When you're eating green beans and Salisbury steak for supper and you have no cell phone reception that's reliable at your main residence I would not call that wealthy
Murdaugh sold the family home in Hampton SC after boating accident. Maggie moved to murdaugh Beach home n Alex moved to murdaugh commercial hunting fishing 1700 acres weekend home that has a full time caretaker n housekeeper in mozzele sc. Which has spotty cell service. Land worth $2 million Alex made 2-5 million a year.
Prosecuter: "Do you agree with x?" AM: "I don't disagree with that statement. I certainly don't take exception with that if you say it's true." Repeat ad nauseum
He should be studied for all if the manipulative tactics he tried to enlist on the stand. This is exactly how he perfected the art of bullshit to fool and deceive people. Talking out of both sides of his mouth.
@Mr. Popo they do not hold the influence they held at all. None of them work or are associated with the 14th District Solicitor's Office, the Murdaugh name has been removed from the firm, and his only remaining son was booted from law school. Now, it is true that there is still one Murdaugh who works at the firm, and Buster Murdaugh secured a remittance to law school after paying some $60k, but ultimately they don't have anywhere near the pull or respect they've enjoyed for a century. Especially amongst the other elite Lowcountry families.
Can u Imagine the crimes they were involved with, with the blacks in the south. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I think they were involved in a lot of unsavory things
I lied, I mislead people, I took their money that wasn't mine and I was wrong."💯×💯 times." I don't dispute it". I'm so pissed the way this fool wants to control the narrative. He doesn't want to say he "looked them in the eye". What a butthole! 🙄I am so glad that this louse was found guilty and received 2 life sentences. Ya!!!🎉
What a butthole I laughed on that one ,you are so right on with your comment I still can't wrap my head around how he thought his plan would actually work he's a nut job
Wow! He repeats the prosecutions every question before finally answering it. It’s a manipulative tactic again on his part to make sure he doesn’t say the wrong 😑 thing. So draining!
@@marshapieroni6677 if you were on trial, you might repeat the question out loud to make sure you’re answering it correctly anyone would unless they’re ignorant, after all talking serious charges here!! I’d be answering very carefully also be a guilty or not guilty you’re on trial
@@jodisinna4680 only people who are trying to make up a lie repeat the questions and answer in an evasive way, to a question that is clear and concise. He repeated questions that a child could understand and they were questions related to the subject they had been on for several minutes
This is a common tactic employed by covert narcissists. They challenge the most simple question in order to imply that the other party is not articulate or clear and then they engage in circular conversations. It's a form of manipulation and gaslighting I doubt it has anything to do with buying time or gaining clear understanding. Notice his manipulation attempt with the question about him telling the dispatcher and Owen's that he checked pulses before calling 911. The prosecution played the recordings and Alex said, see, that's what I said not what you said. Having been around a close loved one who did this, I can tell you it's exhausting, which is exactly what they intend.
His getting Alex to say he never thought of himself as prominent was excellent! Alex put blue lights on his vehicle, and used a sheriff badge! Lol. Alex never had permission for either per the actual Sheriff! But Alex says he never thought he was a big shot! Lol.
You never had an oxy addiction then. He’s a liar but it’s 100 percent possible to spend a 1000 a day on them. Roxys are 30 a piece and I at one point was able to do that many and if I had the money would of been doing them every day. That’s about 30k a month. It’s definitely possible
He says he’s been a addict for 20 years like that’s the reason for stealing he says his stealing goes back 11 years.. I guess he could afford his addiction the first 9 to 10 years.. he’s not been a addict taking all them pills, he’s healthy looking, he had weight on him, he has a head full of hair he had what looks to be his natural teeth and he’s worked and won lawsuits.. none of which a drug addict could keep up with
He was a total POS. On Netflix doc Paul’s ex-girlfriend said he told her shortly before he wrecked the boat that it was sad that her father didn’t make enough money to take care of his family. I’m glad AM “took care” of Paul so well. He was an alcoholic which is no different than being an opioid addict.
The absolute best thing prosecutor did was LET AM TALK...he might be a good lawyer, but dang..he's the worst defendant..lmbo..his lies are so blatant and obvious..
@@SusieCarter-oj5ufI thought Prosecutor was making a mistake to let him too, at first, but the jury was able to witness how this defendant operates. On a personal note he is capable of swindling vulnerable clients out of the $ they need to SURVIVE. Being a cold blooded killer isnt much if a stretch. And that sing song statement he makes when he doesnt want to answer. It makes me crazy!
@@insilence6156e was 100% aware of what they were doing. He's literally on trail for his life, him and his defense team were super aware of the prosecution strategy.
This Creature is repulsive. Not one shread of decency. This is what happens when you have an ego bigger than ANYONE around you. Poor Maggie didn't matter to him a jot NO ONE mattered to him. ROT IN HELL.
The grandfather AM refers to (who was killed in 1940) was struck by a train while in his vehicle. The train engineer told authorities it appeared Murdaugh waved at him before he drove into the path of the train. There wasn't an investigation into the death but he was rumored to have had a drinking problem.
