that's impressive!!! i'm multi-lingual myself Eng, Tagalog, Kor, Jap, and Spanish, and it's true, JUST BECAUSE you have an accent doesn't mean you lack fluency in the language. and it's true, he IS going from one language to another in seconds. I know for me when I'm put on the spot to speak different languages I feel like a chameleon and can get pretty flustered. and to be honest, i mix up languages all the time. these days I can't speak japanese w/ out accidentally using Korean words or such
OMG this guy is just so amazing >< I'm a Cantonese but I don't know how to speak it n hv no interest in learning until I know he (and Henry) speak it. now I really want to learn Cantonese..
His father is half Portuguese and Chinese ( So he speaks Portuguese and Cantonese& Madarin). His mother is Korean (she speaks Korean), and he came to the U.S to study (Where he learned English). In the U.S there are many Spanish speakers, and Spanish is every close to Portuguese. And he decided to learn Japanese. Also he is from Macau, and Macau was a Portuguese colony.
Aww, I love his Spanish!! I love that he has his accent in each language that he speaks :-)) Wow, it's amazing that he can speak seven languages, it makes him all the more hotter!
@SunSunApple he first said "Amo-te", it's portuguese (*.*), and then "Te amo" it's in spanish, but I think the person who wrote the subs wrote it wrong :)

@SmileTouch Even if who only knows the basics, his pronunciation and over all gist for different languages is impressive. I would say he has a gift for learning them.
i agree with some of the posts. the hosts had to remind him how to say "i love you" in japanese. and "i love you" is typically the third phrase people learn when they study a foreign language.
His Portuguese has a really thick Portugal accent. Like almost unintelligible thick. Makes sense, since Macau (his dad's from there) was a Portuguese colony for much less time than Brazil, and they haven't developed a very different accent. Obrigada Xander, eu também te amo! Beijos do Brasiiil!
alexander is half filipino actually, his dad is a businessman in hongkong and mom is korean, they were my churchmate in macau...so cool,his parents are great

@hydemegumi4ever His father is Portuguese-Chinese and his mother is Korean. He was born in Hong Kong, raised in Macau and studied abroad in the States.
oh i wanna do this too! okay I speak pretty much only english but I know basic spanish(only other language i had proper lessons for), japanese, and korean, plus a bunch of randome stuff i picked up in a bunch of different languages (I know not as impressive as others here, but I try)
I speak Finnish (as my native), English and Swedish and I also know basic German (studied it for 4 years but I was never really good at it) and basic Latin. I'll start studying French and Spanish this month :) I'd like to study Korean and Japanese and maybe Mandarin too...

I'm learning Korean too and it's hard!!! I know some Japanese but, I think Korean is harder because of the levels of formality and politeness. Japanese just has like suffixes that make a word polite. Korean has one for a question, one for a statement, one used in extremely formal situations and also polite yet commonly used.......it gives me a headache!! lol
@AyanamiRei5kyu He's father is taiwanese and mother's korean.He spent his young years in Macau, before moving to the States for study abroad.Macau used to be a portuguese colony,Thus, Macau possesses a very diverse population and has two official languages - Cantonese and Portuguese, not to mention various local dialects.Alexander was exposed to many different languages in his habitus. He later went on to study Spanish. He also took private lessons in French and Japanese with his sister.
An easier language would have probably been French, though that's my opinion. I'm learning French and Korean at the moment and aside from Hangul, I think Korean is actually easier. (Honestly, I think it depends mostly on the individual and their ability to grasp the concept of a language more so than the root language but that's the reason I gave before is a little more logical. I think it also depends on your determination to learn the language.) Also, yes, you speak English very well ^^
I think he knows a little bit of Tagalog b/c in his drama in the Philippines (my Korean jagiya ) he didn’t speak much and also the live after the show finishes he only spoke English most of the time
yee, he has got a pretty awsome portuguese accent, and it's even from Portugal! The thing I didn't understand is why he said the first one correct: Amo-te, and them when he intruduced himself again in portuguese: olá como estás, eu sou Alexander, amo-ti. Didn't understand! Either way he's my favourite.

Neither. His dad is from Macau, which means his Portuguese is a different dialect than Brazilian and Portugal, but Macau Portuguese is mostly alike Portugal.

For those saying he can't speak in 7 languages JUST because he has a terrible accent, does not mean he can't speak it and is not fluent. I had an English teacher that had a really bad Chinese accent but she graduated from UofT and even she stuttered when she used some words. Plus, he's going from one language to the next in less than seconds, I'm sure you wouldn't be able to try to switch from one language to a totally different language the next. It's not like he was trained to be a translator.
I speak English fluently but know French and Japanese (studied for a few years), as well as some Korean, Spanish, Dutch, German, Ukrainian, Russian, nisga'a, and tsmsyen. Plan on adding Arabic, Urdu, mandarin, Cantonese, and Thai to that list soon enough ~
XANDER!!!!!!!!! I just got into U-KISS, but he left before I knew about them. He speaks Portugal Portuguese, though...so sad...wish it was Brazilian Portuguese. I would've freaked out so badly
well, it's not like 7 languages , he couldn't even say como estas properly , and he doesn't know much , to say that someone can speak that language at leasthe should has an intermediate level in that language not a beginer , anyway ....
Alexander should be back with UKISS also Ki Bum~ Nobody can replace Alexander's skills in talking 7 different languages, that's why they are called INTERNATIONAL Super stars, because they can speak 7 languages, and UKISS is well-known with that title because of Alexander~ ♥ Ki Bum also! Actually English, Spanish and Chinese are the some of the hardest languages. English is hard because even though words are spelt the same, they're pronounced differently. If you're first language is English it's relatively easy, but if you're learning it, it's really hard. Spanish I think is harder than English. They were surprised because it's random and hard, whereas English is more to be expected, particularly for businessmen and idols because it's often used in their line of work
