@@zsaz4453 They truly are. I live in Arlington and grew up going to school with Vinny and Dime...and the first time he showed me how he did those, I was like "you can do that?!?" Dime was truly gifted to play guitar. A gift only matched by how selfless he was with his friends and fans. Absolutely one of the nicest guys in all of metal. Rex was cool when he wasn't around Phil. Phil was a 100% d-bag off stage though.
No Way . Thats awsome and sad at the same Time. Dime was one another Level. I play Guitar for 20 years and still struggel with Pantera Songs. I wish i had the change to ask him some Questions. RiP both. So dumb an sad ...
At the risk of sounding stupid, I've always taken the "slow headbang" section of the song and the solo as the musical representation of the flood coming and wiping out everything. When it switches to the outro guitar part, it has a peaceful feeling to it, which brings about images of the first sunrise after the flood has ended, a new start.
Though this isn't Pantera's norm, I feel like this song is Pantera's unmentioned Magnum Opus. This song is pure magic, from beginning to end. One thing I absolutely love about songs like this is the song itself feels like it's a journey. It feels like another world, like it's somewhere your mind hasn't explored yet. I think that's the biggest compliment I could ever give something that's art.
I've heard that version with the skips so many times that the uncorrupted version is the one that sounds weird to me now. Because of some historical fluke it's the top search result for this song on RU-vid and it's not fair to music fans or music itself.
I saw dime the night before he was killed in Hartford ct. Remember turning on the news and seeing he was murdered. A lot don't understand how deep pantera was and how much the music helped some of us lost souls survive!! Cfh for life
My heart still bleeds when I hear Dimebag solo. The sleep is my favorite solo by far. Amazing amazing musician. Best band in metal, will never be seen again
My favorite Pantera tune. That solo is just crying, and the closing riff still gives me goosebumps after many listens. Just a beautiful way to end the song. I did hear two weird cuts in there. Must have been a hiccup in the upload or something.
I will say the outro lick is one of my favorite musical ideas ever. It’s just really really beautiful and contrasts very well with the harshness of the rest of the song
This is my favorite album! The anger and pain in this album is so real! This is when Pantera wasn't even together anymore because of Phil's heroin addiction due to his back pain! Phil recorded his parts in NOLA, and the rest of the band recorded in Dallas! "Cheap cocaine, a dry inhale The pills that kill and take the pain away"
I love this song! Please listen to Rooster by Alice in Chains. U definitely havent given them enough love. I feel like they could be one of your favorite bands. So please listen to this song. U will love it!
Floods is one of the most beautiful pieces pantera have released. To be honest, you're a bit too cheerful to appreciate it (at least in the video). The solo, imo, is Darrell's masterpiece and the whole "mood" this song creates can just break you completely if you open up to it. Truly a piece of art.
Best Pantera album. A lot of diversity between the songs. Heavy as all hell. Phil's vocals were all-around godly. And of course Dime was a always a monster, but the solos on Floods, 10s, TGSTK..and the breakdowns
NinKendo A few of the comments here are about the band and Dime but I do agree. A request email would be nice. The world we live in though(trolls) that email would be flooded by idiots. All we can do is enjoy what is posted and support the RU-vid channels we like.
The Great Southern Trendkill is my all time absolute favorite Pantera album. I feel they were at their highest peak as a band when they made this. Drag the Waters and Suicide Note Pt. I and II are insane and you should totally check them out sometime.
im super glad you justified your reasoning at the end of the clip for the snipet you put at the begening of the video, i was shocked until i got to the end lol nice video
I’m sure it’s been mentioned but if not the outro is also key to the meaning of this song. It’s basically thunder and then Dime’s guitar sounding like it’s underwater.
Metal- Brotherhood If you want him to react to your song, better give him some money coz otherwise you will be like everybody else.Asking the same song over and over, even if you ask a million times...Up the Irons!🤘
And one thing, with bands like Megadeth, Pantera, Nevermore and early Metallica, you should listen to whole Album because if not you can't get the full experience. If you wanna react to a Nu Metal band its enough listening to one song because the musicality isn't there anymore like it did before.
