
Well spotted. His demeanor looks out of place, 2:45 everyone is smiling or looking around taking in the sights, he's staring straight ahead trying not to be noticed.
Certainly looked that way to me. You can see her holding onto it when she returned from having her photo taken. It cannot be a surprise thieves are operating amongst the crowds.
@@someonegetsteve He's literally holding onto the bollard just looking around at the horse. He doesn't look like he's trying not to be noticed. He looks like he's just standing there and watching what's going on. He's also obviously got resting bitch face. If he was trying to steal the bag he'd be closer to it and wouldn't have his back to it. He's not a threat. Obviously.
I think it’s disgusting the way tourists treat these guards and their horses…makes me so angry to see how oblivious these people are to what they are doing, as long as they get their photo they do not care…😡
This place is like made as a tourist attraction. Of course people are gonna take picture of this. People act like we actually live in the medieval ages in which these silly looking guards were necessary. If tourism was a problem they would use normal looking guards.
@@MyButterfly60 The tourists are mostly grown adults who should know better anyway!! There is also blame on the powers that be, there should be a huge shake up of how and where tourists can stand….i don’t think they should be allowed to touch the horse…Period!! 😡 my sons are 33 & 36 and they would never ever mistreat anyone let alone a member of the kings guards or horses…they are also very respectful when visiting other countries… Manners cost nothing!! 😁
Our famous Karen has been seen leaving her bags unattended. we have her down as just a pest but she could be a terror threat. She leaves her bags , gets told off by police several times, they see her bags one day and go look for her to tell her off again when they explode. unattended bags are always a security risk.
Not many tourists drag their luggage around London, so he was well in order. Perhaps the tourists have not heard about the IRA blowing up the Household Cavalry on its way to Whitehall in 1982. I was working in London at that time. Stuff going off (Old Bailey) and all litter bins removed. I worked on The Times and we were continually being told to evacuate the building. Pain in the butt. Standing in the car park waiting for the glass to be blown out at you.
She was one of a kind, the mould was broken when she was born a tough act for King Charles to follow especially as so many want and expect him to fail including the ungrateful whinging son that lives with his obnoxious wife in Montecito.
I miss her so much ,it is not the same with out her….and I remember her coronation and how wonderful it was …..Keep up the good work England and the wonderful guards ….
It goes to show that they can speak to the public if it falls within his role whilst on duty, whether it be a possible terrorist threat or a potential robbery I guess both could be seen as a security matter. They’ve got a good vantage point from the saddle and are likely trained to be very observant and recognise things which are out of the ordinary. Tourists coming up for a photo with the horse, whilst it might be a minor irritation, is to be expected.
The British are a non-threatening military. They are more of a tourist attraction and a sloppy one at that. It's girly attitudes like yours that have weakened European militaries and made them vassals of the USA. But never fear, your attitude is starting the same weakness in the US military. Let's hope for your sake, we don't need to depend upon them.
I don’t know how the Kings Guards deal with that every day- they are actually trained military and have to deal with being treated like a spectacle - obviously their training shows that they are still observant to what is going on there and aware of obvious possible threats - well done to them - they are not just show ponies like a lot of people think 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺
I have done such work, but never in such a public setting. Even then, I had to deal with idiot tourists, morons who could not keep their hands to themselves, and people who simply could not understand that some things should not be done, public or no. What a LOT of people do not realize is that while these soldiers are dressed in historically accurate uniforms and trained to basically stand there and do nothing, they ARE serving soldiers and they have a duty to perform. Cross their duty at your peril. It has been shown lots of places. King's Guard around the palace in the UK, Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the US, other units in other places, no matter where they are do NOT assume that because they look funny that they are not paying attention and/or are harmless. IT WILL HURT. 'nuff said.
The parade reminds me of my dad. At the beginning of his career he was bandsman in the Manchester Regiment - joined aged 14 in 1946. He changed to RAMC and RAOC - 27 years total. In the day, my brother played imaginary instruments with him in the band, and he taught us how to slow and quick march. It was a great childood, so.many lovely memories from many different postings. ❤😘
To ALL who come to see these Soldiers, Please Respect these Amazing Men and Women and know the Horse is a Soldier too who are NOT there for your Disrespectful and Exhausting behavior !
For those questioning he saw a suitcase that appeared unattended. He checked to see who it belonged to. I mean come on if you have to stand in a crowd in this place with a big suitcase or any large bag keep your hands on it. He was being careful doing his job and if he had ignored assuming it was innocent that could be the one time it was serious. Yes I still remember the London bombings and I like many Londoners were back on the tube, trains and buses the following days. I remember at Kings Cross just a couple of days after this stupid woman left her suitcase unnattended. I alerted the nearest policeman and when she finally appeared the group of police waiting gave her a right telling off. Sigh stupid is as stupid does.
Why don't they keep the people away from the guards on their horse. If a emergency happened they would go into action and people would get hurt or worse. These men have a job and will do it . All these tourists are just stupid.
That's their jobs; they are soldiers, not props, and this is a duty station. Their patience and discipline are monumental indeed considering how tourists treat them.
I think it’s about time the government stopped all this nonsense and kept away the crowd from upsetting the horses and let the soldiers do there job. I think it’s a security risk.
People need to respect these soldiers. They’re doing their duty and shouldn’t be photographed endlessly by tourists who don’t appreciate what they’re doing.
I respect them for their brave duty of protecting royal people that dont do shit but smile and wave around while eating up tons of tax money. And dressing up like a fool from the napoleonic era really is necessary and its not totally obvious that this show is gonna attract tourists.
This horse has a lovely pink nose…..beautiful creature. I still don’t understand why the public are allowed so close to the horse and rider, and the area. (Look how many backpacks there are in this video). The horses are so vulnerable. There should be a barrier somewhere…..and that lovely white horse was walking in time with the music.
You have to wonder if someone would think it's ok to approach and pet or take an upclose photo of an on-duty police canine. Same thing...on duty horse and guard. Show respect!
I Guarantee if i went to the country of these tourists and did the same to their guys and gals they would cry racist or blue murder. As a proud brit i go to alot of other countries and respect every part of their manor. Alot of foreigners wonder why we dont like them when they move here
Long live the King and his soldiers. What they do on a daily basis enduring packs of picture hungry wolves. They sometimes don't ever get the respect they deserve. Magnificent display ❤💯🇨🇦
He was talking to the lady who had left her suitcase and bag by post while had photo taken he was telling her to go back to them as a guy had moved next to her bags while her back was turned guard didn't want her luggage to get stolen by the guy
It is a majestic sight to see on video. I'd say more spectacular in person. The honor, obedience they have is beyond measure. Just like the guards at the "Thumb of The Unknown soldier's" all 2,111 of those brave soldiers that lost their lives for freedom we have today that liberals take for granted.
Whose dumb idea was it to allow the disrespectful people to have contact with these horses. It might be rather dangerous one day. Hope they change the rules for the security of the Guardsmen and their Horses!!
To save anyone the ache of watching this 2:18 and 2:32, a tourist stepped away from their suitcase and the guard asked not really loudly if they belonged to the tourist. That's it. Nothing more.
