I still have mine from 2004. Use it every week in our band jams and it sounds so good. It can produce bass too. Just need to tweak/replace most of those presets.
Highly underrated! Had one from 2013 -2017. I sold it and within six months not only realized I had made a mistake, I actively began searching for one in very good to excellent condition. Found one for $400. Now I have one again and LOVE IT... Very versatile synth!
Had one for years and sold it. Thought it was great to play around with but it never sat well in my recordings. It always sounded artifical and "plastic" IDK how to explain it, you can kind of hear it here. I'd record it and it just stood out like a sort thumb never mixing well. Anyway, don't regret it at all. There was one sound that did work well though, a wurlitzer sound that I copped from someone on youtube. That was a good sound and got used on my album.
An even better Alesis synth, their last digital synth that had deeper capabilities and a truer analog sounding VA engine along sample synthesis was the Alesis Fusion. Had some issues with its sequencer, but worth it just for its synthesis engine and deep modulation possibilities.
Greatest modeler ever. I still own mine from 2004. Sometimes they have glitches, but mostly low volume output problem which I have found a way to permanently fix once and for all....
There is one for sale close to where I live and I'm looking for videos to hear how it sounds and I haven't found many. Why's that? Didn't anybody buy this synth? is it that bad? Are they too lazy to make a video about it? From what little I have heard, it sounds pretty unique. Anyway, I'm between either this or an Ultranova..
take out the FETs or rerplace them , the ones at the output. Or like me, just use the auxilary outputs & never hot plug the synth..( plug in or out leads while it is on, this causes the output fets to blow.)
hello, even I have an Alesis ion that besides having the usual problems related to the output volume also has the problem of some screens of the settings that appear without me touching anything ... especially the FM settings screen or prefilter mix ... what could be to cause this? ... this problem is also related to the audio output transistors?
yeah you have a blown transistor on the right output i think. there used to be a tutorial online on how to replace it. i did it about 10 year ago and mine sounded amazing afterwards,
I thank you very much Tom, your answer to my question was very useful to me, in fact I have to bring my Ion to a technician for these repairs .. unfortunately another weakness of this keyboard is the poor quality of certain materials ... for example the knobs of the potentiometers melt or deform with the heat ... I had to replace all them

If you just look for patches (new sounds) then you probably have to buy it from some dude that sell.. like chronosproject : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uHAbfTMdfx0.html :: or some Free: soundcloud.com/yoozer/alesis-ion-patch-design
