@@bhvrdr Amazing, this makes the decision between Alfa and an M340i or S5 very straightforward I think. In your opinion, does the handling of the Giulia more than make up for the performance gap between it and the 6 cylinder Germans? I would just stick with JB4 and no hardware upgrades, or, just keep it stock. Very helpful videos and great channel!
@@AP-cc1uw thats tuff because I've owned them all and I like them all. I can tell you that the giulia is unquestionably the most fun-to-drive as far as handling. If you haven't owned one yet I'd highly recommend it at least once.
@@bhvrdr it’s all the same 4cyl engine tho right?? In Australia we get the super and the veloce, both 4cyl but veloce comes with dual exhaust bumper and a bit more power at the engine... so just assuming it’s on a harder tune otherwise it’s the same engine right?
@@xIxAmxKh2xI if you live in the USA 🇺🇸 , you’re going to get the same power train and the exact same engine . And there is no power package that costs $2000 , what are you on about ? And if you’re referring to the quad, it’s a $20,000 upgrade not $2000
bhvrdr for the tune did you buy the jb4 wireless smart phone kit or the bms cable and does the tune give you options to change the burble or a e85 map?
Dude!!! This is awesome fast especially with no other mods. I purchased a 2017 Giulia Q2 TI. Waiting for it to be shipped from out of state. I also see your great comments in the Giulia Forum. I'm looking forward to installing the JB4 as well. Thank you for sharing your content.
Been looking at getting a giulia. Why doesn't E30 help at all for higher maps as I've seen you say it doesn't really help. Im just curious if the reason is known. Also awd will help that 60 time but what about the quarter mile. Does it end up being even do to higher weight?
The timing request from factory has to be high enough to take advantage of higher fuel octane. In cars like Audi and BMW they request more timing than they can use and just retard it for 93 octane or 91 octane. Then you add jb4 and the computer thinks its making less boost than it really is so it adds even a tad but more timing. So the more aggressive the jb4 map (the less boost the ecu thinks its making) the more timing the ecu tries to make. However in the case of the giulia the timing request is so low you get no more. You can actually record this by just looking at timing retard per cylinder on the giulia. There is zero. No timing retard means no opportunity for increased timing. Awd can get you a faster e.t. in the 1/4. The trap speed may be 1mph or less lower in awd due to the very small weight difference.
@@bhvrdr hey man thanks alot for this info. I got 2 more questions. Any need to upgrade sparkplugs? I know in some brands it is highly recommended. And then also the newest guilla models ti vs veloce, are they the same engine internals? Performance wise do they perform equally in staright line and corners?
@@bhvrdr ah i see hey look at this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vDw1FSmQ4Js.html can u do this with JB4 im planning on buying a tune just dont know which one yet
@@ramymesiha fantastic honestly. Get the highest option. Installation was dirt easy. It performs well, but some tuners are pushing way more power for a higher cost
@@project_amg good to hear - I am about to pull the trigger and purchase RaceChip. I have 2017 Q4 TI. Did you do any 0-60 or 1/4 mile before and after testing?
I gotta ask, why did you choose the jb4 over the EC flash tune? I was running the race chip and just purchased the EC....but it was a back and forth with jb4 and EC...couldnt decide....finally chose the EC cause of the other options like on/off, pops n bangs, and neutral rev limit etc.
I chose because its the same or more power with no chance of powertrain warranty being flagged (as soon as you flash the ecu your powertrain warranty is in jeopardy) and it has the ability for me to customize maps meaning i even made maps for a hybrid turbo using this. Also i get full gauges and datalogging capability with it. Im not into pops and bangs though. If that was an important feature ec is the choice
@@bhvrdr ya totally makes sense thats why i did the racechip piggy back at first and now i have no warranty so figured id flash. Im going to compare dyno charts from the racechip vs the ec and see how it goes.
@@Wunna42 does nothing on the stock turbo. Fastest giulias out there are on stock exhaust and intake. Downpiped and intake cars with bs "stage 2" tunes are actually running slower traps, 40-100, and 60-130
@@bhvrdr that makes no sense at all lol you’re telling me something that increases airflow into and out of the turbo more than stock isn’t gonna add more horsepower than stock? you’re trippin. It’s all about the tune and I wouldn’t even consider air intake and downpipe stage 2.
@@Wunna42 it only increases airflow if its a restriction there. Here the restriction is the turbo not intake or exhaust. Its not my opinion. Its data. Look at fastest cars 40-100 and 60-130 and highest trap speeds. No exhaust mods. Look at the car with downpipe, intake, exhaust. @@bhvrdr yeah you are right. I will try doing more runs. Definitely my first time doing these runs. But i have tried following what you do, with brake boost and all. Will try again on a better road to see if that helps me in anyway. Will update soon with all 3 stock, map 1 and map 2 results
@@Juiccy_777 absolutely. 0-60 is all about traction. As an example, i have highest trap speed and fastest 40-100mph of any stock turbo giulia but no way i will get fastest to 60 with rwd due to launch. Even quadrifoglio can only go so fast to 60 with rwd compared to awd cars with much less power
@@Juiccy_777 no. Jb4 actually hooks up to obd2 port and communicates with the cars CAN-BUS so you get smooth power, you can have gauges on your phone, and datalog. You can also adjust maps to get more power low or high in rev band. I just bought TMC for my stelvio and dealing with limp mode because their map is not right.
It looks like this run was map 1 you are correct. The old map to is now map 3 and the difference between map 1 and map to is 1 psi or less of boost. You can run either one and I find that the higher boost maps are good in hotter weather and the lower boost maps are good in cooler weather. You'd think it is the opposite but this is the case because the turbo will try and make more boost in hotter weather so the additive boost in hotter weather will not trigger underboost
