Thank you for posting. Sorry to say I prefer it in the original black & white. Cortot looks less like some creature from another planet. I, and all those professional pianists who I have known, have praised Cortot's beautiful phrasing. We can forget the wrong notes. His playing was sublime. According to my friends who graduated from the Paris Conservatoire, however, Cortot was a difficult man. There is a lovely story, which has come to me from various persons, is that while touring with the Thibaut, Cortot trio in Europe, he was so fussy about everything, from food to accomodation, to - well - everything, that one night in the hotel, Casals and Thibaut took the bathroom sign off the bathroom door and stuck it on the door of Cortot's room. The next morning, so the story goes, he was ashen and with bags under his eyes. He hadn't had a moment's slepp with people banging on his door and shouting. Fascinating to see him here talking about Schumann, but sadly without any great revelations.
