Love watching these I. Parts - videography is great, love watching y’a slay specs. Can’t wait to get back to the park here soon. I know you’re busy with family too, any fall trip plans?
thanks, I have to say this series is one of my best works so far 🤣 Did a few family trips and recently went on a bass trip with my old fishing buddy, hoping to that vid out soon. I haven't made any concrete fall plans yet, but would like to go up north to do some fishing for brookies, maybe a 3 day trip?
@@DerekSOutdoors let me know if you can make north - with notice I should be able to make it :) I ageee best work so far - heading out for two nights tonight so hoping to get some good footage and catch some fish :)
@@NotSoEpicAdventurer yup will let you know when I get dates and location planned. Good luck on your fishing trip! Guess you're going for bass, pike or walleye now?
Glad you're enjoying the video, maybe it will hit 1 million views in the next 10 years 😂. Yeah that large brookie was a fighter!! Poor weather is usually rewarded with good fishing 😁
@@DerekSOutdoors Poor weather builds character! And looks like you've built a lot of it given every video I've watched so far has been Peeing down on you lol
@@EzeAdventurer hahaha the little bit of rain doesn't even come close to the massive wind and hailstorm you had up in the Yukon!! 🌧️⛈️ 🍃 With the weather you faced your character is the size of a blue whale 🐳 😂
You planned that hunk of salami perfectly..lol. Excellent adventure, enjoyed every minute of it especially your simplicity and minimal gear/weight. Looks to be a terrific route to stretch out the fly rod and adopt a single carry
salami rationing is a backcountry skill learned from many last day salami'less wraps of previous trips 😅 And thanks for the kind comments, I like to pack for single carry, it gives me the option for single carry when the portage is easy or do a double when it gets more technical. My boat is also quite small so can't hold a second backpack anyway... You know the saying, when you get a bigger boat or bag, "you find ways to fill it" 😂
Great video. I had been wondering about getting to Crow River by heading upstream from Lake Travers, but didnt know how doable it was (especially in spring high water). Glad to see it is very possible, even in a single day...
Yup, it is indeed paddle-able, I was there 3 weeks after ice out for that trip last year. It would be good to plan for some headwinds when heading up river on the Petawawa because you are going west into the prevailing winds and the river can turn into a wind tunnel in some areas
Nope, I book 2 separate trips (and pay 2 separate booking fees) First one that would start at my access point and when I get to a road block on the system because it says it is too far distance then I would start booking a 2nd trip so I can go to the camp/lake that I want to make it to the next days.
I have different flies tied onto each rods and different fly lines as well. It is like bass fishing where you see the anglers have multiple lures and setups for each situation. I usually bring a 4wt with a floating line for fishing in the streams, then a 6wt with a sinking tip to fish with streamers. Also bring a spinning rod for trolling around 😅
@@DerekSOutdoors I see I've only ever used a spinning rod but watching you fly fish makes me want to learn. Can you recommend a good all rounder rod/reel setup for a beginner to use in Algonquin/Credit?
@@wc4572 I fish the upper credit a fair bit. Most people say to start with a 9foot 5wt rod, but I find a 8 or 9 foot 4 wt will be better suited for Algonquin and the credit. (Shorter rod like a 8ft better if you plan on fishing really brushy streams and small rivers, and a 9ft for if you plan to hit the more open water) I don't think brand matters as much as just getting the correct weight and length of rod... I'd start out with a floating line as well as it is more versatile and you can practice different casts and techniques
Thanks!! Glad you enjoy watching 🙂 I use a 12foot H2O pack boat, probabaly should have went with the 13footer for a bit more storage, but this one is good for navigating around smaller creek and rivers .
Tried to make a reference to Joe Robinets Nipissing R trip from 6 yrs ago which now has 6 million views .He gets like 3 specks .Your trip is more interesting and you crush him as a fisherman Working on a new paddle and camping axe @@DerekSOutdoors
