Back in the day I saw this fabulous singer live at Frankfurt Music Hall first row and when they played the first chord of Sunshine I yelled out 'Sunshine' at Alex and he pointed his finger at me saying, you got it boy. He made a blue-eyed blonde German teenager from Bad Nauheim feel like a member of the band that nite. I'll never forget.
Most will never understand the sheer power of this funky funky jam. This is the original Time lineup, before Prince fired Alex. This is why this song is so cold. Prince later fired Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis because they didn't disclose their FlyteTime production efforts. But Janet Jackson and many other artists benefited from their departure. Jam and Lewis made Janet. Period. These brothers should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

I’m 31 (1989)and just found this song from when I was a little kid...and it was old then 1984...glad I found it though and my mother laughed when I played it
As a soulful 17 year old this track in 84 was the weak link in the album - too heavy and loud for my liking - and then it was all about the timeless gem 'Whats Missing'. Now some 36 years later ! this track is one of my favs from the album no doubt. Amazing how personal experiences through time influence feeling and attitudes you had previously.

A little know secret Jesse Johnson is singing and playing guitar on this. You can definitely hear him singing at 5:04 and he takes a guitar solo after Jellybean. He's also playing rhythm guitar part on Alex 9000. I think A&M denied permission because his first solo album wasn't released yet

@@totalmrmeanor7586 Innocent is copy of Get It up. Its even in the same key and uses the same chords but in a different sequence. I think they did that on purpose to get back at Prince for firing them. Its ironic this song is the original lineup of the Time except Morris
Yeah boy!!! Always loved the Minni synth sounds(like James brown horns accenting the songs!!) & guitars!! Very expressive soulful music! Jellybean on guitar was a surprise... When Jessie was the usual go to.... Btw my names also frank(wished I played guitar with Jessie ... Get it!?)
