He's not only handsome but also very talented. He has the perfect combination between strenght and gentleness in his skating, and the right balance between respect and passion for his art. This is the best exemple to show that he is at the top of his capacities, phisically and mentally.
I can't help it, I've watched this video a hundred times and yet, it still makes me shiver. Not from fear, but from excitement. He is able to make you feel all his emotions, you can feel his serenity, the wind in your face as he gathers speed, the coldness of the ice, his heart pumping... Very few skaters have achieved that, being able to communicate with the audience so strongly. I find it a lot more enjoyable than to look at Joubert or Plushenko doing a quadruple-triple.
beautiful...all of his shows are one of a kind...i for one, always am surprised of how original and breathtaking are his representations....he's la creme de la creme du patinage;)
I have no words! When this man skates as if God himself skates! Generations will pass before someone like him appears again. Pluschenko & Co are classes behind!
It's a shame that in competition we didn't and don't see choreo building around footwork like this. The flow in this one is special. Yagudin has such a special understanding about those things. And that he also uses his 'feminine' side even though he is kind of a super masculine skater with Gladiator themes etc.. It's just great, and it's kind of his recipe for hotness I guess :) He's the kind of guy that when he turns that switch on ... nobody's staying cold 😸
Dla mnie Yagudin jest mistrzem nie do pobicia ma niesamowity dar uwielbiam go i strasznie zaluje ze juz nie jezdzi jest to duza strata drugiego takiego mistrza nie bedzie
Damn I loves me some Alexei. I do not bother to watch skating any more. It just isn't the same without him. He got me watching it again after a long time of not bothering . He is a beautifully passionate skater , a true athlete , and an artist!! LOVE THIS GUY!!! Johhny W is ok but he is not AY!!!
Oh My God !! I am a deep fan of Peter Gabriel and of this music, and I love also iceskating and A. Yagudin - you cannot imagine how lucky I feel to have watched this !!
Watching this program again, it was a pretty neat performance and very ambitious. But now I also think....MAN, THIS GUY WAS NUTS!! Doing such a dangerous stunt over the ice. He could have fallen and cracked his head opened. I'm really surprised they let him do it like that.
Whoa, until the camera zoomed in I had no idea that that was really Yagudin doing all that at the beginning! I thought it was an acrobat from Cirque de Soleil. Fabulous! How scary, though, doing all that stuff, flipping over like that over ice! What if he had fallen? Yikes! What a talented performer.
I had totally forgotten about this performance, it is so hot. the introduction gave me such a scare, I let out a sigh of relief when his blades were back on the ice lol
That is so atmoshperic so passioate so risky my heart was ready to burst when he is on the air doing those acrobatics and thinking what if ... let's forget that he is so brilliant here completely different from what he has done so far unique!!!Do u know what year it is? Which show?
Hi Kathryn, The original version of this song (Peter Gabriel) doesn't have the voices added. The voice part (when Alexei is in the white sheet) is, I think, an added track, put on to make the performance the length it needs to be. The "real" music comes in when he starts to skate. I'd love you to see Kurt Browning's version of this...it is brilliant! Alexei is wonderful too, but he lacks the 'Middle Eastern' feel Kurt has, especially with the arm movements.
Yes, my first thought was also of Cirque, in particular Quidam because I had just seen it live in Pittsburgh. At first I thought he did too much of that, and too little skating LOL.
Wow, this is one ambitious number! However, I think Oksana Baiul's is still the best, because in order to dance to this song one would have to be as slinky as she is. Otherwise for the men, it's mostly fancy footwork. I bet he wears that kind of shirt just to show off his arms and shoulders. Cad. j/k
Well, he wanted to, but now, he had a recent surgery that removed his appendix. He put off hi comeback. I don't know if he is still intending to return or not.
I did see that after I saw this, it was pretty strange. Arabian poses and costume to this? I'm a film score purist. If someone uses a piece of film score, whether it be for skating, dancing, gymnastics, videos, etc, then it MUST have something to do with the film the music comes from. Without the film, the music would be nonexistent.
Well, I don't know the character he's trying to portray but I assume it's Jesus or something to do with that, considering the music is Peter Gabriel's The Last Temptation of Christ.
I honestly don't think he was trying to portray Christ in any way, that wasn't nearly as theatrical as he usually is in terms of being true to the source material. Never knew Oksana skated to that, but am not surprised, The Last Temptation of Christ is a pretty common piece.
I'm sorry but he doesn't look quite comfortable during first (circus) part. And in the skating part he lacks passion. Facial expression, arms, body - not enough. Alexey is a very good skater, but he hasn't that feeling, that devotion to this choreo. I've seen Evan Lysacek's SP to this music (choreographed by Kurt Browning). Although Evan IMO isn't that good as skater as Alexey is, I liked his attitude more.
