Love the thought process. I can see it working many different check points all in one swing, which is awesome. I feel that this would be a great tool and demo to show a player and then just let them feel and figure things out. I am a huge feel guy and don't want to over complicate things for players. Sometimes I think there is information overload for a lot of players now a day so true feel for each individual is very important. I love trying something different and invent new stuff with my players all the time. Sometimes it works other times we scratch it, that's what makes baseball so great. Thanks for the content.
Rockin' drill John, getting the right feel is built right into the drill. With so many drills, you can still execute without getting the right feel for the motion you're looking to get, but this approach doesn't really allow anyone to cheat the drill. This one goes into the toolbox for sure.
Hi - that that Lefty Swag bat got a rattle? I've gotten two of them and both are rattling and starting to crack at the top. My son actually took some swings with it last week and some rebar came flying out of it and it almost took my eye out!
It's like pulling a rope over your shoulder to quote golfer Sergio Garcia ok I have. Heard Jermaine Curtis use a catch and throw drill in times past a guy named Kenny Myers came up with a net same principal if you get all that into a power plane see John Schlee on Joe Morgan and Ben Hogans in power plane you are in a position to hit for me think of casting now I don't mean like a fly fishing I think back on a guy I saw casting line drives with his spinner over the ocean off Malibu he was catching barracudas ok couple that with the pivots of the hips also Mike Tyson's description from Jack Dempsey called the Dempsey roll you get effortless power as opposed to powerful effort
I like that drill. I'd like to buy that device. Keeps you connected. Feel the reverse torque. That would help me till more consistently. I often don't commit to a consistent spine angle. I'm trying to have my barrel stay behind the ball more. Thank you.
Breg holds the bat different than anyone I have ever seen. Elbows apart. Knuckles not aligned. Yet he compensates. And is quick to the ball. When he is in his grove it is hard to get him out. Very good video.
I'm really glad your recent videos have been directed a little more to the younger players. I'm dropping down from 12u to coach 8u this season with my youngest son and I've got some great training drills to start with in a couple weeks! Do you think the rope bat would benefit 8u players? I would love to try it.
My 5 year old is in tee ball now so it was the natural progression (and maybe a bit selfish too 😜) but I’m glad you are liking them. My son and I have used the rope bat and he did surprisingly well and it helped me identify a flaw I didn’t notice with his regular bat (plus he thought it was fun). So I definitely recommend it for younger players. You can grab one here if interested: ugoprobaseball.com/product/rope-bat-single/
I've used the rope bat and foam balls for years. Great tools. Always remember to end drills with a regular bat and swings. Also a great drill catch and smash. I've watched your videos for years now. I even made the two ball curve ball trainer with a double sided wood screw you posted years ago. Keep up the good work.
