He was pretty amazing before he left us also. I saw Bodom for the last time in 2019. Alexi looked tired, but his ability was still there. RIP Wildchild 🤘
@@TheOccultationProject Yup... This was a studio-session. Live, it's a different story unless you are Shawn Lane, who seemed to play even better and more precise live somehow. A show like they did, with singing and running around is obviously going to be sacrificing precicion, especially the way Alexi did it, who obviously loved the rock-star vibe of showboating and drinking etc.. His latest album with BAM showed no decline in songwriting, creativity or playing really.. Which is pretty astounding to consider with the issues he had going on.
@@TheOccultationProject I def agree, I saw them live 2x in 2017 and 2018 and both times he didn't growl the same an neither were his solos the same, felt like they really had list something. But then again he really has never really been a live guy he is best in the studio.
This is one of the oldest videos I remember watching of Bodom back in the mid 2000's, right around when RU-vid was first getting started. RIP Alexi. Your music has given you eternal life. Gone but not forgotten.
actually he did use delay/reverb with the Rocktron intelifex. I have a video in my channel that shows him and Roope doing a promotion for jackson guitars and you can hear it there. But i do agree with you that the Jackson days were when he played the cleanest.
He also broke his Shoulder which never fully healed so he had to change his technique completely and re-learn how to play guitar essentialy, But he's back Listen to Hexed!
Someone stole Alexi's Randy Rhoads guitars from the bands rehearsal place in Finland. They are still out there somewhere under someone's bed or in a closet. Recently Janne was doing an interview talking about recording the early records and said that Alexi's Jacksons were never in great shape. He said they would not stay in tune well and would not intonate. He said he had to pitch shift his keyboards on the recordings to match Alexi's guitars doing all the dual harmony stuff because Alexi's guitars could never be intonated properly no matter how much they tried, or who worked on them trying to correct it. Janne said he was happy when they were stolen because it forced Alexi to get new guitars. He never had any issues with the ESP models. Janne said he knew Jackson made great guitars but for whatever reason the particulsr Jacksons that Alexi had were nothing but a headache. It kind of broke my heart hearing that, because I grew up idolizing Alexi and his custom shop Rhoads'. I always played Jacksons early on specifically because of Alexi. Hearing that those guitars weren't the perfect instruments I had always imagined kind of hurt lol
For the Jackson guys out there; he would’ve sounded amazing with any gear. But still, I personally play with Jackson’s because of these early things he did. That probably didn’t make any sense, but as Allu would’ve said: f*ck it!
you know the thing i like about this guys playing is his..speed runs..sound soo SICK...sounds a machine gun at 0:11 onwards its INSANE and the solo at 0:35 sounds awsome.!
the part where him and janne were playing was 1999. this was late 99 or early 2000, i can tell because hellion was released with follow the reaper and that was 2000
That's right, then he asked Jackson to make another one but -for some reasons- they say they would take up to years-time so then he joined ESP and they gave him a new guitar.
