USWNT co-captain and NWSL Orlando Pride star striker, Alex Morgan was welcomed home to LA and honored for winning the 2019 Women's World Cup ("WWC") by the LA Galaxy during the MLS California Clasico against the San Jose Earthquakes, which the Earthquakes won 3-1, held at Dignity Health Tennis Center on July 12th, 2019. Morgan was interviewed by ESPN Deportes and caught on fans Instagram ("IG") stories throughout the festivities.
Team USA won the WWC for the second consecutive time and fourth overall in franchise history by defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the July 7th, 2019 final held at Stade de Lyon in France. Morgan took home the silver boot for second top scorer of the tournament having been equal on points with Megan Rapinoe ("Pinoe") with six goals and three assists but having played more minutes (the tiebreaker).