I knew when he used the ridiculous nicknames names………that’s when I knew..he was lying like hell. How arrogant to try something like that? I am so grateful the prosecutor called it out.
Loved how Mr Waters just started with grooming Alex towards his own ego , talking his family history, then once he baited him, allowed him to talk and talk. That strategy sunk the narcissist that Alex was. Awesome trial lawyer.
Dick & Jim coached him in every possible way: what words to use, when to distract, how to illicit sympathy, how to pretend his false humility, on and on, all the way to what clothes he wears. I would like to know exactly how many hours they spent prepping and coaching. Despicable
1:42.23. This is where he bury’s himself. Saying how he cares for people and still does them bad. No conscience and I’m sure the jurors understand this.
And the eviction of the housekeeper's son from the trailer. I have never heard of a defendant rearranging the questions from the State while on the stand.
Makes me wonder: Is Alex possibly chewing tobacco during his testimony and while in court (and Buster also)? Since Alex had testified about getting a "spit cup"
That prosecutor should be given the title "God of patience" Murdaugh repeating 90% of Waters questions and looking baffled is infuriating. Jeez!!! I think Alec dug his own grave during that testimony. What a horrible low quality person.
Kind of like when the prosecutor asked him if he was family annihilator and instead of answering an empathic "NO, I DID NOT" (I would if I was innocent) he had to ask for clarification: Was he asking if he killed his wife & son?🙄 His eyes turned black as night as he stared down the prosecutor 👀as if he had some damn nerve to ask a question he knew was inevitably coming when he took the stand. That's what the whole trial was about!🙄⚖
@@Julie-7605the do not have a time limit this case was spos to only last 3-4 weeks it’s lasted 6 or lil over the prosecution and the defense has as much time as they need to prove there case they can ask All the questions they want they can get as many witnesses as they want that are irrelevant to the case or there strategy of defense or prosecution
I’m glad he’s bringing up the nick names. This is a murder trial and your trying to ease things over and playfully call the deceased nicknames to appear innocent.
we should be ashamed that prosecutors need to lean on bs like that to prosecute _murders_. What does that have to do with proving beyond a reasonable doubt he murdered anybody? They probably got it right this time but when you probably get it right dozens of times you also probably get it wrong a few times. and in those cases how many of the jurors were pushed over the edge to decide to convict because of weird inconsequential innuendos like this?
like there are so many reasons an innocent person would do the same things under the same circumstances. It’s a completely meaningless issue to point out. Nobody actually cares about the concept of a fair trial though. If they decide somebody was guilty then the prosecutor is actually a hero for something as manipulative as this.
@@noThankyou-g5c how many cases have you prosecuted? I think the truth is that a lot of people think they know what a fair trial is when they don't, or what serves as evidence when they don't, or how to prosecute a murder when they don't.
But remember, Alex said he was AFRAID of SLED! But yet, FLASHED the badge to be a part of, and manipulate LEO. Is why he lied about being at kennels, lol!
He wasn't sure he could manipulate SLED like he could the local LE, some of whom were in on the Good ol boy system ( the bad boy system) where they covered for each others indiscretions. He had Duffy Stone in his pocket and he was head of the Sheriff's department. There were many good LE, but if the head of it all is corrupt, then it makes people like AM think they are above the law.
I just realized how terrified AM is about DOCUMENTATION..when Waters brings up documentation, he gets a panicked look on his face and he really doesn't want the issue put ON THE RECORD..he wants to concede the issue and move on and Waters never lets it go..AM glares every time it happens..he immediately goes into yes I'm a thief and I lied, I was wrong..whoopsy..Mia culpa..can we me on?..Waters..NO..answer the question
That part when AM is trying to explain the badge hanging from his pocket was definitely in the top 20 for totally reasonable, innocent explanations. It makes law enforcement "warm" or "be nicer". Well can we all let a badge accidentally hang over our pockets or display on our windshields anytime we have to interact with law enforcement?
Yes to the nose running but no to the tears. There were no tears; he was just wiping at his eyes to appear like he was crying. And the way he was grabbing the tissues and waving his arms around was a ploy to get the jury to look at him and see what he was doing. Totally transparent.
@@jsapinsky correct. And anyone who needs a follow-up they can watch the juror who appeared on network television who said he was 3 ft away from him in the jury box and never saw a single tear. His face was dry
Its unbelievable how he plays stupid when he is asked a certain questions thinking I'm gonna confused the jury and out think out due this simple prosecuting attorney Mr.Waters
I love how he plays the role of a fragile, elderly, sensitive, compassionate, honest and credible man. He’s played this role his entire life. But just like Johnny Cash said, what’s done in the dark will be brought to the light. Now everyone knows that they never really knew this man at all. Also, notice the stares of death he gives the prosecutors throughout this entire cross? That’s the real Alex right there. He can turn a gaze into a threat with ease.
Also note on all other days of the trial, he has a tailored suit that fits and on the days he took the stand he used suits from prior to weight loss that hung on him and were ill fitted. I think he and his lawyers thought they'd pull it off. I think that was Poot's statement to the press..."AM thought he could pull it off." What he did is confirm to the jury that the man on the stand was willing to say or do anything, avoid all pertinent questions pertaining to the murders to avoid accountability.
