Alex Anderson LIVE - What Inspired Yvonne Porcella? 

I had the honor of meeting and taking a class from Yvonne. It was an impromptu quilting class . She gave us three suggestions. I completed early, then she gave me an extra suggestion, using her silk collection. After finishing that flimsy, we began to talk. She told me of her cancer and how much longer they thought she had to live. What impressed me was her willingness to talk about it and in the midst of feeling poorly, she gave of herself to us. Then a couple of years later ther was an exhibition of her work at San Jose Museum, I went to that, of course, and seeing her work and remembering her, I was forever inspired. Such a lovely sweet spirit. Thank you for publishing this post, you and she are/were wonderful to dedicate your time and knowledge to all of us. 💐

I was lucky enough to have known Yvonne and taken classes from her. She has been, without a doubt, the biggest influence in my quilting...and I have been quilting since 1976!

Just got back from Empty Spools #5. It was fabulous!! Had Diane Kirkhart for a teacher, and she was the best! Loved iy

Yvonne was such a lovely lady and once up on a time I had the privilege to giving Yvonne her ‘Guide Class’ for her new Bernina at R Lily Stem Quilt Store in Modesto California!❤
