Alex was straight up GOLD as a commentator. His insight into the sport, relating it to other types of climbing, and letting everyone know how crazy some of this stuff is. I hope he pursues this more! He's a joy to listen to.
Cant' agree more ! comparing with many experienced climbers commentator who is more criticising about the competitor. which on the other hand, Alex , considering one of the best climber in the world is so humbling commenting and cheering for all the climbers, he's optimistic and excited the all time. I really love his input to the game. I wish to hear more from him.
@@beouter Very good points. I was initially a little confused about him as a commentator choice, but I was really pleasantly surprised by how well he did. He obviously has some studying to do for the Olympics (like how he didn't know about the Olympic scoring format), but that's the easy part. Being an interesting and engaging commentator is much harder to learn and he's got that naturally.
This comp was INSANE. All the buzzer beaters on that lache boulder. Jakob's buzzer beater! The dude who kept jumping back to the jug! The huge save on that same boulder! Colin's high foot on the pink boulder! The tall japanese climbers drop knee bar thing!
For example outline the small scoreboard rectangle keeping track of an athlete's current zone/top. Bonus points if you colorcode the outlines to correspond to the four athlete's (also outlined) camerawindows in semis so you directly know who is climbing what and how they are and have been climbing.
Drinking tea while watching was really dangerous this time. I've never laughed this hard watching climbing competition. Alex is truly an awesome commentator.
I usually fast forward between attempts and competitors, but this time I watched every single second of it because Alex's commentary was just that good/funny
I can’t overstate how much I enjoyed listening to Alex Honnold in the comments booth. He was original, funny and so authentic ! I look forward to seeing him in the Olympics.
Alanah was right, this is the end of an era. No Shauna, no Akio and she was equally great and will be missed! I just hope she will be often invited to commentary box.
You would think the IFCS has more money for the athletes since they sold the tv rights...but nah! And only the finalist get paid! First place is cca 3k €
Hey, Where can I watch the full replays? There is nothing in the "live" section of your channel, and in the "Playlist" section, there is "IFSC World Cup Salt Lake City 2024" but it only has the short 15 min videos and the full speed replay. (RU-vid says there are 11 videos in the playlist but only 5 are visible) Is it normal that the full live events are not on the channel? (except for speed)
