Your video is RIGHT ON and VERY HELPFUL. Just replaced mine and I appreciate you sharing this with the rest of us. My filter was replaced at 31000 and 5 years and definitely was dirty. There is more airflow now and smells good. One thing to remember is that, although it is a pain to replace it his filter, it plays a very important part of the AC system and also cooling of electronics.
I can't thank you enough for this video. I bought my second Giulia about a year and half ago with 16k on the odo.. I kept getting this squealing noise at mid level fan speeds. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the blower motor under warranty. Got the car back....noise still there. I've been pulling my hair out in frustration. It dawned on me finally just to check the cabin filter door and it was not on there correctly and very loose. I just replaced the filter while I had everything apart and put the filter door on correctly. Your video made it much easier....Thank you!!
I bet this is the way the dealer techs do it rather than all contorted trying to reach in there. Once you have done it this way a few times it is pretty quick and painless. Thanks for the video.
You just made the greatest Alfa video ever... I’ve been dreading doing this on my Giulia with the lack of videos available online. They sure didn’t take into consideration the ease of changing the damn filter when designing the interior.
@@autofanaticcars reporting back after finally getting around to this… it was definitely a PITA but the work is done with a sore back and some graphic language.
Thank you! This video helped so much. Only issue I had was that the cover for the filter would not go back in. It just won't click in. I fiddled with it for 2 hours and had to get underneath to see what I'm clipping into. In the end, I used a removable sealer to hold it in place and when I need to change it again, it peels off easily. Plus helps keep the air from getting out. The rest was put back together flawlessly
Replaced mine today, 2021 Giulia Quadrifoglio with 8,830 miles. It was nasty had fungus growing. It smelled when ac turned on in a hot or humid day. Thanks for the video!
That’s issue with these cars water gets into the assembly from defective cowl design keep an eye on your car because the water destroyed my QV i had to sell it recently as it ruined electric system causing car to shut off on highway and driving in the rain
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. It took some time to get this completed but with your guidance I was able to complete it. Very much appreciated.
Done! Thanks, in large part to your video. One difference for my 2019 Guilia Q4 was that I could not remove the glovebox. Got all the screws out, tried pulling it free but heard an ominous cracking sound and decided caution was the best route. Ended up replacing the filter without removing the box but it was a challenge to get the new filter in. Took a bit more than an hour in total. Thanks again.
yes the removal of the glove box does make a noise but its ok and glad you got it done without it. How were you able to get up and in there with the glove box in place?
Thanx. Nicely done, exhibiting patience. I have 2 Audis, each using the same filters, slide easily out and replaced. 3 minutes. No tools needed. German efficiency.
I have an ARG too, plus I've already replaced this cabin filter in my girlfriend's car, she has another car brand but it's in the same area with the same procedures...removing the glove compartment. After viewing your video I guess mine will stay there for many years before I replace it. What a pain in the butt to replace! They should make a removable side panel on the inside of the glove compartment, pull the side panel out remove the filter retainer, replace, panel back...finished! No tools required...naturally they'd have to change the size of the filter to accommodate the removable and insertion through the glove compartment side panel.
As a fellow Giulia owner I’m inclined to not change the cabin filter out of spite. That process is insane! The cabin filter in my 2018 Honda Pilot is a 30 second job.
Than you sooooooooo much! It took me about 3 hours over 2 days even with the help of the video. I think now I can do the same thing in less than 20 minutes. Thanks you. Thank you.
Thanks 🙏🏻 so much for doing this. It will definitely save me money 💵.. I am dreading the minor costs of these and how much more dealers would charge .. thank you again
Thank you for this.. my mechanic is going to use this video to help him with my gulia sport.. I don't want to drive 3 hours and pay 300 for alpha romeo to work on it..
Thank you for the great video! Just completed this for the first time. Took over an hour, but I was trying not to break anything! Will I ever do it again? Hmm, I may have to answer that tomorrow when (if?) I get out of bed!😂
The engineers must design these things on a computer screen - I doubt they ever actually do a replacement themselves! Replacing the cabin filter on my 2018 Mustang is almost as difficult - removal of old filter not to bad, but reassemble a royal pain. I had a Honda Accord - removal & replacement, a leisurely TWO MINUTES.
Thanks a lot for this. I’ve had the same Mann high quality filter sitting in my garage for months now, dreading the complicated replacement procedure. With your video it seems a lot less daunting. Great work! Greetings from a new sub from Denmark.
I did the Stelvio today there is a tiny screw that holds the plastic filter cover in place and its a bitch because there is a rigid plastic tube blocking access so you need to be patient to get it out
I had a shop change out my filter and now I have no airflow coming out of my vents Now I’m thinking maybe they clogged something 😢 Gonna take it apart today to see what they did
Dude!!! I just did this per your video. I am a dumb a$$. The cabin filter came with instructions to do it from the bottom without taking glove box out. 1/4 the time!!
yeah some cars are easy some are more involved I did my Stelvio today and its much more involved as they use a tiny screw that holds in the cover for the filter and a rigid hose blocks it total PITA
As I'm watching this, I can't help but think if this was the final design, what other LESS convenient designs did they reject?! (Remove entire dash, engine out cabin filter replacement, etc.!)
This is a shame to have to remove all this to get to a cabin filter. I own the Giulia, not looking forward to paying someone to swap this out. I sure won't be messing with it. Way too much work to get to this filter. WOW!
depends by local air quality and ventilarion system usage, on my previos car replacing filter was extremly fast and easy and i replaced the filter every 15k km/1.5 years. but now on Giulia is much more painfull and i dont think i would replace as often, but probably every 20-25k km
yes and not the Stelvio was a true PITA because there is a bracket and set screw that has to be removed and there is so little space to get to it. same process but FYI on the bracket and set screw
I did not film the Stelvio I was too busy cursing doing it ha ha ha, its the same procedure just like I mentioned above there is just one extra step to get the set screw out which is a bitch.
I completed this task today. This is the most ridiculous design that I have ever seen. From flimsy duct foam to cheap plastic tabs. I have changed cabin air filters in Porsche and BMW before. I broke the tab for latching the small access door and had to use a small screw to secure it during reinstallation. Funny thing is its like they expect you to break it, as there is a hole and tab there for a screw.
Starting to think European car manufacturers make maintenance more difficult than it needs to be to deter people from DIY maintenance. More money for dealerships
@@autofanaticcars Yep, a couple weeks ago when I did the first oil change on my Giulia, I could only laugh as I was removing the 19 torx screws just to get to the oil plug lol
the Stelvio is more difficult because there is a set screw that needs to be removed that is an absolute BITCH, i will never do that one again and glad i did not attempt to video the Stelvio, nothing but cursing!
For such a great car that is a horrible design. My other two cars it’s very simple with no need to remove anything. Lucky I will only be changing the filter every two years.
That foam duct tube is disappointing especially for an 80k dollar vehicle Jesus wth was on the engineering Dept minds when they designed that? You think it was for weight savings I mean lol
