People are looking at the Trump years with rose colored glasses because in 2018 I started feeling the impact of the tariffs. I purchased a washer and dryer set that was manufactured overseas and the price was 3x higher than what it was 18 months earlier. The cost per square foot to build my house originally was $129 per square foot when I started in 2018 by 2019 & 2020 it was $289. The cost just kept increasing because of the price gouging and no regulation to stop them thanks to Trump rolling back HUD regulations. Then all of a sudden my utility bills started getting crazy service fees as well as other bills because Trump deregulated everything. Even bank fees started coming back after he dismantled the CFPB. When I tried to report car dealerships, suppliers, & utility companies for the many unexplainable price hikes to the CFPB they notified me that the agency was no longer operating. When Trump said he was going to dismantle it, he did. Even the Department of Energy and other regulatory agencies didn’t have department heads to enforce the regulations causing price hikes & environment issues. Many people overlook that. Just to be honest if he didn’t mismanage the pandemic it probably wouldn’t be so bad now.
