@@decgar07 I really want that album, I only have favourite worst nightmare but there are really good songs like Secret Door, cornerstore and crying lightning
Artists often don’t listen to their own songs. 😂 There was a time that Taylor switf couldn’t guess her own song too, also many even forget it so they have screens on stage with the lyrics.
he was joking.. or at least be a much more grounded human being because at that time with the looks that he used to have, people easily assume he's just an arrogant man. But, fans know it better obviously.
The way they paint the winter vibe in Knee Socks is underrated. "You got the lights on in the afternoon And the nights are drawn out long And you're kissing to cut through the gloom With a cough drop colored tongue And you were sitting in the corner with the coats all piled high And I thought you might be mine In a small world on an exceptionally rainy Tuesday night In the right place and time" Mmf 🤌
My phone vibrates differently....when alex speaks......i think his voice is really different....😅i really don't know how to put into words properly...... but the thing is his voice is sooo intense...
"I tried to swim to the side But my feet got caught in the middle And I thought I'd seen the light But oh no I was just stuck on the puzzle" One of my favorite ones
@@isThisTakenToo--- nah it's *js as the apocalypse finally gets prioritized and u cry some of the hottest tears u have ever cried multiplied by five,I suppose a singer must die*
"When she needs to shelter from reality, she takes a dip in my daydreams." Easily my favourite AM lyric. Although, their discography is full of great lyrics.
My least favorite album of AM is Suck it and See, that doesn't make it bad, it's pretty damn good, Library Pictures, Black Treacle, The hellcat, Love is a Laserquest and Piledriver (originally from submarine EP) are just gold The only song I don't like is brick by brick, feels like soul less compared to every other song in the record
hell yeah so glad he said Arabella, I've always been in awe at the poetry of that song! The words twist and dance so cleverly to get rhyme emotion fantasy and romance across all at once, it's so captivating. Every time I listen to it I'm transported through time to the stat of mind I had as a teenager.
@@thethirdtomatolisten to crying lightning properly, not the amazing riffs or drum roll beats, but the actual words being said. It tells a pretty horrific story through metaphors, witty remarks, and jokes throughout the song. Crying Lightning is their best sing to date, imo, and it certainly wins the lyric award. AM are an amazing band with so many top tier songs, but Crying Lightning is just their best, I can't explain it, but every time I've seen them live, Crying Lightning just holds this weight on it, and it makes it its own event within the show. It has its own fucking gravity pull its such a layered song.
@@thethirdtomato and your entitled to that opinion, most of their songs are very well equipped with lyrics, Balaclava is probably one of their best lyrical songs from FWN, and R U Mine? is for AM. But Crying Lightning has this swaying nature of lyrics, I just highly advise you go back and listen to it, bcs it genuinely is just a work of art when you look and listen to the lyrics on full focus. They're always heading in a direction, which is different to songs like Suck It And See which stops for its chorus. Crying Lightning is such a complete package of a song that its chorus remains a repetitive factor but never feels draggy, bcs its chorus is literally the core of the song, its what the songs about, and best of all, the song ends half way through the chorus to show that the story never ended, that horrible relationship is still going on and that never ended, as much as you (the listener) know it should. Its just a very complete piece of art, the ultracheese and the only ones who know do it well as well, but the only reason I believe Crying Lightning is better is bcs they molded to suit their lyrics, Crying Lightning was made and got the lyrics matched to it perfectly, its a difficcult riff to find a good rythym to sing to, but they managed to do it. Similer to how Do I Wanna Know? is a difficult riff to sing to, but they managed it.
I love the second verse of crying lightning. Its like its own short story from like the 1800’s. Also ”smelled your sent on the seatbelt and kept my shortcuts to myself” from cornerstone is another great lyric. Hell most of his lyrics are pure poetry in my opinion.
“Do you still feel younger than you thought you would by now? Or darling, have you started feeling old yet? Don't worry, I'm sure that you're still breaking hearts With the efficiency that only youth can harness… And do you look into the mirror to remind yourself you're there? Or have somebody's goodnight kisses got that covered? When I'm not being honest, I pretend that you were just some lover.” - love is a laser quest
He is sooooo damn handsome! I love his swag. The way he does his hair and I love his confidence. A beautiful musician! One hell of an exceptional talent!
Last Shadow Puppets, but “As your shrinking figure blows a kiss, I catch and smash it on my lips.” The man’s really got a way with words. Arabella is incredible lyrically tho. “The horizon tries but it’s just not as kind on the eyes.” F me right up Al.
Arabella has some of the most fun twisty turny lyrics from AM Personally my pick from the old styles (first 5 albums, so not counting latest two) would probably be a song from Humbug. “Dance Little liars” is a drop dead beautifully written song, the lyrics perfectly complementing the songs sort of dark and sinister tone. Its also one of like two songs that always come to my mind when thinking of this album. The other songs being “Pretty visitors” and maaan, that song just fucking slaps all around. It’s maybe even my all time arctic fav. The lyrics have that staple arctic twisty turny-ness in heaps. It’s just so fun to both listen to and sing. I could go on for days about that album, love it to bits. But other to also include to the good lyrics list from that album being: Crying lightning, Secret door, Cornerstone, Jewellers hands (which is just a gorgeous song). Suck it and see also has some great songs! It’s mostly far less sinister and darker than Humbug was thematically, but it kept that fun playful element. As the arctic album with imo the most well performed and most consistent vocals (again, not including the newer albums or TLSP) , the lyrics are of course also wonderful and fun. Examples being: The hellcat spangled shalalala, Piledriver Waltz, Suck it and see, That’s where you’re wrong.
"I elongated my lift home Yeah, I let him go the long way round I smelt your scent on the seatbelt And kept my shortcuts to myself" That sh*t hits hard!!
