The irony of pundits getting butt hurt when criticised back though LOL

The vast majority of the criticism has been justified due to poor performances. Are the players really that out of touch with reality or just want to be seen to be backing Southgate ?

I don’t get this. Foden wasn’t moaning. He was just saying he blocks out any outside criticism and noise. Surely as players that’s what you have to do. If you let the criticism affect you even if it’s justified it can affect your confidence and game. I don’t think Foden was whiney or being too precious at all. Now a couple of the other England players have been in what they’ve said in a couple of post match interviews but Foden wasn’t here.

The thin skin of the journalist I think it is. Foden even said at the start that you have to know what to listen to etc etc, I dont think he even said that the opinions are invalid or valid, its just that he doesnt pay much mind to it. You have to realise - its not just talk sport giving their opinions, its half the bleeding country - I think Alex Crook has an insane ego to think its all about him here.

If England players stopped whinging about fan's opinions on their piss poor performances and spent more time concentrating on improving their football...we'd have a better chance of a better performance!

They are representing their country, it's not the other way round. If the England squad are underperforming then quite rightly the public will be critical. There is a fair argument to suggest that personal attacks cross the line on what is fair critism but that can't be an excuse to refute valid criticism. There is danger and in my opinion, what has become the state of play - that Southgate and the players have become tone-deaf to the public media to the extent they've become stubborn and arrogant to their faults. Unbelievably, we get the easier run-in and Southgate mistakes this for success when in reality we will get undone by better opposition.

What a pathetic attack by Alex Crook. They wouldn't have made it to be playing for England if they were thin skinned. The truth is, talksport have been one of the worst propagators of bullying and criticism of the staff and players, constantly moaning, picking, criticising, and encouraging others to do the same. This doesn't support the team, it does the opposite. So thank you talksport and other media, and loads of fans, for creating an environment in which players feel that negative pressure. It is about time it stopped. Supportiing and backing the team, making them feel ten feet tall will get much better results than the opposite. No team has the right to win every game, to play beautiful football, and we all know England have done very little of that for a long time. We finally have a team which had sustained later involvement in tournaments, winning penalty shoot outs and more, and it's still not enough. It's not the criticism. It's the magnifying of anything and everything to generate more content and more clicks. The media knows fine well what gets people to watch their videos so they can get the advertising revenue, with the result being a completely OTT and toxic environment around the England team that means England have to fight and win inspite of their own people instead of with and because of them. All I want is for England to be judged when their tournament is over. I couldn't care less if we perform badly for a while. Every team goes through that. Remember Klopp and Liverpool having a nightmare run? It's just football. Fact is, we are still in the tournament, and our role as supporters is to SUPPORT.
