hey i’m a singer and i bought a 25 keys midi keyboard. Is 25 keys enough to learn piano (rythm , chords) and play along while singing? for acoustic covers? my one is full sized , semi weighted key tho.
Thanks for the detailed review! I just wanted to add that the V midi editor allows you to change pad notes and you can map them chromatically. Also you can send pads to the 2nd midi channel to play different instruments with keys and pads simultaneously. You can change velocity curves of pads and keys and map faders to any CC you want. I mapped the first fader to modulation and it works like a charm. You can change pitch bend and modulation buttons range and speed as well. Though the keys are a bit tight and not as comfortable to play compared to other mini keyboards, the selling point there is really the size to functionality ratio.
First time seeing you, man! Good stuff! I’ve been using this mini MIDI keyboard for a couple of years now and I love the simplicity of it. Hell of a learning curve but once you get it, you get it. I don’t make beats but I do all kinds of music. This is a reference tool for me and I think most MIDI keyboards/controllers are but this works well for my Punk and Metal music. I like that you don’t have to have the drums just on the drum pads but rather, the whole keyboard is your canvas. I haven’t needed to use the knobs just yet but one day, I might mess around with them. For the low price, it’s all I need.
Holy cow.. As an electronics engineer, I can say you're not even close to crazy, but a genius indeed! (Okay, maybe you're a little crazy, but the good kind of crazy
The next keyboard you should review is either the Donner 25 Key Midi Keyboard, or the Worlde Panda Mini Midi Keyboard. Both in that 25 key range, and I rarely see anyone use them! I personally dont own them but when I was on the search for a keyboard these crossed my path. Btw, Great video! Edit: there's also the m audio oxygen 25 key! Edit 2: I am just now seeing that the people who made the Panda mini have also made the Orca Mini Midi keyboard. Seems relatively new, and based off design looks like it would compete with the launchkey mini. Most likely not in software though.
@@lithrawri wild, I know exactly who he is talking about. The same way I found the keyboard. Here's a video she made that was well received: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GkU7xGzGncs.html
@@PANTA-Music Thank you for your detailed answer. Very helpful! I really like the fact that it has so many buttons to control the DAW without having to use a mouse. I’ll check out how it integrates with Garageband/Logic. Thanks again!
i like this keyboard a lot. i buy it for 50€ on amazon to geplace my broken akai mini. its totaly fine.. i just need it to have some keys in front of me when i am making some music. For me there is no reason to get a expensive one. Alesis is also known for good quality in the industy.
I know this video is 5mo old, but the reason the pads are like that on the VMini is because all other MIDI controllers are laid out wrong. If you've ever used a hardware synth, vintage hardware, hardware drum machine, or even the preset kits in any DAW that is the proper default arrangement for GM midi kick, snare, hat closed, hat open. Have a look in an Ableton default drum rack. Otherwise, informative video. Thanks.
Also, AIR XPand 2 is a powerful synth. It's included with ProTools and has been used on a metric ton of Platinum albums. You've heard it on Rhianna, Kali Uchis, Kanye, Bad Bunny, Calvin Harris, MIA, Drake, Kid Cudi, Lil John, Weezy, Gambino, Post Malone...
can you try the worlde panda mini 25 keyboard next time ? its like the only cheap midi keyboard available where i live, making it the most popular for beginners around here. im sure itll get views esp from the southeast asian audience, as even if it is the most available one i rarely see reviews of it anywhere 😁 love ur content
Love your videos What do you think about using portable keyboards as my first midi keyboard? Cuz some keyboards from Casio in budget range look good, I need some of your insights on this?
Those bendy plastic style keyboards tend to only last 1-2 years before a key snaps off, while a proper sprung keyboard (even a cheap mini version) can last a lot longer. I think for keybeds, the Minilab Mk 2 is at the top, closely followed by the MPK Mk3. It's worth spending a bit more money for one of those.
9:52 Actually that pad setting is the standard mainly used, kick, snare, hit hat closed and open and is on General MIDI map, they put the mainly used exactly where they need to be. I have to say, for the small size is fine.
Can you pull the pots off easily? Thinking about cutting these down and putting low profile knobs on them so they don't get snapped off in my bag. I'd rather have 8 pads tbh.
I dont have tried any other midi Keyboards but the v25 but i can tell you that you gonna love it. My only issu is, that the drum pads also dont line up witz ur daw correctly but in fl for example, you can correct that in the program.

That horrible quality of keys with plastic joint also has the Akai mini which is a scam, the alesis v25 does have excellent keys but bad rotary controls that are not continuous and it does not have semitone transposition either if it is not by editor
i know nothing about theses things so here we go ... do you have to use a DAW i just bought a Zoom R8 becouse i cant figure out the DAW deals they are not userfrendly especialy if your not a NURD i am not but im as old as the ground you are standing on lol... im looking for some thing to make blues tracks nothing crzy no electronic crap.. what am i looking for i figure you would know thank you buddy
I think if you think “electronic crap” is for “NURDs” you should just stick to your 4pm dinner special and weekly open mics. idc how old you are, if you need guidance or advice, showing up respectfully and humbly will get you a lot further. Glad I learned this lesson young.
