In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

There was an episode of QI (Jam, Jelly and Juice) where the panel had to each read back a text while their reading was played back to them with a slight delay. Liza Tarbuck was impressively unaffected, which adds to my belief that she is an MI6 operative.

Rosie handled this interview far better than the other contestants. That's the advantage she has. Having multiple physical challenges to deal with has taught her how to adapt, and work with a situation, and not get easily discouraged when faced with an impossible task.

I don't know if Rosie is the person who makes this happen, but every time I see her in some British TV show there are never any captions for her. If intentional, I suppose the idea would be that you have to make an effort because she has so make an effort, or something like that. I But you can turn on captions for the whole video if you like, and even RU-vid's error-prone auto-transcription captures her *okay* (this video represents a unique situation), so you're covered if you need it.

For me, as a no native listener it’s quite hard to understand people with strong accents and/or speech impediments. I usually use English subtitles when available. Rosie is tough for me but she funny and I strongly appreciate British television giving people room for their art and/or work which are different. Here in Germany you’ll find a lot of political correctness but not so much people of colour or with disabilities on TV, especially on comedy programs. I’m looking forward to series 18 and I’m happy to watch it legally here.

I struggle as well (autism and struggle with processing audio) but don't get your hopes up, we've been begging for subtitles since it was announced Jones was on this series and they couldn't be bothered to add subtitles to make the show accessible for everyone unfortunately. 🙁 It's my favourite TV show, i always look forward to some lighthearted fun but it's no fun if you can't understand what is said. I feel quite sad about it all, i wish the show was accessible for everyone

I'd not really watched any shows with Rosie in until she was on Richard Osman's HOG recently and she was just so much fun to watch. So hyped for the new series after this interview. The whole point of Taskmaster is to showcase comedians being themselves. I like Rosie and they are lucky to have her so I know the show will do an amazing job of it, and not water her down for the commenters here saying disabled people should be quiet and go away. I can't wait ❤

No buddy. Most people who voice their dislike of her are utterly obsessed with the fact she's disabled. The auto translated subtitles here on this video are hard to follow and have many errors since they are auto translated. I sometimes have trouble processing slower speech and it takes more energy for me to focus on it. No one’s fault except my own but I sometimes have trouble processing audio. I bet for the actual episodes they will fix that! I’m excited to see her on the show!

You’ll be able to turn the subtitles on yourself if you need to, just like any tv show. But you’ll find that the more you hear her speak, the less you’ll need the subtitles.

Just subtitle it in general. All channel 4 shows on RU-vid should be. I subtitled season 8 back in the day for my sister because she's deaf, but then they started adding subtitles on channel 4. I suggest watch it there, get a vpn.

Well I look forward to at least 3 of the 5 comedians this series. 2 I'm on the fence about, but that seems to be the case every series. Each of the 5 interviews were taken in a different level of either annoyance at Alex or ignoring Alex attempts at being annoying. This one brought a chuckle. 😊

this is probably the slowest talking contestant they could find. i had to double the speed of the video just to not be annoyed. sounds almost normal at that x2 speed. x2.5 or x3 would be better though. i'm sure she'll do great though. other than the slow speech she seems as competent and fun as past contestants.

Love Rosie. I've never heard her standup, beyond little bits here and there and I'm not keen on gratuitous bad or crude language. But her participation on panel shows etc, always makes me laugh. If her delivery is slower than so-called normal, maybe we need to learn how to listen at more than one speed. She's smart, brave and persevering; and if I had a daughter with CP who wanted to act or do stand-up, or just do her own thing in life, I'd be grateful for an example like Rosie Jones.

Well I did watch it and Rosie ruined it. The best unintentional line was from the sponsor, Tesco Whoosh, whoosh it is all in the delivery. For comedy that is true and Rosie Jones sucks at it. Half the time I struggled to understand what she was saying and her timing was awful. Yet we all have to pretend that she has talent as a live performer, otherwise we are bigoted. I am glad you enjoyed it, I didn't.

I like rosie when she does 'serious' type programmes that have some humour, but I've seen her on other things when she is really loud and seems to scream. I really hope it's somewhere in-between, as I think she'll be a contestant that has a really different way of interpreting the tasks, which is always fun. That said, I'm most excited about Andy and Jack!

@@JonJobOnzo I shall personally be skipping every time she is on. I don’t find her funny at all. Thankfully there are others whom I do. And thankfully not everyone else joys everything the same. Genuinely think this may be the most differing sets of guests to date (not a complaint)
