Did a similar thing on the barrier reef. Took a breath and went to go have a look at a big ole wooden wheel if I recall. It was deep but by chance I equalised pressure at every stage perfectly and didn't really feel deep I stopped about 20ft from the wheel and looked up at what were very small people on the surface. Fuck says I and I start my assent. I ran out of air about 2/3 of the way up but just stayed calm and did slow upward aiming movements and breached the surface. Has to be said it was a bit of a close call that one.

@@deano2160 same I was in the Bahamas. I was snorkeling and had on big fins and thought I shouldn’t have any problems. I made it down then realized holy shit I better stay calm and focus and just swim fast and i surfaced and thought I was so crazy but I still have that shell! Lol

When you go deeper your lungs gets "smaller" because of the pressure, which makes you sink easier

Lot of things are happening here. For someone who has never watched anything about freediving prior to this, it is hard to understand. I am full of questions! - Before diving he is "packing". What does that mean? - How come at one point, he is in "freefall"? Why is he not floating? - When he is coming back, in the last 20 meters, i had the feeling he was about to pass out and was catching himself just at the last second to pull. What is that technique and what are the benefits?
@tappajaav
@tappajaav 9 месяцев назад
I'm not a freediver, or even diver, but I'll try to explain to my best knowledge(should I be mistaken, please anyone correct me) -Before the dive he uses special breathing technique to cram as much air in his lungs as possible -Deeper you go, more the pressure compresses the air in your lungs, causing you to lose buoyancy. -I don't think there's any special [named] technique in the end. He's just trying to work with minuscule amount of air, preserving what's left and trying to reach the surface to best of his ability