The Almighty Yahweh said sooner than later What is done in the dark in the countryside or in the closet will eventually come to the light….as it has for Alex Murdaugh!
Didn’t that drive you crazy??? It’s a typical stalling technique to figure out an answer which he overuses!! Plus, what do you mean by that, or acts all confused, or I don’t agree with that and on and on. He was enjoying tormenting CW while trying to look demure and cooperative. Wow!
I wonder if any of his friends, children, in-laws, co-workers, workers, enablers, hanger ons or fellow criminals have ever asked him point blank if he did it.
My God, this is hours of the prosecution being forced to PULL TEETH. This guy must be purposefully and strategically playing dumb to put everyone to sleep, because anyone who's ever worked as a lawyer - as he has - should be able to understand the simplicity ot these questions. (...Or is that why he was disbarred?) The only person who would take every question thrown at him and take an overly exhausting amount of time dissecting them - and creating an overly careful answer for them - is a guilty one.
Pull teeth about what? Murdaugh openly and freely admitted REPEATEDLY to everything the prosecutor went on and on about. Very odd he is that in love with his own Matlock image while only lowkey admitting his case for murder was not that strong against AM
When Dick says that he hasn’t heard the murder in the last two hours I was hoping that Mr. Waters would say it just to be sarcastic. I would have enjoyed that!
The phrase " hemming & hawing " best describes Alex's way of talking without ever saying anything. It's also a southern phrase, I'm surprised it was never used in this trial.
"Do you dispute that?" masterfully foiling AM's attempt to control the narrative. Same with "is this the first time you've referred to him as Paw Paw in this case?"
I hate say this about another human being but this guy deserves the life's sentence and even that is not good enough for him his attitude and overall demeanor in this case being responsible for his son and wife's demise
re badge hanging out of pocket after the boat accident at the hospital: I don't have a specific memory of that but I don't think so, I don't have any memory of that. Dble talk, prck!
I think AleX tries to look like he is totally open. When he is only open to those things he has been proven on. That is only what he Cop’s to. Such a liar~ still I think this entire family is an evil bunch…. Including Buster.
How did he get away with stealing from his lawfirm, this clients, his partners, the bank for so long. This man should have been in jail for stealing millions!! This entitled man knew he wouldn't get caught or have to own up to all his sins!!! Maybe Maggs and Pau pau would still be alive he was in jail for thieving!!
Alex (short for Alexander, why does he pronounce it Alec) knew damn well as he was testifying that he made a huge mistake taking the stand. I love watching that realization gradually creep in. Gloria’s death was no accident.
Creighton Waters will be looking into that case again because her death is looking very suspicious, her fall was off of 4 stone steps outdoors ..,yet she really n came out of it..a month later she died…?
Yes and don't you love how his lawyers tried to state the 5th amendment right on the stand for him not answering some questions when he forfeited that when he DID NOT remain silent. Jim G. was a long time buddy and friend along with Poot. I'm guessing they all are corrupt TBH.
@@FathomlessJoy I'm at a loss of words for what we've become as human beings. Humanity and compassion mean absolutely nothing for some folks for as long as there's money between us. A very scary thought!
@@FathomlessJoy and? Are you suggesting he blew his sons brains out because he was hooked on Oxy? That’s NOT how opioids work. He specifically used this as his excuse so people like you would sympathize with him and blame the drugs and big pharma instead of him. I am a recovering pill addict, so is my elderly mom. Never did we once consider blowing each other’s brains out. This is evil (narcissism and greed), not drug related. This dude was NOT taking as many drugs as he said he was. No one knew about his habit except those who found his pills. You can’t hide a REAL opioid problem. The addict drools, slurs their speech, they sleep all day, they can’t function at work, hell- they can barely walk, etc. he had NO signs of an addiction let alone a habit that would easily kill the average person. It’s another lie.
The inability to answer a question direction signals a mental health challenge. People who experience inner conflict tend to deflect from the truth. They are in denial. Simple question are difficult to answer because the reality of one's circumstance checks the ego. I bet you his confidence are even higher now that he lost all that weight. Can't wait for the Lifetime movie...
Dr. John Matthias, forensic psychologist of Hidden True Crime channel talks about this and the inability of inmates to admit what they've done, unless/until they work more on themselves honestly.
Yes huge details that go on and on about everything and anything that is of no importance and no memory of anything that has anything to do with the crime.
Any time he starts talking about caring for his clients who he ripped off and thinking he's getting sympathy,I want to puke. Also he can just throw away any story about him doing well in his job and being a good lawyer or a part of big cases. His reputation is completely destroyed to the point where he might as well have never did one good thing because how would you know the good ones?
He is the law, but not like them, not only does he ever say he would like to pay a penny back to those he robbed, cause he learned one thing in his life, he can hurt people worse by robbing them and will never say it's right to give a penny to those lives, yet he says he cares, what do you think he thinks of those he killed without bullets, yeah paw paw and Maggie got off easy.
