As a begginer in the animation industry, this video is just the best thing in the world for me! I love to animate, but at the beggining we can struggle to find the right path to find the rhythm and posing of a scene. This was basically a perfect example to study. Thank you! And please, keep making more content like this!

@@alfredocassano3194 I allways say: The good artist is the one that do great works. The best artist, is the one who shares what he or she knows with others. That is you right there ☺ (although you are also one of the best animators I know haha)

This scene was so comically timed and acted! I think this was when I fell deeply in love with the movie. (movie with perfect balance of atmosphere and comedic animation that cannot be done in live-action)

What an awesome breakdown - awesome to see you isolate each part out rather than trying to do it all straight ahead in full drawings per frame. Certainly makes it seem a lot less daunting 🙏

Thank you Ryan. The more complex the scene, the more it's necessary to break it down into more than one pass. Otherwise there is too much to follow and it becomes impossible.

Thanks for breaking this animation down. Its a very smart thing to make oneself clear what the distance is, a scene has to cover and then sectioning it. Love the approach!
@alfredocassano3194
@alfredocassano3194 Год назад
thanks. In this case it was the camera movement to dictate the range of motion. Some other times is the character that dictates the camera movement, or at least, the latter gets fine tuned around the animation if necessary.

I think the animation clause in the movie explains to us, all the points about the beginning of the story how to start love giving gifts at Christmas, I mean in the movie that's just the point, but I like how to make the animation beautiful and perfect, and I think it's weird in the background back, only snow. I know it's not easy to make moving pictures about running out of ideas and taking a long time to work on it, I cried when I watched this film.

Can you help me understand that if the head's movement kind of cycle animation or not? I mean it repeats itself but the position of the head is changing and maybe eyes also? Because I believe it can be dangerous while doing traditional animation because of the possibility the animation might feel audience kinda robotic or unnatural. But if you did handle this scene that way, you did it very well! I didn't undestand while watching to be honest! And also very good choice to explain! Thank you!
@alfredocassano3194
@alfredocassano3194 Год назад
no, it wasn't meant to be a cycle in this case. I just needed some eye direction change to give the idea that he's quickly looking around. Sometimes a cycle could be useful but as you say, there is a high danger of it looking mechanical and repetitive.

This is great! I liked the advice on it. I do have a question though Did you animate the hands straight ahead or pose to pose?
@alfredocassano3194
@alfredocassano3194 Год назад
Thanks! Straight ahead, first the closest to camera, then the other one.
@Xenderman
@Xenderman Год назад
@@alfredocassano3194 ahh! Thank you, I was wondering. With that said, how often do you utilize straight ahead for character animation and what is the philosophy you follow for when to use straight ahead in character animation?
@alfredocassano3194
@alfredocassano3194 Год назад
@@Xenderman that entirely depends on each scene, so you can't decide beforehand. But it's often a mixed technique, switching from pose to pose to straight ahead and viceversa, according to the needs. For example when animating straight ahead, if I feel I'm getting lost or nowhere, I draw a destination drawing (technically a key) and animate into it. A good scene is usually a combination of both things.
@Xenderman

@@alfredocassano3194 thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I will keep that in mind when I rough in my next sequence.
