When i had one of these installed on my cast, I discovered I could not slip my pants over it and had to cut off the pant leg, but the stirrup was very useful with keeping the weight off my leg and prevented me from losing balance.
Hi Sarah! Loved the video. Do you know where can I buy the stirrup device? I have been trying to find it for years and finally it seems like I am getting closer. Thanks :)
I just had my cast with stirrup (another brand) removed and it left me with an intensely painful ankle joint, heel and achilles tendon that I have had to apply ice everyday, and still cannot bear weight on my ankle/foot. Because the stirrup is affixed to the side of the cast, the cast gets pushed up so the pressure overtime injures the soft tissues and muscles of the ankle and heel. Also since the stirrup is several inches off the floor, it hiked up my hip misaligning my back, so now I have a painful back and muscles too.
Hi! It is the same concept. These are adjustable thus making them readily available off the shelf. Where we are here in Ontario Canada this is typically a device that is made custom for each patient on an as needed basis. Having this adjustable version allows us to stock the device in hospitals. This reduces that strain on our orthotists required to fabricate them and also allows them to be available for patients that come through trauma.
