I am devastated by Alex’s passing! I My emotional response surprised even me! He represented a gentler and more compassionate era and his kindness will be sorely missed. Thank you Alex Trebek for your steadfast goodness blessings on you and your family💔
He so understood luck as a factor in his success so unlike other "celebrities" whose success goes straight to their heads he is truly and in actuality forever beloved.

How great for all of us that the special priest took you back, as "luck" would have it. The impact made on contemporary life is impossible to underestimate -- Mr. Trebeck feels like a friend to many, having been in our living rooms for over 30 years, a cultural icon who will remain in our heads and moreover in our hearts for years to come. RIP dear Alex Trebek. You will be missed and beyond.
I watched Trebek on Reach for the Top. (Detroit borders on Windsor, Ontario.) As a kid, I never missed an episode of Reach. The piece says it was a popular show. I mean, it was really popular, with an entire tournament structure. The Windsor tournament had 32 teams (31 weeks), and the winner of that went to the Ontario championship (8-10 more weeks). The winner of that went to the (almost) Canadian championship (another 8-10 weeks). I say "almost" because that was basically the English-speaking championship. Trebek hosted an all-Canadian championship where the English and French winners would meet, where both questions and answers could be in either language. (It's a little surreal watching a quiz show where the language flips back-and-forth at will.)
