In the past us village achool kids/ teenagers going off to Uni/Students down on their vacs picked the fruit. It's how we got extra money. We even hitch-hiked down to France and Italy to do grape picking. In those days were didnt have 2 thirds roly polies in our schools though. Ukraine on the otherhand is rich in agricultural products. There is no reason why Russia would want to administer Ukraine. The eastern countries (formerly Ukraine) it wants as autonomous states. As for Crimea until 1953, when it was put into the Soviet administrative block called Little Russia, it always belonged to Russia and is inhabited by Russians. Turkey having lost it in 1774. It only became Ukraine in 1991 after a Referendum. And its independence was conditional. Ukraine pre-this conflict has an attricious human rights record in these eastern "countries" - which were autonomous regions within Ukraine - a bit like our scotland, Wales, N Ireland. Ukraine for years has basically been ethnic cleansing. We can't keep making up a narratives or evidence to support our agenda. We know what Putin is - but we ought not lose sight of who we are.
